Chapter 2

1311 Words
Looking at myself in the mirror, you could tell I was nervous. I had all weekend to try and pull my head out of my ass. Why would I willingly try to jump the Alpha’s bones for. And not just any Alpha, the Big Alpha, the King of all wolves. I must be out of my damn mind for even kissing him. *He wanted it too.* Moonlight said, *He was all over us* *Hey, about that, why were you all over this man, why were you so ready to take him? He is not our mate. But his hands on me felt so good, and I don’t know, but I felt tingles on me when he was kissing his way down my neck.* Moonlight was quiet for so long I thought she was hiding again. Until she said *I don’t know. As soon as I smelled him, it was like I came alive. I wanted to lick and bite him all over his body.* *You horny dog.* I laughed when she cut the link. Looking at the clock on the well, I gave out a little sigh. OK, I can do this. I’m sure he doesn't remember me. I never gave out my name. I’m sure he doesn't even remember what I look like. What I'm saying, he is the King. He will know how I look. Walking through the front doors of Zimmerman, I took my badge and signed in. When I get the green light, I walk through the metal detectors that lead to the elevators. After waiting what feels like 30 mins, I get off on the 10th floor and walk to my office. Trying not to make it look obvious what I was doing last Friday at the party, or who I was doing it with. Just in case anyone sees, I keep my head high and don’t make eye contact with anyone. So far so good, no looks, no talking, nothing. Maybe everyone wasted that night to even remember. Trying my best to get to my corner office in a fast but not obvious way. I opened and closed my office door and quickly made my way to my little desk. Sitting down, the first thing I saw was a picture of my mate and myself at one of the beach resorts he took me to. Moonlight whimpered as I was trying not to cry. I really need to get his picture off my desk. I don’t need to keep looking at it. He’s getting married. He doesn't want me anymore. I just don’t know what I did to deserve this. After a good hour at work, I got an email. I really did not have time to get emails. That’s why I have a secretary. She takes care of all the emails. All emails need to go to her. Giving out a frustrated sigh, I opened my email to see who it was from. Whoever it was from, we are not going to be happy getting an email back from me. My mouth fell open. It was from the CEO, The King. Oh, no, this is not going to be good. I’m about to lose my job, and I've been working here for 8 years. My hands started to shake, and I could feel sweat on my palms. I clicked on the email to open it. Dear Ms. Vincent, I was a little surprised to see my office cleaned when I returned to it the next day. I was even more surprised when I did not find your name and number on my desk. I was hurt by that. I was hoping we could continue our little meeting we had last week. Please come up to the 13th floor, and Tristan can bring you up here. He is waiting for you. Sooner than later, but anytime you are free, it will work for me. - King Zimmerman No, no, I will not be going to him. We will not be continuing the little meeting we had last week. *It sounds to me like he wants to play with us. Sage, be a good little human and go see what he and his wolf want.* *No, no, we are not going up there. What happened that night will never, and I mean never, happen again.* *You are not far.* Moonlight cried. * He and his wolf wanted to play. Please let them play with us.* Again she cried. *I have work to do. I can’t just stop working and go see what this man wants. I’m working really hard, trying to get our life back together again, after what Nox has and still is doing to us.* I snapped. I pushed her back and closed the email. I will not be emailing him back, I will not be going up there. I can’t be thinking about him right now. I have software that is about to be tested next week and I need to make sure everything looks and works right. So, that is what I did. I did not leave my office. My thoughts about next week were interrupted when I heard a low and husky growl. Popping my head up over my laptop. My eyes go big when I see the King in my office . I glanced around, but no one was in the office. My eyebrows creased when I didn't see anyone at their desk. "Where did everyone go?" I was asking myself out loud. "It's lunchtime, and why are you not at lunch?" Theo asked. Looking back at the Alpha, I brought my lunch. I have too much work to do to take an hour off work." "So, this is what you do. You work day and night, to keep yourself busy," he asked, looking at me from the door. "Yes, there is too much work to do with my time." I did not mean to snap, but it came out that way. "And you being here and asking me nonsense questions, is not helping me out that much, or your business." Looking back at my laptop, trying to get back to work. But I can't do that. If this man is going to be standing here with his incredible smell, I will not be getting any work done. I looked back up at him. He was just watching me, "Can I help you with something, King Alpha?" hoping if I used his professional name, he would leave faster, and I could get back to work. With a little smile on his face,"Yes, there is something you can help me with. Something happened to my work computer and my personal computer and I need someone to look at it." Looking at the smile on his face, I don't think there is anything wrong with his work or personal computer. "Then you may want to call IT, that is the 3rd floor, sir." I gave him a little node hoping he could just leave. I don't need him here, no one can see the King in my office. He has never been to my office in the past 8 years. Why now? "I don't know any of them, and what I found out about you, you can work on any laptop, computer, cell phone and get it to work in minutes. Or was your resume lining about that?" My eyes squinted at him. Oh, he knows how to get me all worked up. Implying I can't do something. "Are you implying that I can't fix a computer?" I asked, feeling my blood run hot. "Not at all Ms. Vincent. Just making sure your resume was right." still smiling, he was still smiling as if he was getting me worked up, making me mad. I had to get this man out of my office before the workers came back from lunch.
