Molly Tao is gorgeous by definition, besides the fact that she's also David Tao's granddaughter. Needless to say, she had countless admirers when she first came to work at the hospital. It's just her cold demeanor, cold eyes, even a cold aura surrounds her. Long story short, you won't need to turn the air conditioner on whenever she's around.
She also seemed to have loathed men. She would never say a word to her male colleagues unless it was absolutely necessary, the doctors even nicknamed her the Ice Queen behind her back.
No one's even noticed when she had begun to thaw, but this alone made her joint-consulting doctor out of focus, his mind won't stop thinking about the ways he could melt the Ice Queen's heart with his unique charms.
Meanwhile, the Ice Queen sitting opposite of him was looking out of the consultation room, the corners of her lips slightly raised.
She was smiling, actually smiling. The young physician thought he was about to break down into tears. The Ice Queen actually smiled. It may not seem like a big deal, because only the curves of her lips were raised, but in that moment alone, it was as if looking at a blooming flower that leaves people feeling astonished in her wake.
Even if he wasn't the reason behind it.
He shifted his glance towards the door, and met eyes with a young man walking over with a smile on his face. This person was in fact, Jacob Ye.
"What brings you here?" Molly Tao's voice sounded a little cold to the touch, though with a tinge of warmth, the kind that makes people feel cozy inside.
"Nothing. I came here to see you. Are you busy?" Jacob Ye asked.
"Not really." Molly Tao got up from her chair and said to the male doctor, "I'll leave today's consultation in your hands."
Before he could say anything, she'd already left.
"Sure, I guess..." For a while there, he couldn't quite make out the words to say to her. By the time he had come up with a reply, Molly had already disappeared with Jacob Ye at the door.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" The male doctor had the urge to slap himself. Did he just create an opportunity for his competition to get close to his Goddess? Poor himself. A blooming ice rose was already picked away by someone else.
After changing out of her white coat, Molly walked out of the hospital with Jacob.
Jacob Ye said, "Give me your hand, let me check your pulse."
Molly Tao hesitated, but she stretched out her right hand to him anyway. Her white and tender wrist as if a work of art.
Jacob Ye quietly stretched out his hands and held her hand in his, rubbing circles in her palm for a few times, before moving on to feel her pulse.
He needed to evaluate the effectiveness of the acupuncture treatment administered the other day. He didn't mean to be offend her. He thought if she'd rejected his request, it means that her condition had gotten worse. If she didn't, it would mean that her condition has gotten better than last time.
Jacob was relieved seeing that Molly didn't turn him down.
While Molly Tao appears to be calm and collected on the outside, the butterflies in her stomach were throwing a fit. If it were any other men, she would have slapped them in the face and wipe her hands down with a napkin.
Speaking of the man in front of her, however, not only was she accepting towards him, but she also can't help but feel a little expectant of him. What is happening to her?
"Not bad. You're recovering better than what I'd expected. Just keep up that optimistic attitude, come back for a few more appointments and you should be just fine." Jacob Ye said.
"Thank you." Molly Tao blurted.
"You're welcome. You're my patient. I have full responsibility to see you to your well being." Jacob Ye said with a smile.
Hearing the words, Molly's heart suddenly skipped a beat, as if something was taken away from her.
"Right. I guess what we have is nothing but a doctor-patient relationship?" She felt her heart string.
Out of the blue, a voice rang out, "What do we have here? Well, if it isn't the infamous Ice Queen, Molly Tao. Is she melting already?"
Molly turned around to see a doctor in a white robe the same as hers elegantly walking towards her with a scorned look on her face.
The woman looks decent in terms of appearance, just not as blessed as Molly.
"It's none of your business." Molly Tao spat, her words cold.
"Of course not, but you should feel glad, Doctor Tao. After all, it's a good thing to be stripped off the title of leftover ladies." The woman giggled.
Yale Guan works in the same department as Molly Tao. She's enthusiastic and is friendly with everyone, which was completely different from Molly Tao's cold demeanor.
There's a saying related to ice and fire circulating in the internal medicine department. Naturally, the ice describes Molly Tao, and without a doubt, the fire describes Yale Guan.
The ability to get along with everyone made Yale Guan seem like she was a better person compared to Molly Tao, though she'd never win in terms of her looks, family background, and medical expertise. Jealousy is women's strongest suit, so Yale Guan never liked Molly Tao anyway, so she'd always take it out on her whenever she gets the chance.
"Better late than never, unlike somebody who hasn't even been able to strip off the virgin title off their heads." Molly Tao shot back at her.
Jacob Ye was caught off guard. He didn't expect that the cold Molly Tao could come up with a snappy remark like that.
Yale Guan is a Casanova at best, the term being friendly with everyone literally meant she's slept with almost everyone that she knows. Everyone knew about it, though no one would say it to her face, they'd just mutter about it behind her back.
Nevertheless, this was a first comeback for Molly Tao.
Yale Guan's heard this and her face fell. She screamed, "It's still better than an old woman who can't find anyone for herself. What's the matter? Can't find someone your own age that you've started scouting for men who are younger than you? Guess what? That makes you old, and pathetic."
As a matter of fact, Molly Tao was about two or three years older than Jacob Ye. It couldn't have been that bad, could it?
Jacob Ye pondered to himself, "Am I too young?"
The commotion between the two women attracted onlookers, including doctors and the family members of patients.
The infamous ice and fire, not only in the Internal medicine department, but also of the entire hospital. The news broke out and filled in the large gap caused by the hollow and emptiness of idle working hours, igniting the spirit of gossip among the doctors as they surrounded the two women.
Undeniably the ones who could not contain their excitement were the patients' next of kin. Taking care of family is a lot of work, and the effort had wore them down a long time ago. They find it amusing that two beautiful doctors were having a standoff of their own. What else could be more thrilling than that?
"Like I said, this has nothing to do with you. You'd be better off fixing your hymen as soon as you can, so that you can do it with another man who's old enough to be your dad."
Molly Tao's words shocked the audience to the core, before they exploded into bursts of laughter.
Jacob Ye felt a chill run down his spine. Women are a scary species indeed.
"You... bitch." Yale Guan was furious. She cursed, "You're always out and about with your poker face, thinking that you're better than everyone else, who knows how many men you've hooked up with in the past. Now that you've found your boy toy, you should feel grateful towards him because otherwise, people might even start to think that you're a celibate girl."
