The After Party

Third Person's P.O.V As the party has come close to an end, Brianna and Chris decided to approach Lyle with smiles on their faces. Lyle felt nervous as she sees from her peripheral vision that two powerful people are approaching her with such smiles. She laughs awkwardly at what her members were telling her. "Excuse us, but could we borrow the President for a moment?" the others stood stunned at how polite the two were talking. Cameron clears his throat and answered politely as well. "Of course, Sir, Madame." "Thank you." Brianna snakes her arm around Lyle's arm and drag Lyle out of there. Lyle looks around and didn't see Amelia anywhere. Lyle looks back at her members and they all gave her a thumbs up which made Lyle curse under her breath. Now what do they want from me? Lyle was avoiding the Taylors the entire night, all because she had felt something happening later in the evening. What was happening right now is a confirmation for Lyle. She curses herself for not trusting her gut. "Don't be so nervous, honey." Brianna's voice rang inside Lyle's ears. Lyle looks at Chris and Chris smiled at her a little. Lyle had always thought that Chris Taylor is a narcissist and egomaniac. Lyle looks at Chris more and instantly felt guilty for judging him so quickly. She had to remind herself to separate work from personal life. The three of them exit the dining area and entered the elevator. Chris pushes the rooftop button and scanned a card at the lowest side, just after the buttons on the elevator. It made a soft beep before the elevator start moving. Lyle was getting amazed at this point. If he was really a narcissist, I would really understand why. Says Lyle to herself. "I heard you still haven't asked my daughter." Brianna says sweetly to Lyle, their arms still linking with each other. "I didn't know where to start." Lyle scratches the back of her head shyly. "I hope you're not thinking that we're some meddlesome parents." Chris says in a gentle voice. Lyle stares at the elevator doors in a daze. Lyle has never heard Chris' gentle voice directed to someone lower than him, especially them. They are all and focused on the commanding and stern voice of Chris Taylor that always sends chill down Lyle's spine if he ever raises his voice even if it's just half a pitch higher. "No, no. This is.. something that I always yearn for." Chris and Brianna looks at each other and smiles. The two of them knows Lyle's story even better than anyone else. The both of them know things that Lyle wants answers for but Lyle doesn't know that. The Taylors hold something bigger and better than answers but the time was still not perfect for the timing. "If you marry our daughter, we'll be yours too. We could have dinner together. Laze in." Brianna says, bribing Lyle with a hint of sincerity. Lyle chuckled nervously at the statement. "I don't want to bring Amelia to my world where danger is surrounding me, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor." Brianna grips Lyle's hand tighter. "As a parent, I don't want my daughter to get caught up in danger." Brianna says. "But even as a parent, we've failed at that." Lyle looks at Chris as he added to Brianna's statement. "We've made many unnecessary enemies, too many to count. That's why our daughter is sought after." Brianna says, making Lyle whip her head to Brianna's side. "But if she ends up with me, she'll be in more danger than she already is." "Brianna is a bright girl. As an elite, it's either money will consume you or the others that are after your money. We want Brianna to live a life without regrets." Brianna answers. "Even if it means that she may die?" Chris shakes his head. "Pushing forward and trust are two different things." But do I trust myself when it comes to Amelia though? If I were to screw up, Amelia's life will also be in danger. I can't risk it. Lyle says in her mind. The elevator chimes and opens up. Brianna pushes Lyle out of the elevator with a smile. "Make it count, honey." Brianna says before the elevator doors close. Did they just give me 'the talk'? Or was that something else? Lyle looks around the rooftop. She notices the flowers on the side, wilting but beautifully. Lyle looks around more, trying to find Amelia. She walks to the other end of the roof and found a beautiful Amelia, looking down. Lyle approaches Amelia while taking off her blazer. She slowly puts it on Amelia. Amelia looks to her side and found Lyle looking cool. Lyle's side profile is something that Amelia was crazy for. Amelia pulls Lyle's blazer closer to her body and smiles. "Is something the matter?" Lyle asks, worried for Amelia. "I'm a bit overwhelmed." "About what?" "I felt really happy. I had you and my parents in one room, it made me so happy that I don't know how to act in front of everyone." Lyle smiles making Amelia blush. "Amelia," "Hmm?" "Why did your father approach me?" Lyle faces Amelia and puts her arm on the short wall. Lyle leans onto the wall, gaining support from her arm. Lyle was unconsciously flexing her muscles in front of Amelia. "I don't know what you're talking about." Amelia looks away but Lyle had other plans. Lyle places her index finger in a curve under Amelia's chin and made Amelia face her. Lyle didn't know that what she's doing was making Amelia more crazy than she already was. Amelia's heart beat was getting faster. "Your mother told me about it." Amelia sighs. "We had met before." Lyle retracts her hand and puts it inside her pocket. Lyle's brows knits together, trying to think of when it happened. "First day of class?" "Before that," Lyle unconsciously looks down, still trying to figure out. Racking her brain for any