CHAPTER NINETEEN We joined the throngs of people who went about their shopping and work. The sun was setting as we neared the lake and I watched as the lamps atop their posts came alive with gas-fed flames. The crowds thinned as people stepped into their homes and the many restaurants for the evening meal. The city came alive with the sounds of singing and laughing and the lights from the establishments stretched out through the windows and doors and onto the streets. I took in a deep breath and smiled. “This is so much different from the other capitals.” Tegan nodded. “It’s younger.
