Dhara looked at him and banged the door on his face. She hurriedly ran towards the washroom. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and discover the changes she have gone through. She was not like the Dhara who always used to smile no matter what the situation was. Who was her baba's (father) fighter. This new Dhara was different. She was strong from out but broken inside. She lost all her strength to fight with situations. She hardly smile or converse with anyone now. She has no wills to live her life but to breath. She looked at her reflection thoughts crashing in her mind. Tears rolled down on her cheeks. She broke drown. She cried for her life, cried for her destiny, cried for her stupidity, poured her heart out, cried that he returned in her life again. She hunched over the bathroom sink. Her grip tighten on the edge of the sink, her knuckles turning white. She splashed water on her face furiously. Droplets dribbled down from her dark black eyelashes through her straight nose, perfectly shaped lips, to her chins. Hurt was deeply trembling her heart. As the memory crashed in her mind. Dhara came out of the emergency room. She took of her hospital gown and mask leading her way to the women's restroom. She was restless, tired enough to sleep where ever she got the place to. As she could remember, she been in the hospital since two days. It was an endless work. Her father had visited her out of worry. He had been calling her to make sure she was eating. She slowly open the faucet and let her hands under it. It was chilled. "We are going out for lunch. Do you wanna join us?" She heard someone saying. She turned her head to look at the person. It was one of the doctor from her group. She slowly shook her head, "No, you guys enjoy. I'm gonna rest now." The doctor nodded thoughtfully. She walked out of the hospital to the bus stand. She heaved, It was quite distant from her work place. The sun was bright in the sky. It was heating day. She noticed that some pedestrian have umbrella with them to protect themselves from sharp UV rays. There were some who walked passed her with ice creams in their hands. Her eyes went at the end of the street. There was a dark-haired man standing out of the telephone booth. She noticed that he was sweating as his hands repeatedly reached to wiped them. She got a closer look, he was breathing hard. She walked fast to him. "Sir, are you alright?" She asked. "Yeah, I..I'm fine." He trailed off. His voice was dry--- no volume. "Are you sure?" "Yeah, my son is on his way to pick me." He smiled heavily. Dhara reluctantly agreed. She started to walk passed him but a loud thudding sound made her swirl on her feet. It was him. He was lying on the floor motionless. The glasses which he was holding in his hands were shattered on the floor. She hurried on his side, attempted to wake him up but nonetheless. She dialed emergency number on her mobile. Later there was an ambulance approaching them. Two men walked out side with stretcher in their hands. They led him in and closed the door. The ride to the hospital was minutes far. He was very much awake and alert. "What happened?" One doctor hurried in asked. Once they were in the emergency room. "Cardiac arrest..," was all Dhara could managed to say. They pushed her aside and started to proceed to ICU. "Wait., I will do the surgery!" "Dr. Dhara you can't do this surgery. He is a VIP patient and we don't want any complications." One of the doctor exhaled. They all heard a foot steps behind them. It was Dr. Mehra. The Co- Founder and chairman of the hospital. "I was the one who brought him here and I will be the one to do this surgery." She had stern look on her face. Dr. Mehra was well aware of her abilities. He was aware that she won't make any mistakes. At last he ended up nodding his head. Hours later she walked out with a hopeful glint. She took a quick glance of her watch. It was past 10 at night. She stopped in her mid way. Her eyes widened. There was a man standing holding the scissor in his hand in front of her. His eyes were red, his hairs messed up. His shabby clothes were hung lose on his body. "You have to die now. Y..you killed my wife. And then you left me with that mad doctor. Who acclaim that I'm mentally ill. You made my life worse--" He yelped stepping forward. She looked around. In The vacant corridor, there was only two of them. She tried to think fast for any escape but her mind was tired to think anything. She braced herself, feet apart, trying to remember through her panic what little self-defense she knew. Heel of the hand thrust upward, hopefully breaking the nose or shoving it into the brain. But then the pessimistic voice in her mind reminded her that she would not