instant that it did happen but nothing came to her. "I wouldn't blame you though if you don't remember it. We were too young." "Then how did you remember?" Amelia breaths in calmly and looks up at the stars. "I don't know, one day it just came to me. I asked my parents and they told me that it did happen some time ago." "Can you tell me?" "We were playing then and some people came in, took me away but you begged them to make you come too." Amelia laughs at the vivid dream-like memory. "Please, take me with you! I'm her cousin! I'm worth as much as her!" "This kid is crazy," "Just bring her in. We don't have much time." "Ugh, kids these days." "They took us inside a van, tied our hands and we were knocked unconscious. You woke me up then." "Amelia, Amelia, wake up." "But I didn't wake up." The door bursts open and a frantic man was looking behind him before closing the door slowly behind him. He had a sinister smile pasted on his lips, like a maniac and eyed Amelia illicitly. Lyle backs away, feigning fear. When the man let his guard down, Lyle jumps unto his back and choked the man with her small arm. "Argh! You brat!" the man wiggles around, trying to shake the little, clingy Lyle but Lyle was persistent and tightened her choke hold on the man. "Fuck." the man muttered and run backwards, hitting Lyle with the wall behind them. Lyle lets go of the grip on the man and coughed. The man grabbed Lyle and strangled her with his bare, strong arms. Veins popped out of the man's bald held. "You little fucker." he was angry. "The moment I woke up, you were being strangled." "Lyle!" Lyle looks down at the awake Amelia. Something awoke inside Lyle, a demon awakening. Lyle kicks the man's groin, making the man let go of her and his hands went to his balls, holding them for dear life. He was sweating and fell onto the ground. Lyle stood up like she had not been strangled a moment before. Amelia watches as how Lyle leers at the man from above. "Touching her costs a life." Lyle grabs the table beside them. Lyle flipped the table, letting the food that they provided, fell to the ground. Lyle slowly makes her way to her position before and lifts the table with such extraordinary strength. "Tsk, you're just a kid." the mans says in spite while still covering his groin. Lyle didn't react to his statement and spent a few more seconds before smashing the man's head with the table. "Did I... did I kill him?" Lyle desperately prayed that she didn't. She was a killer even before she was even conscious of her actions. She was a killing machine, she thought. "Almost. You fought another man. He heard the commotion and decided to check on us. You brought him down too and he was the one with the key to our cuffs and cell so we got away, thankfully." "I'm such a naughty kid. But how did I end up in your house?" Amelia shakes her head. "I don't know. My parents said they forgot too, but I think they know why." "Oh, okay." "After that I had confirmed that it indeed happened, I had some sort of troubled feelings that I couldn't quite explain. As days pass by, your younger self slowly became vivid. The moment I saw you at the welcoming ceremony, I thought what I had for you was just unfinished business." "You thought?" Lyle chuckled. "I'm still naive, unlike you. Spare me." Amelia chuckles too. "Fine fine," "I had thought of approaching you but you were so different. I didn't know who you were before but I felt that you were more different. I don't know how I compared that, but I did. I wanted to approach you so badly, but I couldn't." "Aww, is the great Amelia afraid?" Lyle teases and pinches Amelia's cheek. Amelia grabs Lyle's hand and intertwined it with hers, making Lyle shut up and making Lyle's heartbeat go crazy in an instant. "When I saw you with different women, I felt conflicted and I became somewhat crazily obsessive. A voice inside my heads always says that you're mine and I met you first." Amelia turns and faces the blushing Lyle. "Right," Lyle couldn't think of anything else to say at the moment. "I convinced myself that what you had with all those girls were just nothing but the moment I saw how you look at Chrelia, it sent me over the edge. I asked Dad to make you somewhat mine exclusively." "It was your idea from the beginning? All those crap Mr. Taylor said were just, crap?" Amelia nods her head and caresses Lyle's hand with her thumb, making tiny little circles. "When you touched me the first time, I confirmed my feelings for you." "You're one cunning woman, Amelia. You're scarier than anyone in our peers." Amelia laughs. "I won't let you go to another woman. You'll be mine openly someday." the resolve in Amelia's voice shook Lyle's dead heart. Lyle hugs Amelia and kisses her forehead. Lyle can't think of any words so she had retorted to hugging. Amelia melts into the hug and hugs Lyle back. "I should really thank your mother for bringing such a wonderful woman like you in this world." "If it wasn't for you too, I wouldn't realize how many are still suffering in this world." "The orphanage?" "Yeah. I wanted to at least make myself a better person for you." Without a warning, Lyle's tears suddenly start flowing. She was touched by Amelia's words and actions. Amelia notices the warm liquid on her shoulder and breaks the hug. Lyle looks down at Amelia while Amelia looks up at Lyle, Lyle being a bit taller than Amelia. "Lyle?" Lyle kisses Amelia's lips softly, gently and without malice. The both of them melts into the kiss. A warm reunion of bodies. Lyle was the first to break away from the kiss. Lyle leans her head onto Amelia's shoulder, still crying and Amelia letting her cry. "Where were you?" Lyle croaks