Lily sat happily in the backseat of Jamie's four-door sedan—a real mom's car, as Jamie liked to call it with a mix of pride and sarcasm. Crumbs from snacks past lined the cupholders, and a faint scent of apple juice lingered in the air. It wasn't glamorous, but it got her to where she wanted to go, so she never complained.
