THIRTY-TWO Angie arrived at her parent’s condo around 2 a.m. Both Rachel and Joe greeted her with worried expressions. Rufus was happy to see her. “Are you all right? Can I get you something to drink? Food?” her mother asked, concern written all over her face. “I’m fine, Mom. It’s over now.” Angie looked fine, but was she really? “Is it? Aren’t you upset?” she asked. “Not anymore,” Angie said. “I just need some sleep.” Her face looked drawn and tired. “She’s right. Let her go to bed. No doubt she’s exhausted,” Joe said. “Okay. But if you need anything, rap on the bedroom door.” Rachel looked more upset than Angie. “Good night. Thanks for putting me up,” Angie said, turning toward her old bedroom.
