Chapter 39 Constant attendance by physicians and nurses was more than enough reason to wish for life in the Haversham household to return to normal. Victoria firmly believed this when faced with yet another visit, and she made plans to do just that every time they took her temperature, examined her skin, and asked after her bowel habits. No member of the household was spared the repeated indignity and frequent intrusions.
