The group of doctors felt offended. They were all experts in their own respective areas, and this translator's rude accusation was simply unbearable.
But there was nothing they could do, despite them prioritising the wellbeing of foreign patients such as Fern. It was already obvious that the Chief Physician was very stressed out.
"Is there no one to tell me what's going on?" The Chief Physician roared almost hysterically.
The doctors looked around at one another. Some pretended to look at the results of the examination in their hands, and some pretended to be lost in thought. Some simply turned their eyes away, but none of them answered the Chief Physician.
The Chief Physician was going crazy. When he thought about what the deputy mayor said before leaving, he felt dizzy.
"Useless. All of you! Useless! What's the use of keeping a group of people like you in the hospital? It's been so long, and you can't even find out the cause of the disease."
Master Connor was not an employee of this hospital. He was well-known specialist across the country and was an authoritative figure. He was not under the jurisdiction of the Chief Physician at all.
Although the Chief Physician didn't dare scold him, Master Connor still felt embarrassed. Standing next to him, was another legendary figure in the world of medicine Old Master Wen.
Looking at the examination results in his hands, Master Wen also had a helpless look on his face. "Can they blame a doctor for this? Doctors give diagnosis based on the examination results. If the results are perfectly normal, how could they determine anything?"
"Let me tell you, if anything happens to Mr. Fern, you will be closing down your hospital. We will protest to the embassy and say that you don't value expatriates in this country, and refused to treat him. Then all of you will be fired." The female assistant said viciously.
There was a trace of anger on everyone's faces. The people present were all experts with superb medical skills. Who did she think she was, to complain about us when you are getting the best service nationwide? They all thought.
The Chief Physician was getting a headache. This woman had been shouting non-stop since she arrived.
If it wasn't for her boss, Mr. Fern's special status, the Chief Physician would have thrown this woman out.
But at the moment, he spoke with a forced smile, "Miss Lillie, our doctors are working hard, but as you can see, we really couldn't detect any illness, and Mr. Fern's body functions are all normal... how about I arrange for you to go to Main City for a consultation? "
"Main City is so far from here, it will take a few hours to get there. Besides, plane rides are so bumpy, I don't think Mr. Fern's body can take it. If you can't cure Mr. Fern, you can pack your bags and leave!" Lillie screamed.
Suddenly, Mr. Fern's mouth wriggled a little and he said a few words.
Lillie rushed over and said in a soft voice, "Dear Fern, don't worry, you will be fine."
"What? You want to get up? Can you just wait for a while more? They're all trying to think of a way."
Fern felt better off dead. His body was stiff, unable to move, and he was aching all over.
Lillie calmed Fern down and turned around bellowing, "You guys better think of something, or I'll call the embassy now to complain."
Master Connor's phone rang. When he saw that it was a call from Jacob Ye, his eyes lit up and he walked out quickly.
A moment later, Master Connor led Jacob Ye into the ward.
Upon seeing Jacob Ye walk in, the Chief Physician immediately rushed over as if he had met a savior. He cried out, "Jacob Ye... you're finally here. Please help me."
He had witnessed Jacob Ye's medical skills before. Although he didn't have confidence that Jacob Ye could cure the disease at hand, it was good to have some hope.
Jacob Ye nodded and walked over to Mr. Fern with Master Connor. He started to check for Fern's pulse.
"Who is this?" Another doctor asked in confusion.
"I don't know. Judging from the situation, it must be someone Master Connor invited." Another replied.
"He's so young. How good can he be? Connor must have been desperate and he just called for some random people."
"And he's using traditional Chinese medicine. Are you kidding me? Have you guys ever seen a traditional Chinese doctor this young?"
Hearing all this gossip, Lillie's expression turned ugly. She yelled at Jacob Ye, "Who are you? Are you sure you know how to treat a patient? Mr. Fern is a respectable person. If anything happens to him, you'll never be able to bear the consequences."
Jacob Ye was focused on checking the pulse of the patient. When she screamed at him, he frowned and said, "Shut up."
This assistant was used to being arrogant. There was no doctor who dared to speak to her like that. Jacob Ye was the first one.
Seeing the woman being scolded, the other doctors felt relieved. Although they didn't think Jacob Ye had much medical knowledge, they felt good seeing this woman get the treatment she deserved.
Lillie was shocked. She glared at Jacob Ye angrily and was about to explode in fury.
The Chief Physician quickly stepped forward and comforted her, "This is Dr. Ye, his medical skills are first-class. Besides, Master Connor and Master Wen are also here. Please be rest assured, it'll be alright."
Lillie finally settled down resentfully after hearing that statement. Staring at Jacob Ye, she thought: "If you don't find out what's going on, I'll make sure you go to hell"
Jacob Ye frowned slightly, and he lowered his head in thought.
"There, he has failed. If all of us experts can't even figure out this disease, what can this young bloke do?" The other doctors murmured.
"Exactly. And he's checking the pulse, does he even know how? Pretending to be a traditional Chinese doctor at such a young age. What a joke."
The doctors couldn't help muttering. They were venting out their anger from getting scolded so many times by Lillie.
"Shut up. All of you. You couldn't even diagnose anything with all your advance technology and you dare judge others?" Master Connor snapped at them.
The doctors quickly stopped and did not speak.
After a moment, Jacob Ye's brows relaxed. "So that's the case."
"Do you have an idea already?" Master Connor asked nervously.
Jacob said with a faint smile: "There's no big problem, I just need to administer a few needles for acupuncture and mix up a medicine for him. He'll be fine after a few days of rest."
Jacob Ye then started taking out his needle pouch, and prepared to administer them on Fern.
"Boy, are you really sure?" Master Wen's brows frowned, instinctively doubting Jacob Ye's skills.
"Master Wen, you can be rest assured. I know of young Jacob's abilities. I can bet that when once Jacob understands the diagnosis, the patient will be all right." Master Connor said convincingly.
Hearing Connor having so much trust for the young doctor, Old Master Wen was relieved. He had some knowledge in Chinese medicine, so when Jacob Ye started applying the needles, he went forward and observed intently.
Jacob Ye pulled out more than a dozen silver needles that were as thin as strands of hair, about six-inches long each, from his needle pouch.
