Mae’s P.O.V.
The Social was located in the Triad, which was not technically any of our pack’s territories. Humans and other magicals gather here. The only humans that were allowed were the ones were mated to a werewolf and lived with them on the pack. That was a great thing about the Triad. Along with socializing with other werewolf packs we could also socialize with other types of people and beings.
We pull up to the front and Lacy pays for valet. Lacy says since it’s my 18th birthday, I should get star treatment. Really I think she was just being lazy, but I wouldn’t say that to her. Since Lacy still wasn’t 18 yet, she couldn’t get into the bar like Hazel and myself. So she would either get a fake or flirt with the bouncer until he let her in. Today the bouncer happened to be a friend of ours, he was a guard for our pack and he recognized the two of us since we trained so much and he let us in without even looking at our ID’s.
“Well that was lucky.” Hazel says to us.
Lacy with a big grin says, “Something good is going to happen tonight, I can feel it. The Moon Goddess is giving us all the vibes tonight. Starting with Troy being the bouncer tonight.”
“I don’t think the Moon Goddess really cares about you being able to come to the bar to drink with us.” Hazel responds.
“Oh don’t be such a prude lil pup Haz. Let loose! Mae only turns 18 once.”
Once again Hazel and I find ourselves somehow chuckling and shaking our heads at Lacy. She definitely gets us out of our comfort zones from time to time with her big personality. But we love her because of it.
As we walk around The Social, I find that the bar is somewhat of an older crowd than I thought would be here. Everything seemed to be more expensive than many of the other bars. The decor was very nice everything in there was modern and dark colored wood. I noticed that all the walls were grey except for one wall was like a darkish green. The staff all had white dress shirts with black slacks, and the drinks were more expensive. Definitely not the type of bar many 18 year olds would go to celebrate their birthday.
Even though I didn’t know that this was a nicer bar, I loved it. It was definitely up my ally. Hazel seems uncomfortable, which honestly isn’t new for her, and Lacy was already at the bar ordering us drinks before we even made it to the open booth in the back.
Once we sit down, I was shocked to find Lacy ordered us a bottle of champagne and placed three Champagne flutes down on the table.
“So what happened to the usual shots Lacy?” I say to her with a bit of sarcasm.
Lacy looks up at the two of us and finally says, “We are classy ladies tonight. It’s your 18th birthday. We look Hella fine and we are gonna get hit on by all the older men in this bar tonight. They see us drinking champagne they will order more of it for us, instead of the cheap shots.”
Okay I will give Lacy credit, it was a smart move. Even though I won’t be going home with any man tonight. The thought of free champagne was a great birthday gift.
“Damn beauty and brains.” Hazel giggles as she says it.
“Oh shut it redhead and drink up!” She pops open the champagne and pours it into each one of the flutes, “To one great night with my girls!” She adds.
“To Mae!” Hazel chimes in.
We toast and clink our glasses. Then, as soon as I was about to put the champagne flute up to my lips, I smelled the most amazing smell.
Evergreen & tobacco.
Seconds later, I felt Grey come back into my mind and immediately yell at me.
MATE!

Kendrick’s P.O.V.
Tonight was exactly what I needed. I thought it would be a little more awkward honestly. Just the three of us that I practically forced them to go on a little bro-date with me. They didn’t seem bothered when I told them we were doing this, but then again I was going to be their new Alpha in a matter of hours so they couldn’t really say anything even if they didn’t. Owen and Geo are really easy to get along with. I am grateful my dad picked these two to be my Beta and Gamma. I haven’t even seen either of them in action yet, and honestly if I still was able to have the choice I would have picked them too.
“Okay Geo, can I pick the next bar? Your last two picks were average at best.” Owen says as he hands our driver a new address on a piece of paper.
“Oh come on. They weren’t that bad.” Geo says,
"You picked a bar in our own pack territory for goodness sake." Owen said while shaking his head.
Geo tries to recoup and responds with, "Well how was I supposed to know that every unmated she-wolf in the bar would pretty much stalk on Alpha Kendrick."
"Well maybe because they all know he's returned and unmated."
Geo throws up his hands in a defeat.
“Give him a break. He’s young and mated. He doesn't understand what it's like to be unmated, and have dozens of women throw themselves at you.” I chime in with a chuckle.
“Okay haha. Pick on the young guy.” He says while making quotation marks with his fingers while he says young guy. “Well Owen since you have such a great spot to hit. Why have you waited until now to bring it up?”
He turns to him with a grin and simply states, “Saved the best for last.”
Geo and Owen bicker back and forth a bit more as we drive to the next bar, while I just sit back and laugh at the two of them. They were entertaining. I can see myself getting along with them.
I’ve always been a man of not many words. I felt that I could gain a better understanding of people by listening.
About 5 minutes later we pull up to a new modern looking bar.
As soon as we are about to walk into the bar, Owen looks down at his phone and groans.
“What’s the matter? Out past curfew or something?”
Owen looking quite annoyed says, “My sister is in trouble again. She needs me to come bail her out.” He turns to me and says, “I can ask my father to go get her.”
I shake my head, “No, no. Go help her. Duty to your pack is what’s most important, and your family is apart of our pack. We can go out again any other time.”
He bows his head as a symbol of respect, “Thank you Alpha. I will report to you first thing in the morning.” And with that he was off.
So now it was just Geo and myself. I was told him that we should just call it a night, but he insisted that we at least check out this bar before going back to the packhouse. I looked up and at the sign of the bar that seemed to be called “The Social”. There were a lot of people in there so might as well see what all the fuss was about. We finally got into the Social, and that’s when it hit me. One of the strongest and most amazing things I have ever smelt. Coffee grounds and vanilla. 'Is this it?' I ask myself.
Then all of a sudden my wolf Solomon practically screams at me… MATE.
I look all around trying to find the girl that I have been hoping to meet for the last four years, hell let’s be honest, for my whole life. I scanned every face praying that a face would match with the her aroma. And finally, I saw her. She must have been looking for me too because she was looking all over. Then we made eye contact. I wish I could live in this moment for a few minutes longer because just as I was about to make my way over to her, some skinny bimbo spilled her drink all over me.
“Oh my I am sooooooooo sorrrrryyyy.” She says to me obviously drunk as the last two words drug out a little too long.
“It’s fine, but if you’d excuse me I need to leave.”
“LEAVE?” She shouted, “But you just got here, and I need to make it up to you since I spilled my drink allll over you.”
‘Wow thirsty much?’ I think to myself. Solomon, my wolf, as not amused. He wanted his mate and wanted her now.
“No thank you.” I say to her sharply to make sure she doesn’t get the wrong idea.
She just laughs and reaches out to touch me. I make sure to dodge it in plenty of time. “Oh stop that. I know that I could give you a good time if you’d let me.”
Okay this chick needs to stop. I am over irritated, I am straight up pissed, but I didn’t want to bring any more attention to us. I could just command her to stop, since I am an alpha, she’d have to step down. But to do that I would have to get loud, and then everyone in there would know who I am. There would be so many questions and I didn’t want to have to deal with any of those people. I want to talk to and be with my mate and my mate alone.
