Elk Pov I was sleeping until I heard a loud voice over a microphone. WAKE UP, STUDENTS!,said Professor Glimmeria. I groaned. Ugh! Why so early?,I said. Lisa stirred in her sleeping bag, reluctantly getting up. I sighed. Finally, we got up and freshened up, washing our faces and brushing our teeth before heading to join the other students, who were mumbling unhappily. We were all still in our pajamas. Great, you guys are up. First thing on the agenda is stretching, then running ten laps, then stretching again, followed by showers and breakfast. That is the morning 's agenda, said Professor Glimmeria. We all groaned. Seriously?! Said Lisa. We woke up early just to run laps?,I said. I sighed. We started stretching our muscles. I spotted Cain and waved him over. Hey, girls. Haven't seen you guys since the party, said Cain. Yeah, sorry. We were busy preparing for the trip, said Lisa. I nodded in agreement. I saw Natalia apologizing on the livestream. I'm guessing that was your doing, said Cain. He chuckled. Guilty as charged. Plus, it wasn't to humiliate her or anything. I think the Sirens deserved an apology,I said. People are calling you a saint. Instead of humiliating her like most people would, you asked for a simple apology, said Cain. What? Really?,I said. I looked surprised. Yeah. I've been trying to tell you about the comments, but you're too busy living in your own head, said Lisa. She tapped my forehead. I pouted. Lisa and Cain both laughed. I smiled a small smile. You know she's glaring daggers at you right now, said Cain. I turned to where Cain was looking. Natalia's glare was so intense that, if looks could kill, I'd already be six feet under. I quickly looked away. Christ, the way she's looking at you, you'd think you stole her boyfriend or something, said Lisa. Yeah, let's forget about her. Those ten laps aren't going to run themselves,I said. She's right, said Cain. Lisa nodded. We started running our laps, chatting as we ran and catching up on everything since the party. A few minutes later... We finished our laps and stretches before heading back to the breakfast table. Meanwhile, we were unaware that someone—or something—watching from the shadows had something planned for all of us. Cain spotted us and waved us over. He had secured a spot for us. Thanks, said Lisa. No problem, said Cain. What do you think they have planned for us?, I said. I slowly sipped from a blood bag. Who knows? You know how those teachers are, said Cain. Yeah, they love giving us challenges, said Lisa. She groaned. I nodded in agreement. We saw Elder Pyrrus holding a microphone. Okay, students. After breakfast, get into groups of three. Then you'll head into the forest to hunt monsters, said Elder Pyrrus. Murmurs rippled through the students. Since the three of us are already together, let's form a team, I said. Great idea! Plus, we already work so well together, said Lisa. Sure, why not? It could be fun, said Cain. Then Elder Pyrrus continued. The trees marked with bright yellow paint indicate the area you should stay within said Elder Pyrrus. We will be watching and grading you on your combat ability, adaptability, and teamwork, said Professor Glimmeria. Do your best and stay safe. You are dismissed, said Elder Pyrrus. We should get going if we want to make it back in time for lunch, said Lisa. Yeah, but let's pack some snacks, drinks, and medical supplies just in case, I said. Cain nodded in agreement. We grabbed a backpack and packed it with essential supplies. We entered the forest, staying aware of our surroundings. This place is so creepy, said Lisa. Try not to piss yourself,I said. I teased. Lisa smacked my shoulder. I winced, pretending it hurt. She rolled her eyes at my dramatics. Cain chuckled. I looked ahead and spotted six goblins. They hadn't noticed us yet. What should we do? Lisa whispered. Goblins are intelligent and agile creatures, so we have to move fast, I whispered back. Yeah. Since there are six, each of us takes two, said Cain. We all nodded in agreement. Cain manifested his blood sword. We exchanged a quick look of understanding. Then Cain shot forward faster than lightning, swiftly decapitating two goblins. In quick succession, Lisa and I fired arrows made of dark magic, killing the remaining four goblins. Cain smirked. We make the best team, said Lisa. Yeah, we're a dream team, I said. We all high-fived each other. A few hours later... We finished our hunt and decided to head back to the campsite. Lisa couldn't stop talking about how well we worked together. We fought seamlessly as one—intense, fierce, and relentless. Every move was precise and calculated. We had defeated goblins, orcs, and skeletons without much trouble. Cain joined in the conversation. Meanwhile, I wasn't paying attention because I was busy talking to Nova through Nova. "I haven't had that dream again since I left for the Forsaken Grove" I said. Nova: "Weird. Could it be our subconscious? We were both nervous." "I don't think so. It feels like she wants to tell me something" I said. I sighed.