have a chance against him. She wanted him alive. He was her patient. "You have to die now!" His roar echoed in the corridor. She winced when the sharp pain ran over her arm, she took a step back. The little droplets of the scarlet water drizzled from her hand on the floor. Her White sleeve getting red. She wasn't going to let him harm her more. She needed to take action. She tried to swallow so she could build up a decent scream. A loud grasp suddenly escape from his lips, taking the advantage she dove into the other side of the corridor. Few nurses ran up to them. Terrified that he might hurt her again. She realized, two of them held him while one nurse injected him. Soon his eyelids closed and his grip on the scissor loosen. She heaved a relief and was about to instruct them but the man took a hold of her wrist. Startled she looked at him. "Let's go." His furious voice commanded. It was amazing how instantaneously the choking fear vanished, amazing how suddenly the feeling of security washed over her--- even before she was off the corridor. "I'm sorry, I Startled you there." The man spoke softly. "No-- no. I'm thankful that you came just in time otherwise I would have been dead now." She giggled throwing her head back. "Be little careful next time." He said curtly an she nodded awkwardly. "Anyway why he was trying to kill you?" "He is my patient. And it's something private." She reluctantly exhaled and he nodded. "Dr. Dhara, thank god you are here. The VIP patient, he's out of danger now." They saw someone approached them. "VIP patient--- he's my dad." Adhiraj interrupted. The both doctor looked at him, "well, our senior was the one who saved your father." The other doctor exclaimed happily. "Now I should be thankful. I was scared that something bad might happen to him. After seeing him, I'm assured." He thrust his hand and reluctantly she clasped. It might be for a minutes or second that they have met. But he had a strong impression on her. The act of saving her was somehow wrapped her in a new warm feeling. How she wish he didn't helped her at that time. But whatever was done--- was done. Now it was not going to change. She shrugged her thoughts and stepped out of the washroom. Braiding her hair, she put some makeup on. She hopped in the bus and let the day begin. The ride took half an hour for her to reached hospital. "Good morning beautiful." kavish beamed walking up to her. Their friendship was growing since their childhood. He was more like a family to her. "If you don't want to smile, then it's okay. At least don't forced smile at me." Kavish narrowed his eyes. "Such a dramatic man he is." Dhara thought. "Let's grab a coffee--- I have something to ask you." Kavish dragged her in the cafeteria. "What?" She asked petrified. "Spill, I want to know." He folded his hands on his chest. She narrated everything to him. "What? I'm finding hard to believe it." And she pinched his cheeks quite harshly. "Ouch!!"he winced on which everyone stared at them. "Shut up. You sleepy head." She clasped his head firmly. "But really. I don't believe that he would return again and more importantly how did he found you?" His questions made Dhara think little deep as well. "I don't know. I just don't want to drag myself in my past now." Just even reminding it shiver ran down on her spine. "Nothing will happen Dhara. Just calm down and enjoy your coffee. Because it's getting cold." He assured her with a hopeful glint in his eyes. It was very late when she walked towards her cabin with the thought of taking a quick nap before she get summoned. Her cabin door was slightly open. She had closed the door as she could remember. She stepped and realized that someone was sitting on the chair facing her desk. She got near to it. It was him. He came into her cabin as well. She was furious. "I don't know what he wants now from me. Why he is following me everywhere." She wondered. She cleared her throat and he looked up at her. For a slight second she noticed longing in those eyes---- for her? She was trying to figure out why he was complicating her life now. "Don't you have any shame?" She questioned but he simply passed the paper in front of her. "Now what is it?" Irritated she asked again. He motioned her to the paper. She looked at it carefully. "Why are you giving those pieces to me ?" She fired. "Because you didn't see the paper correctly." He exhaled rolling the pen between his fingers playfully. "Care to explain! What you are talking about?" Anger laced in her tone. "Pathak---" he shouted and one man came wearing a black suit and holding a bag. He looked at her and then him. "Sure sir." he said and took the papers from her. "Ma'am I'm sorry to say but your law suit got rejected. Because there