Chapter Thirteen

Keiran's Pov

Carlos and I walked out of my room into my office. We went towards the table for when Ayla comes back with the end of day reports and proposals. The three of us need to review and revise all the proposals. Carlos and I need to agree on which proposals are beneficial to the company.

"So Keiran what's going on between you and your hot assistant?" Carlos said to me as he sat down in a chair at the table. I sat down at the head of the table and looked at him and said in a stern voice, "Nothing is going on between Ms. Sanchez and I! You need to mind your own business!" He smirked and put his hands up like a surrender, "Take it easy Keiran haha I was just asking. You both looked so suspicious of something when I came in. So you can't blame me for being curious. So seriously nothing is going on between you two? You know you can tell me Keiran. I'm not just your advisor. I have been your best friend for years now."

It is true Carlos has been my best friend that I can only trust since I started the company seven years ago. He helped build the company from the bottom to the top. He is my advisor for a reason. He has advised me through so many contracts. I don't think I would be here if it wasn't for him. I should just tell him the truth. I ran my hands through my hair and sighed. "Nothing is happening between us but we almost kissed before you came and knocked." I looked at him and he looked shocked. I then asked him, "Remember when I told you about my middle school sweetheart?" He replied, "Yes I remember you telling me but you never told me who she was." I leaned forward in my chair and put both my arms on the table. I was getting nervous to tell him that my assistant is my sweetheart. "Well Ms. Sanchez is my middle school sweetheart. Her name is Ayla Sanchez." I finally told him. His eyes widened and he straightened up in his chair. "She is the one? Wow that's good news Keiran. Dang you two didn't waste no time to reconcile ha. Wait? Isn't she engaged to someone else though? I saw the ring on her finger and I heard her tell Aidan she was engaged to be married. Unless that someone is you?" he said while pointing his finger at me.

I sighed, "No she's not engaged to me, she's engaged to someone else. I know. I know it looks bad but it's not what you think. I am trying to win her back. I think I still have a chance as long as she doesn't get married. I still love her even after all these years and seeing her today confirmed that." Carlos set his hand on top of mine and gave me a smile, "Well Keiran get your girl but I will tell you do not get too attached because I don't want to see you get wrecked in the end, if she decides she is going to marry this other guy. From what I saw in the room a few minutes ago it seems like she is still interested in you also." I smiled back at him, "Thanks man I just hope I don't mess up this chance I have. Oh by the way next time you wait until I respond back to you before you come knocking on my door. Got it?" Carlos burst out in a laughing fit, "Haha okay man. I will wait next time, for you to have your kissing session first." I just sighed and flipped him off.

Ayla's Pov

I ran out of Keiran's office so fast when Carlos came into the room and knew something was going on between Keiran and I. Once I made it into my office I just leaned up against the door and slid down to the floor. I feel so ashamed. I almost betrayed Seth. Why are you holding back? Keiran is back and right in front of you. Do you even really love Seth? The voice in my head rang through my mind. I do love Seth, he has been very good to me these past six months. He has not done me wrong, all he has done is love me. That is why I'm holding back because Seth is a great man and he doesn't deserve this from me. You weren't holding back in the room with Keiran you practically begged him to kiss you. If it wasn't for Keiran's advisor knocking on the door, you two would have kissed. I reached for my lips and I could still feel the small touch of his lips on mine. Our lips were practically touching. The small warmth sparks, my whole body melting from the warmth touch. It was an intense feeling even if it was a small graze.

I had lost myself in Keiran and I can't do that. I love Seth he is the one for me. I am safe and secure with him. Keep telling yourself that you know it's not true. You are going to do more harm than good. No I am not lying to myself and I will not! This internal mind battle I am having with myself is starting to drain me. I need to go home soon. I stood up from the floor, trying to push all my thoughts in the back of my head, and I walked over to my desk to gather all the documents and proposals. I didn't want to go back to Keiran's office but I had to. I grabbed my phone and I immediately felt this guilt seeing a message from Seth.

Seth: Hey love! Do not worry about getting anything after work just come straight home. I made dinner for us. I love you. See you after work.

I don't have the heart to message back. I just put my phone on top of my tablet and paper and headed out towards Keiran's office. I knocked once I got to his office. "Come in." I heard Keiran say. I walked in and I saw Carlos and Keiran sitting at the table looking over the documents Carlos brought with him. They didn't bother looking at me which I'm glad it would have made me feel even more nervous and ashamed of myself. I immediately sat down and put my phone to the side to grab all the documents and proposals. I handed them to Carlos. "Mr. Delgado here are the proposals and notes from today's meeting. I have highlighted all the important information so they are better to see." Carlos looked up and smiled, "Thank you Ms. Sanchez. Dang you are making my job a lot easier, the last assistant never did this. Mr. Martinez you have a good assistant here." I looked over to Keiran and I saw him looking at my phone that I had set aside unlocked. I forgot to lock it. He looked up at me with a stoic look and just slid my phone towards me. I saw that I left it on Seth's message. The nerve of him invading my privacy even if I did leave it unlocked. I quickly grabbed my phone and locked it and put it on the other side of me. He looked away from me and looked at Carlos, he said in a stern gruff voice, "Ya we will see how she does the next few months. Today is just her first day."

What is wrong with him all of a sudden. Is he jealous of seeing Seth's message? He shouldn't be angry. Whatever I'm just going to ignore his behavior and get to work. We all just stayed silent after Keiran's comment working on all the documents. Keiran and Carlos finally settled on Mr. Shonjin's proposal. It was the most beneficial for the company. Once we were done Carlos bid us farewell he was heading home. It was just Keiran and I in his office now. I sat there waiting for him to dismiss me so I could start going home. I was looking at him while he signed the last of the documents.

He finally looked up at me with no emotion on his face. "Here are all the documents ready to be delivered to my lawyers. I also need to discuss something with you." Oh no please don't tell me he wants to talk about what happened in the room. "Yes Keiran." He kept his face emotionless, "While we are at work, address me as Mr. Martinez." Is he being serious he is still wanting to act childish. "Okay, Mr. Martinez." He sat back in his chair and proceeded, "This Thursday we are traveling to New York to meet with the client who cancelled today's meeting. So you will need to prepare for it because we leave early in the morning on Thursday. We will return Sunday afternoon." Oh my gosh! I'm going to be traveling to New York. I have never traveled anywhere as far as. I'm excited.