out. Amelia pats Lyle's back gently. "I was right here all this time." She's so human. Lyle thought to herself. And there Lyle decided to do everything perfectly in order to protect Amelia. The world can learn a thing or two from Amelia, that's what Lyle was thinking. Below, where Jamie and the others were still at, clink their drinks and cheered. "So you're going to train again?" Michelle asks, sipping lightly on her champagne. "Yeah. We don't know until when, really." Jamie drinks his entirely in just a gulp and brought down the glass. "I'm proud of you." "For finally killing someone? I don't really think that's worth it." Jamie looks down at his both hands, hands of a killer. Jamie looking at the good Michelle made him realize that they will never be. Someone from high up and him, taking another's life so easily - he just couldn't imagine it happening. "No," Michelle grabs Jamie's shaking hands, "for taking a step forward." Jamie whips his head to Michelle and witnessed a god-like smile and it made Jamie tear up. "No one has ever told me that." The others who were looking from afar spectated silently. While they were talking, their eyes were glued on the two, especially to the crying Jamie. "I wonder when we'll have someone like that." Samantha comments. "If I were to pick, a partner after all this, or a partner amidst this all, I'd pick after all this." Gerald says, a growing jealousy and relief starts settling inside him. "If I were to pick, I'd pick anything." Cameron answers. "Why?" Allie asks Cameron, taking a light sip on her champagne. "Because love comes and goes." "I think that's what the President wants too. She has Amelia right now but she wants Amelia after this." Samantha says with a proud smile on her face. "Amelia will be in more danger if people find out that President likes Amelia." the other hums in agreement with Joyce's statement. "She'll be subject for bait and threat." Cameron says. "Now I wonder how President will counter this time thing," Allie says. "What do you mean?" Gerald asks. "I think I know what Allie is saying." Joyce hums and takes a sip on her wine. "There are a lot of people willing to get their hands on Amelia. She has a lot of competition." Allie answers Gerald's confusion. Allie brought her glass down and sighed. Finally looking away from the crying Jamie and the matured Michelle. "Right but won't Amelia not consider them as competition?" Gerald asks again. "She won't but the President will." Cameron says. "If you can't provide assurance and affirmation, the other will, of course, get tired and go to another person." Kristine speaks up after a few minutes of just staring at the two. She brought down her empty glass and looks at her hands. The others turned to look at her. "You've been there?" Gerald asks. "I had a lover once. I told him I loved him everyday but I obviously had no time to portray it through actions, he got tired of waiting, called me a liar and left." The others look at Joyce with sympathetic look. "You all looking at me like you're romantically virgins." Joyce laughs, making light of the situation. "We're not just that loveable like the two of them." Allie says with a chuckle. "Once this is over, we'll be free." Gerald sighs loudly and brought down his glass, placed it on the table like the others. "When will it be over?" Cameron asks, taking a last gulp on his wine before putting it down. "We'll just have to wait." Kristine says. "Those two, albeit happy, catastrophe will happen, involving them or System." "Enough of this deep talk. What we're having right now is reeeest." "You're right. Let's enjoy this before hell happens." "I'm with you on that." "We should forget about them. We're single, they're taken." "Let's stop making unnecessary comments." They talk about other things and start bickering with each other. The four of them, Lyle, Amelia, Jamie and Michelle, shared an intimate moment. A life for life. Lyle and Jamie thought. On the other hand, where Brianna and Chris are talking to someone in the shadows. "She's brought up well." "Let's not forget that she almost killed her." Brianna's stern voice echoed around the room. Even though Lyle doesn't remember anything and knows nothing of what's happening around her, Brianna still feels guilty leaving Lyle with Lyle's caretaker. Brianna was the first to shoot down the proposal but there were too many in favor. "I'm angry for that too, that's why I'm thankful she's in System." "They won't touch her again, they were sent with a strong warning." Chris says to the man, his eyes not backing down. "That's not what I'm worried about." "Then what is it?" the man looks at Brianna with his hazel eyes. "My side still doesn't know who she is and they're planning on how to exterminate her. The number one of System, 001." Brianna stands up, losing her cool while Chris' eyebrows knit together in anger. "Why aren't you putting a stop on this?" the man sighs. "Don't worry, they're still planning. They don't have someone to actually carry it out. Our number is also injured too, you know." Brianna sits down, not breaking eye contact. "I thought System was the only bad organization here. I see that your organization also has ulterior motives along the front of exterminating System." Chris says, his words piercing the barrier that was between them, agreement. "Unfortunately, yes and I'm doing something about it." "Well, you better do it fast. She needs more time than before. Her members are still as gullible as a jelly." the man chuckles to what Brianna says. "I can see that." "Just be sure to tell her the truth." Chris says and stands up, along with Brianna. The two of them head to the door. "I will."
