I stared at the phone in front of me with fear on my face, willing the ringing to stop. He didn't sound pleased in his mail and I was scared of what he was going to say. He could be really brutal when he was mad.
I loved him and I never did anything wrong, but I didn't want to disappoint him.
I have been anticipating the words, hoping I would hear "It's ok.
You didn't do anything wrong.
I am proud of you and all you've accomplished."
but all I heard was,
"Seriously? You left the phone ringing for thirty minutes."
"I'm sorry. I stepped out and took longer than planned."
"I'm not one you can fool. That aside, how everything going?"
"Very well. They are starting to have issues....
He burst into a laugh that sent chills down my spine and he let out a deep sigh.
