"Mrs Adams, asked me to work in their company as a health care specialist. She said I could start tomorrow" Jully remarked
"Wow! This is some great news. You finally get to work in a work environment, not just a home. I'm so proud of you Babe" Mike Gabby said
" Thank you" Jully said, folding her hands together as an expression of gratitude
"I love this whole idea. But, what do you plan to do with Mrs Adams" Mike Gabby curiously asked
"Well, I've discussed with her and she's okay with me working on the two. But, Mrs Adams is not my problem.... It's someone esle" Jully said, making a sad face.
" Who"? Mike asked rasing his eyebrows
"Her son, Chris. The arrogant brat. I can't stand that man. The thought of working for him and working in the same place with him makes me feel so sick" Jully angrily uttered
" You can't be serious right now. It isn't that bad right?" Mike Gabby asked
" Bad is an understatement. He's a jerk!" She sharply remarked
Mike laughed but changed his countenance immediately he noticed Jully was serious and even worried.
"Well, I still think he can't be that bad. You said he's always busy at the office. That means he has a really busy life and might never have the time to bother you at the office"
" Blah, Blah, Blah". Jully said, rolling her eyes while scratching her hair.
"You don't know him like I do. But, I will make sure to mind my business and not interfere in his. I don't want to have anything to do with him" she said.
" Alright, her Royal Majesty. Prepare your mind and hope for nothing less than the very best and if he ever bothers you or makes you feel uncomfortable, just call on your James bond to come teach him a lesson" Mike Gabby said Jokingly
Jully didn't know when she started laughing as Mike spoke. She has never seen Mike fight or ever threaten to beat anyone.
But for her, he can become Commando, James bond, Kungfu master or anything at all.
Talking with him feels thereupatic. It was one super power he had that she enjoyed the most. Infact, the Tony's each had a super power that made them unique. Mike's sister Caryn, who studies overseas is not an exception. She was what they called 'The life of the party'. She can change any place to suit her mood as long as she wants to. But, somehow Jully inwardly struggled to fit in even though they always tried to make her fit in.
They were silent for a while and stared at each other lovingly.
" I miss you so badly, Mike. I just wish you were here with me" Jully said, with an eye flooded with emotions
Mike smiled but the smile disappeared almost instantly.
"I've missed you too and even more. Mama (Mrs Lilian Tony) has really been worried about you. She wants to know when you will visit home" Mike Gabby quickly remarked
"Oh my God! She wants me back already?" Jully asked in surprise, attempting to put up a smile
" Yes! And...." Mike Gabby opened his mouth to speak but he couldn't find the courage to let out the words. He smiled and tried to change the topic. He didn't want Jully to feel sad
"And... Papa misses you too" He quickly remarked
"No! That's a lie Mike. I could read your heart you know? I know you didn't want to say that" Jully's eyes widened. Different thoughts were already clouding her mind. Mike's countenance says it all, something wasn't right and she really needs to know
"She was at the hospital...
She fell ill. But, she's back now. We brought her back home yesterday and now she's doing really great and fine. That's what I wanted to tell you" Mike quickly blurted
"Oh Mike... That's really sad. I'm so sorry. I feel so bad right now. Why didn't you tell me? I would have made up an excuse just to come home. Jully said, covering her hands with her face while shaking her head.
"It okay, My Love. There's really no need for that now. You can come back whenever you're free. We will take care of Mama for you" Mike assured her.
Jully pulled off her hands from her face. Looked away for a while and turned her face back to Mike.
Mike Gabby asked her if she was feeling sleepy. She nodded in the positive.
He smiled and tried to make her sleep.
"I want you to lie down on the bed. Imagine me laying close to you, whispering your favourite songs into your ears While caressing your resplendent skin" He seductively said
Jully crawled to the bed. She stared at him for a while until her eyes blinked slowly.
In a split of seconds, she was already in her dream world.
Mike watched her fall asleep and blew a goodnight kiss through the phone. He loved watching her sleep. It was one of his favorite things to do.
The next day, she resumed the office very early. She was supposed to meet with Chris who has now become her new boss. But when she checked with his his secretary, she was told he has not arrived the office yet.
"Chris left for the office in the morning very early. How come he hasn't gotten here yet?"
She sat down and waited. She checked her time, two hours, thirty minutes and he's yet to arrive.
She got tired of waiting and made to leave. Just as she was about to leave, she was told by the secretary (Jocelyn Woods) that Chris has arrived and could she go in to see him.
Jully hurriedly made her way to the door and knocked only once. Without waiting for any reply, she barged into the office, stood motionless for some seconds and hurriedly left.
She already stopped a taxi when she heard a woman's voice calling her name. She turned, it was Jocelyn Woods, the Company's secretary and Christopher Adams Personal Assistant.
"Miss Juliana Evernear, My boss would like to speak with you immediately" the woman said
Jully didn't want to go back in. But, she feared she might also loose the opportunity she had long craved for.
After much hesitation, she slowly walked back into the office.
"Basic manners demands that one knocks and then waits to hear a clear response before barging into an office. I believe it's not that difficult. Pls kindly have a seat, Miss"
Chris said, pointing at the seat opposite him.
She sat down gently and held unto her handbag tightly. She was embarrassed and at the same time disappointed. The image she had earlier seen when she walked into the office before, repeatedly played on her mind.
"How could he? Just how could be so careless?" she thought within herself.
