Chapter 24Eli jerked awake when Kol stopped the car in the parking outside the station. He was still cold, still shivering, but Kol had put the heating on max, and somewhere along the way he’d fallen asleep.
“Are you awake?”
“Yes.” He rubbed his face, wanting a shower in the worst way.
“We’ll pop in real quick to make sure everything is going according to plan, then we’ll head home, okay?”
Eli nodded and reached for the door handle. His legs were unsteady as he got out and walked up the stairs to the office. Before he got up the last flight, the onslaught of emotions almost drowned him. There was anger and frustration and bone-deep fatigue. He shuddered.
