Jully walked into the house like a lost sheep. She had managed to locate the place with the address Mrs Weenly Anderson gave to her. Mrs Weenly was a close friend to the Adams and the family's personal doctor. She had promised to look for someone who will look after Mrs Adams as her Job had become too demanding. When she saw Jully, she knew her search was over. Jully took a sharp glance at the house. She had once lived in a big house. But that of the Adams was nothing compared to anything she has seen before. It was beautifully painted white with golden chandeliers hanging gracefully on the ceiling. Artifacts from Africa was used to decorate a corner of the living room. It had the modern kind of look with a touch of retro designs. The framed pictures on the wall caught her attention the most. She imagined what kind of people would be living in that kind of house. Their taste gave her a little clue, it described their affluence in details. While she was still engrossed in her thoughts and questions, a lady walked in. "How may I help you Miss"? The woman asked. "My name is Juliana. Jully for short. Nice to meet you Ma'm" she stretched her hand for a handshake. She didn't know who it was but somehow she had thought it was Mrs Adams or even her daughter. "Oh Ma'm, we've been expecting you" She cheerfully said, stretching her hand for a shake. Jully was shocked at the manner the lady had addressed her. She didn't understand why a person of that class would dare to Accord her such level of respect. The woman looked at her and read the confusion on her face. "My name is Betty. The Adams oldest maid and Mrs Adams personal maid. Mrs Margaret has been waiting for you. Shall we"? She moved closer to her, took her bags and signalled her to come with her. Many thoughts ran through Jully's mind. She didn't know if she was ready to meet anyone not to talk or working for them. The thought alone sent chills down her spine. When they got to a room, she saw a woman wheeled to a chair and had used a side of the bed to support her back. As soon as the woman saw Jully, her face lit up with brightness. Jully managed to feign a smile she tried so hard to suppress a while ago. "Good Morning, Miss Juliana. You're welcome to my home" The woman's voice sounded like that of an angel. From her words she quickly deducted that she was Mrs Margaret Adams. "Thanks Ma'am" Jully said and slowly walked towards her. "Betty, kindly show Juliana to her room. She must have had a long day and would be needing some rest. While she's taking her rest make sure to serve her some food" Mrs Adams said cheerfully Betty nodded as a sign to show she understood everything perfectly Mrs Adams turned to Jully and said "You're free to request for anything you would like her to prepare for you. When you're done resting, we would have our conversation. Let me save you all that stress for now" Jully woke up the next day and tried to get to Mrs Margaret room so they could have a conversation. But she had a hard time finding the room. The more she searched, the longer she kept searching. The house was very big and there were many rooms in it which made her even more confused. She finally walked into the kitchen, where she met Betty. She apologized for barging in and tried walking out. Betty realizing that she had lost her way gave out a mocking laughter making Jully feel embarrassed. Noticing Jully's Countenance, she quickly apologized and offered to direct her to the right room. "I'm sorry Ma'm. Pls come" Betty said while leading the way. They got to Mrs Margaret's room. She knocked and they both got in. When they got there, Jully noticed the woman was in the same position she was when she saw her last night. She wondered if she slept that way but quickly snapped out of the thought when Mrs Margaret rolled her chair towards her. This time, she didn't wait for her to speak first. She greeted her and went straight to the point. "Mrs Weenly Anderson, the woman who interviewed me on a Nursing Job months ago said a lot about you without telling me what it is I'm required to do for you and your family. I really want to know why I'm here Ma'm"? She curiously asked while maintaining a politeness. While Mrs Margaret tried to speak, the door creaked open and a gentle young man walked in. He walked straight to Mrs Margaret and kissed her on the forehead. She grabbed his face and kissed him on both cheeks. Jully didn't need a soothsayer to tell her that the man was her son. She couldn't see his face cos he had backed her while facing his Mum. But she was arrested by the strong scent that oozed from his body. His smell permeated the whole room and give it a more brighter and colorful look. "Mother I have to leave now, there is a lot to do at the office today" The man said. His deep baritone voice was very soothing to the ears. It sounded like one of the voices used for singing beautiful classical songs. His mother reached out for his shirt and buttoned it properly while arranging his collar. "Do I really have to do this everyday Chris"? His mother asked " As long as you're here. Then it's your job. Cos I'm your Baby for life" His mother smiled and squeezed his cheeks "Ouch Mother! That's not fair" They both laughed. He grabbed the briefcase he had dropped on the bed and made his way to the car. A man joined him as he walked out. Jully didn't notice there was someone else at the door. She was engrossed in the drama that played out between the mother and her son. It reminded her of her own Mother who left when she was just seven. She smiled inwardly and tried not to think of her mother because It brings back past memories she would not like to dwell on. The conversation Chris had interrupted made her upset. It took her a lot of courage to express herself especially when it comes to strangers. She felt more free and confident with Family. Besides, his mother was not the only one in the room. How is it that he couldn't even say hello to her or to someone else? She would have concluded that the heirs in a wealthy home are arrogant if she had not met Mike. To her, Mike was an epitome of Character, Simplicity and virtue. A quality a lot of men lacked. She wondered if there can ever be any man like him. "No! There's just one of his kind and that's, My Mike"
