Chapter 101 Misdiagnosis

"Nonsense. Mr. Huang is demonstrating signs of arrhythmia; he has difficulties breathing and is sweating profusely. These are obviously the cause of heart attack." Dr. Yan ignored Jacob Ye and administered the medicine to Mr. Huang. "I can assure you that he will most likely not wake up after you give him the medicine." Jacob yelled. The guards were shocked at Jacob's remarks. They threw an angry glance at him and wondered if that was a curse for their leader's death. Then, one of the guards shouted immediately, "Get lost. Do you know who this old man is? You can't afford to delay the treatment." "Give my method a chance, shall we? Otherwise, the old man will really be in danger." Jacob said with a serious face. "Let's try following my son's method. He's a doctor, I'm sure it'll be alright." Although Yuna Liu was curious as to why Jacob knew so much about the old man's illness, she still supported him out of trust for her son. "Well..." Dr. Yan hesitated and looked at Hayden Huang. "Are you sure that my grandfather isn't having a heart attack?" Hayden asked. Jacob took a quick glance at Hayden and then said faintly, "He's suffering from ankylosing spondylitis. The change of nerves on his legs have caused his paralysis, am I right?" The people around them were shocked. Brooklyn Jiang asked in a hurry, "Can you cure this?" "It can be cured." Jacob said. "If you help our grandfather with his disease, we will forever be grateful." Brooklyn said sincerely with a serious look. "But..." Dr. Yan was at a loss at what to do, holding on to the pills. "Dr. Yan, let's leave this to him." Hayden nodded. To be able to diagnose a disease at a glance, this young man was indeed not a simple person. Jacob walked up to Old Mr. Huang and placed his fingers lightly on his wrist to feel his pulse. Then, he took out a few silver needles and pierced them into several major acupuncture points on Old Mr. Huang. Lastly, he flicked the needles with his right hand and brushed them across his body. A gentle breath came from the end of the needle. Old Mr. Huang's body froze, then his rapid breathing gradually slowed down. After a while, his face began to lose the tinge of yellow. Jacob breathed a sigh of relief, then, he removed the needle and said, "Feed him some cooling water, he should feel better from now on." As Old Mr. Huang slowly woke up, Dr. Yan felt relieved. Then, he broke out in a cold sweat again thinking how he had misdiagnosed Old Mr. Huang moments ago. It would've been a huge problem if he had treated Old Mr. Huang as having had a heart attack. "Thank you very much." He said gratefully to Jacob. Old Mr. Huang slowly sat up from the ground and said with a bitter smile, "I'm old and useless. I can't even walk a short distance without feeling exhausted." "Grandpa, how do you feel?" Brooklyn asked eagerly. "I'm fine, I'm fine. I'm really getting old. Back then, I was able to travel miles without losing my breath." Old Mr. Huang said as he stood up. Brooklyn quickly helped him up. "Young man, your medical skills are pretty good. Thank you very much." Old Mr. Huang said as he cupped his hands with Jacob's in gratitude. "You're welcome. It's part of my job." Then, Jacob turned to Hayden, who was sitting in a wheelchair, and said, "You're a soldier, aren't you?" "Yes..." Hayden nodded and said. Jacob shook his head, sighed, and continued, "This is a common disease among soldiers. You must have found out that you were suffering from ankylosing spondylitis a long time ago. This disease must be treated at an early stage, and you cannot do any more high intensity training. Why didn't you retire from the army when you found out?" "I am a soldier. I will sacrifice my body for the country even if that means death. I will not live in disgrace." Hayden said firmly. Soldiers were born to be soldiers. Their fierce loyalty would never allow themselves to leave the army even if they were to die. "Well, you are brave and admirable. I admire you." Jacob said with respect. "Young man, your medical skills are rather excellent. Can you cure my grandson's illness?" Old Mr. Huang asked casually. After all, Hayden's illness was already in a late stage, as he did not focus on healing his body early on. Hence, there might be no cure to his disease anymore. "It can be cured, and I can ensure you will be able to return to the army after your treatment." Jacob said with a smile. "Really?" Old Mr. Huang, Hayden, and his wife were stunned. They looked at Jacob in disbelief. "Of course, it's true. But we can't drag this any longer, since he did not take precautions at an earlier stage, the nerves in his legs have changed for the worse. This is the cause of his paralysis. Hence, we need to start the treatment vigorously for a period of time." Jacob explained. "Well, as long as you can cure him, you can take all the time you need. Young man, I'll leave my grandson to you. You'll forever be our savior if you can cure him." Old Mr. Huang said excitedly. Upon hearing that his illness could still be cured without having him leave the army, Hayden was also very excited and was at the verge of tearing up. He reached out his hand and said, "Let me introduce myself. I'm Hayden Huang. And this is my wife, Brooklyn Jiang. I believe I'm a few years older than you, so I shall call you Brother." "I'm Jacob Ye." Jacob replied courteously. "Dr. Ye, when can you start the treatment for Hayden?" Brooklyn was crying tears of joy and asked eagerly. "The treatment requires a quiet place, but the medical conditions in this county are limited. I don't know if it's convenient for you to move to Oakdale City for a while?" Jacob said in a low voice. "Haha, what a coincidence! I was planning to visit an old friend in Oakdale City," said Old Mr. Huang with a laugh. "Well, let's go to Oakdale City this afternoon. We'll get everything settled in the morning so we can start the treatment for Brother Huang." Jacob replied. "Yes, sure..." Looking at the incense sticks in Jacob and Yuna's hands, Old Mr. Huang asked doubtfully, "Are you going to pay your respects to your relatives?" "Yes, it's my grandfather." Jacob nodded and said. "What's your grandfather's name?" Old Mr. Huang looked nervous and asked in a hurry. "Cornelius Liu." Jacob said. "You are Old Miracle Doctor Liu's grandson!" Old Mr. Huang's expression changed greatly. "Yes." Jacob answered. "Haha, what a pleasant surprise. I came here wanting to ask Dr. Liu to treat Hayden, but I didn't expect him to have already passed on. Lucky for me, to have bumped in to you! Bless the heavens!" Old Mr. Huang said with a smile. "Do you know my father?" Yuna asked. "I don't just know of him! I would've died years ago if it weren't for Dr. Liu's treatment. He treated me really carefully." Old Mr. Huang said gratefully. "I see." Yuna nodded. After leaving his phone number and address, Jacob went to the cemetery with his mother to pay his respects to his grandfather. After thinking for a while, Old Mr. Huang said to a guard, "Get in touch with Oakdale's Dragon Hill Sanatorium. We're going to Oakdale City right now." The guard nodded and gave the sanatorium a call. "This young man looks quite familiar." Old Mr. Huang murmured. "Grandpa, have you met him before this?" Brooklyn asked curiously. Old Mr. Huang shook his head. "I haven't seen him before. But I just feel that he looks familiar. He looks like a person I know, but I can't pin point who it is."
