Chapter 3

1131 Words
Asher's POV Nothing sickened me more than being in a social gathering like this with the lowly packs, but I had no option but to be here. It was the mating ceremony and despite the fact that I hated being in any of these ceremonies, I had no choice but to oblige to my sister's whimping. She had an habit of taking over the role of a mother and a child. I had intentionally decided to come late to the ceremony, expecting it to be over, but still, the Shadow Moon pack was still full. I walked up the few stairs and immediately, I felt a strong push and desire. "It's coming!" Arcane, my wolf danced in delight. I fought against the rush of desire as I walked into the house. "Nothing is coming," I replied telepathically to him. I wanted to go unnoticed, but, before I took more steps into the house, with the strong desire trying its best to cloud my senses, someone's body collided against mine. In a bottled anger, I looked at the person and saw that it was..a girl? She kept her head down, apologizing and ruining my shirt the more with her pathetic effort to get off the stains. "I'm sorry, I.." "Save your apology," I responded coldly. Her apology meant nothing to me. She had succeeded in making everyone aware of my presence. Her eyes met mine and immediately I was drawn to the twin pool silvery-rain colored eyes. The scent of jasmine and purple lavender filled my nostrils and I knew immediately that I was done for. "Mate!" Arcane screamed in a joyous stead. "Mate," the words came out strangely from my mouth. "What?" Was her response , coupled by the shocked look on her face. How could I possibly be mated to an omega and a scrawny looking one that? I pondered in perplexity as I stared at her with a scowl on my face. I realized I was still holding her hand and let go immediately. I straightened up. This was my miserable fate now and I had no choice but to accept it. At least, to get Uriel, my sister, off my back. Staring into those incredibly beautiful and innocent eyes of hers, I knew I was in trouble. "You'll be returning to the Northwest with me," I replied without giving her a moment to think as I turned to walk away. " I, I.. " she began to stammer. I noticed she wasn't following me. I turned back and there she was, looking around frantically. "I am not a man of many words, little mouse. When I speak, my orders are followed immediately," I said in a condescending tome as I scrutinized her. "I.." she still could not conjure sentences. I leaned my face closer to her. "I do not take no for answer," There was no doubt she was frightened and would refuse to go with me. I did not have the time to solicit with a woman or cajole her. "I will..." She was about to speak, when all of a sudden, a raven dark haired lady interrupted her. "Alpha, I see you've met Camila," she said with a sweet smile as she draped her hand over my little mouse's shoulder. My eyes were focused on my mate. So, her name was Camila. Touche. "The w***e of the Shadow Moon pack," she finished off and I turn to look at her sharply. What did she just say? She smiled as she pulled away from my little mouse. She turned to the everyone. "Every Shadow Moon here know about the s****l activities of Camila and there's no virile male in this pack that has not been to that unholy sanctuary of Camila, except the alpha of course. He cannot indulge in such dirtiness," she said and everyone began to murmur. "Sam..." My little mouse could barely speak. Sam, as she was just called, turned in my direction. "Do not be surprise, alpha. It's a thing of pleasure and joy for Camila since she turned fourteen," she said. "What are you doing, young lady?" I asked her, with a blank expression on my face. Was she doing exactly what I was thinking? "Forgive my outburst, alpha, but I cannot let you get stuck with a w***e," she replied. "Do you know what I do to liars?" I asked her, staring at her without fazing and I could see a shimmer of fear in her eyes. "I cut off their tongues and feed them to the wild dogs," "Believe me when I say I tell nothing but the truth, alpha. Ask the men around. They would give you more details of her body. I have no reason to lie against a pauper," she said confidently. "Sam, please... " My little mouse began to plead. What was she pleading for? Was it all true? I raised a brow at the congregation and the males and females of the Shadow Moon pack nodded. " She has a birthmark up her thighs and also on her butt," one of men said and laughter erupted from all of them. I clenched my hand into a fist and stared at my little mouse. Tears clouded her eyes. How could someone with such innocent eyes be capable of all these allegations? Camila's POV I could hardly believe all the lies I was hearing about me. All these words coming from my sister and the pack was agreeing with her. I am not a w***e and would never be! "Is this true?" Alpha Asher's crude voice broke into my painful thoughts and when I looked into his eyes, I felt my world shatter. He believed them. "There's no need to ask her, alpha. She cannot deny. Do not tell me that you're willing to be with a w***e? These are not allegations but facts. In fact, due to her promiscuity, she is offered always to the guests that comes around," Sam continued to speak as tears slipped down my eyes. "That's enough," alpha Asher bellowed at her and she shuddered as she immediately stopped talking. He turned to me. "Do you have birthmarks on your thigh and.." he could not bring himself to say the words. I swallowed hard. There was no way I could lie to him. "Yes, I.." I began to say and from the look in his eyes, I could tell he hated me right now. He straightened up and the atmosphere was suddenly tensed. "I, alpha Asher Reed of the Nightcrawlers, hereby reject you, Camila of the Shadow Moon pack as my mate," he said callously and I was horrified by his words. I felt everything in me, breaking. Every strength in me, leaving as I stared at him in shock and pain.
