Chapter 19
Sebastian lay comfortable in Charlie’s bed. Charlie was beside him. He rolled over onto his side, so Sebastian did the same. They looked at each other.
“I will wait for you.” Charlie’s eyes were soft and more than a little sad. “How long before you go?”
“I don’t know.” Sebastian didn’t know anything anymore. The army had seemed so damned important, but he was beginning to think that its importance was directly related to the seeming impossibility of it happening. His father, it seemed, understood his nature far better than his brother and knew better than to offer violent opposition. He shifted and tucked a hand beneath his cheek.
“Father has put me in a bit of a quandary, truth told.”
“How so?” Charlie mirrored his action.
“Well, it seemed damned important for so long. I’
