Chaim drove to the villa area by the bay. He stopped in front of a large villa manor.
He got out of the car and said respectfully, "After you, Holy Doctor."
Jacob nodded and headed into the villa.
The moment he entered the villa, a strange smell overwhelmed him. He was surprised to see a pile of burnt yellow paper in the middle of the door.
There were offerings and paper-tied dummies at the base of the yellow papers. People of Garvila were quite superstitious. They would burn offerings on the first and fifteenth day each month to either worship their ancestors or send away the wandering spirits of ghosts and deities.
However, Jacob sensed a wave of magic power from this pile of yellow paper. He thought that perhaps there were more to burning them as offerings.
