Chapter 92 How Would You Know That I am Incapable?

1435 Words
"Young man, who are you and where's your territory?" Howard Zhu scorned furiously at Jacob Ye as he got up from the ground. "I am a third-year clinical resident, waiting for my impending graduation." Jacob Ye said with a genuine look on his face. "Hah, so you're just a poor kid. Do you think you're good enough for Molly? Howard Zhu was suddenly relieved and he laughed, his rival turned out to be nothing but a puny student. Obviously, he hasn't seen how much damage this one could do. "Either way, it's not your decision to make." Jacob Ye grinned. "Do you even know who I am? My dad's the Chief Physician of the hospital of traditional Chinese medicine. If you'd like to still have a place in Oakland's medical field, you better get the hell out of my way." Howard Zhu scorned evilly. "So your dad is the Chief Physician, but what does that have anything to do with you?" Jacob Ye asked. Then he said again, "You're you, and your old man is your old man. Don't get yourself confused." "You son of a bitch..." Howard Zhu grew angrier, but he turned around so that he was facing Molly Tao and said, "Molly, I just need one word from you, tell me if you've made up your mind." "As I've already told you, I don't have feelings for you." Molly Tao said nonchalantly. "Get lost now, stop humiliating yourself. You've just only recovered from gonorrhea, have you not?" Jacob Ye said, his voice full of mockery. "Bastard..." Howard Zhu was caught off guard, he thought that no one knew the truth about the infection, so how did this guy find out? "You might want to start taking safety precautions while you're out looking for fun. If not, you'd regret one day and it'll be far too late." Jacob Ye sneered. "f**k you." Howard Zhu's face was flushed with anger. "Since you do it with almost everyone, might as well stop chasing after girls and settle down with a guy. Otherwise, you'll only destroy the girls' life." Jacob Ye continued saying. The crowd burst into laughter hearing the sarcastic remarks being thrown off from one end to another, just like a scene from a comedy. "Molly, is this your boyfriend? What do you even see in him? Is it because he's good looking, or does he come from reputation, or wealth?" Howard Zhu asked her instead, because he realized that he would never win against Jacob Ye's arguments. "What does that have anything to do with you?" Molly Tao gestured at Howard Zhu, her face cold and distant. "I'll tell you right now, I'd rather choose a pig over you, hands down." Does that mean that Howard Zhu is incomparable, even to a pig? "Let's not forget, Molly, you still have a place in the hospital." Howard Zhu was enraged, and he just lost it. "I thought I've seen even more shameless men, I stand corrected. To threaten someone if you can't win them over?" Some of the middle-aged busybodies were starting to get annoyed. "You must have thought that just because your dad is the Chief Physician, you can do whatever you want. How do you suppose she entrust her future in you?" "Just look at him, do you think he actually contracted gonorrhea?" Even the fangirls have started to look at Howard Zhu with disdain written all over their faces. "So he's just a fake gentleman, who threatens girls if they don't love him back." "That seems to be the case for all useless men..." "This is why you should always beware of men. Some may look like the romantic type, but in reality they're just beasts." Howard Zhu was shocked, he'd just lost it for a moment there, but he didn't know it would instigate such a huge reaction from the others. "If I were you, I would have left out of pure humiliation right now." Jacob Ye reminded him. His pride aside, when Howard Zhu came back to his senses, he felt a little embarrassed being the center of the attention. The wrong kind of attention. He angrily kicked the roses on the side and scoffed, "You two bastards, just you wait. I'll come back for you." And then he turned around and left hurriedly. The crowd began to disperse away, and Molly Tao fell silent. Howard Zhu's father may be the Chief Physician, but Old Tao has never felt intimidated by him. She wasn't at all worried about Howard Zhu's threat towards her job, though, she was afraid that Jacob Ye's life may not be a smooth sail ahead. Obviously, Jacob Ye will never understand her concerns. Seeing that Molly Tao hasn't said a word since the guy left, he asked wearily, "Is there anything edible in the house? I'm starving." Needling has always left him exhausted, add to the fact that he used up his remaining energy to engage in an argument with Master Zhu, he was indeed feeling a little hungry. "Alright, let's go out for a meal then." Molly Tao told him. "We don't have to, we can just eat at home. I rarely eat out." Jacob Ye said. "But Auntie Liu is not in today, and I don't know how to cook..." Molly Tao said with a hint of hesitance in her voice. "You don't have to, because you have me." Jacob Ye said with a smile on his face. "You can cook?" Molly Tao asked, a little confused. "Of course..." Moments later, Jacob Ye appeared in the kitchen and held the ingredients in one hand. He has already prepared the rice so now all there's left too do is to prepare a few more side dishes and he's done. Jacob Ye had been raised only by his mother so whenever she's too busy to take care of him, he'd fix himself a meal. Time after time, not only has he gotten used to it, he's also gotten better at it. In a flash, he's already had the vegetables rinsed, the eggs cracked, the potatoes julienned, then he proceeded to slice the tomatoes... Next, he ignited the stove and threw the eggs in. In less than half an hour, all the dishes were carefully arranged on the table. There's tomato fried eggs, spicy and sour potatoes, stir-fried cabbages, minced pork stir-fried with garlic, and a pot of thick catfish stew. Jacob Ye was a meat eater, but since girls tend to eat vegetables to prevent from gaining weight, the dishes he prepared were mostly vegetarian dishes. "Go on, have a taste." Jacob Ye grinned as he picked up a piece of stir-fried cabbage for her before gobbling up his food. She put it in her mouth and could taste nothing except that it's extremely delicious. Something stirred inside of Molly Tao as she felt the urge to cry. She had just recovered from of her trauma, and what she's asking for is actually really simple. All she needed was a man to take care of her. Speaking of which, this man who seemed to be right in front of her was actually the furthest away from her. "What's wrong? Is it not good?" Jacob Ye asked worriedly. "No... it's delicious." Molly Tao said flatly. "If you like it, I'll cook for you, forever." Jacob Ye chuckled. Jacob Ye was testing to see if Molly Tao has completely recovered from her experience. "Clink." Molly Tao set the bowl harshly on the table, her expression becoming colder by the second. "What's wrong?" Jacob Ye asked, startled. "Don't make promises you can't keep. Words and actions have consequences, whatever you say can and will affect lives." Molly Tao blew up at Jacob Ye, with a gaze that could stab right through his chest. "How would you know that I couldn't?" Jacob Ye gently put down his bowl and chopsticks on the table. "I just do." Molly Tao snapped. Jacob Ye suddenly got up and embraced her in his arms, "I'm different from other men. I am a man of my word, and I never break my promises." "Jacob..." In the blink of an eye, Molly Tao was a blubbering mess, with tears pouring out of her eye sockets. Her heart, made of ice, has finally started to thaw. Jacob Ye was finally relieved. Tears meant that she's finally letting go of her past. Right at this moment, the door creaked open and Old Mister Tao walked in as he said, "Why didn't anyone tell me it was time to eat? None of you even waited up for me?"