is only one sign In it. Sir haven't sign these papers." He detailed about the papers. "What? Are you kidding me right. He was the only one who asked me to release him and now you are saying that he didn't sign this papers. What a joke!" She laughed sarcastically and took the paper from him. "I don't believe in this papers. You and I will never going to get back together." She shouted and tore the papers and threw the pieces on his face. But he rooted on his place, unmoved. "I knew it. That you gonna act like this." he exclaimed and she rolled her eyes. "That's why I give you a fake copy." he said. She was bewildered. "Yeah! you heard it right. Those were fake papers. And original is still safe with me. So now when you know everything. Then let me clear you one thing very clearly. That I'm your HUSBAND and on that right you have to come with me right now." He voice was stern. "Husband? I'm not going anywhere. Understand. And don't you dare to force me or doing anything with me. Otherwise I'm not going to spare you." She tried to threatened him. "You will come with me." he challenged. "In your dreams." She smirked and grabbing her bag she walked out. I stepped on the bus. Thinking how her life changed it's way. All these years she was only fighting herself, she loomed in the dark as sleep clouded over her. After sometime Adhiraj walked out of the cabin and made his way to the exit. "So you came here also?" He heard a voice from behind him. "You?" Adhiraj exclaimed looking at the person. "Yeah luckily. Just stay away from her, you've hurt her enough. But now if I see a drop of tear in her eyes. Then I swear--- I will not going to forgive you this time." He greeted his teeth, ready to hunt him down. "You know what? I'll leave you this time. Because no one dares to talk rubbish in front of me. And on top of that you are Dhara's friend. That's I'm leaving you this time." Adhiraj looked straight in his eyes. "We will see." Kavish said walking away from him and waving his hand in the air. Later the day he attend the meeting and progress with his usual routine. "Okay, Dhruv now I'm going home. I'm tired very badly." He said stretching my hands to relieve some tiredness. "Come with me. Tara is preparing dinner for us. At least eat something there." Suggested Dhruv. "No thanks." Adhiraj walked towards his car and drove off to the home. He unlocked the door and as usual everything was silent. Home! Where no one live just some furniture and paintings. He tried to gulped down his morsels. The silent was killing him. He stepped into the house and as soon as she saw him. She ran towards him and started keeping his shoes on the rack. She was about to take his laptop and blazer but he jerked her hands. And she took her hands back, disappointed. "You must be hungry. Please go and freshen up. Till then I will set the table." She smiled which made his blood boiled. He disliked her, even her sight. "Listen you bloody woman don't try to act so sweet. Just because of you I lost my love and now just because of you I lost my very important deal too. Why the hell did you have to show your witchy face first in the morning. You are bad luck for everyone. If anyone see your face first in the morning then nothing good will happen like it happened with me." I looked at her, his eyes blazing with anger. "No for God sake. Don't say those words. It broke my heart whenever I listen those words. I also wasn't ready for this marriage. But at least I'm trying to adjust with your life style. You also can try and please stop saying those harsh words to me. I'm your wife." She was crying but it didn't affect him. This was the last thing he wanted to listen and this made his blood boil. He roughly caught her hair and pinned her to the wall. "Never in your whole life do you say that you're my WIFE!!! understand?" He exhaled, his grip on her shoulder loosen and jerked her on the floor. "Listen you piece of s**t. Never ever show your face until I tell you. You witch!! you don't deserve me." He barked at her and walked away. Leaving her behind sobbing. ********************************* Adhiraj came out of his trance as he heard his phone ring. Seeing the caller ID. He cut the call. But it rang again. He switched of his mobile and walked over his room. He stretched his back on the bed. He made a very worst mistake. He hurt her badly. He crushed her trust. He broke her heart many times. He didn't saw her tears and never felt her pain. He was burning in anger that he didn't care to think of the outcome . He never saw her pain. All those thoughts crashed in his mind and a drop of tear slipped through her eyes. He quickly wiped the tears and made a promise. "That now whatever happen; he will make happiness for her."
