"I can see the treeline." Kenni's warm chest heaved against Evalynn's body as she clutched her arm around his neck. They were well away from the manor, more than halfway across the field that led to the treeline according to Kenni who could somehow see through the void that engulfed the night. After landing in the bushes, the two had fled, but between being blind in the dark and her legs still being numb, Kenni had been forced to carry her again.
