Camila's POV
Tears flowed freely down my cheeks as alpha Asher walked away without sparing me a glance. Despite the fact that I could not feel the mate bond, I was broken. Broken that my one chance of leaving this life of misery was completely ruined.
Sam followed alpha Asher almost immediately, as the guests in the pack house began to disperse. Each of them leaving the pack house with a scornful look on their faces as they stared at me.
My world was crumbling beneath my feet and the more I tried to hold back my tears and not let them see me cry, the more the tears cascaded down my cheeks.
The pack house was soon empty and as I stood there, staring at the door alpha Asher just walked out of, my mother pulled me back to reality with her harsh tone. "What are you still doing here? Isn't the ceremony over? Start tidying up, immediately," she barked at me.
I turned to her, tears burning in my throat. My heart was heavy and I could barely speak." Why?" Was the only word I could utter. Why were they treating me this way? Why were they treating me like an outcast? How could my own sister say such horrible things about me and right before me?
"What do you mean why?" Alpha Ridge finally spoke. A few minutes ago, it was like the cat got his tongue. He was no doubt frightened by the presence of alpha Asher. He cowered before him. "Get to work immediately," he ordered.
I swallowed the lump that filled my throat and like a lamb led away for sacrifice, I obeyed his orders. From the corner of my eyes, I saw him leave the hall.
Despite the pain I felt in my heart and on my body, I did as I was told. Soon, Sam came back to the house. She had an excited look on her face as she rushed over to mother.
"Mother, mother," she chirped. "I have good news," she said happily as she held mother's hands.
Mother smiled pleasantly. "You always have good news. Tell me what it is," she replied.
Sam looked my way with a cynical smile on her face. "Alpha Asher Reed has asked me to return to the Northwest as his wife," she dropped the news and the tray of plates I was returning to the kitchen fell from my hands and broke into tiny pieces. I stared at her in horror. Was I hearing things? How could this be possible? She wasn't even his mate!
"This is incredible! You'll become a Luna!" Mother was thrilled and Sam nodded. She was all full of smiles as she looked back at mother. "I'll get your things ready immediately for your departure," she added.
"No," I found myself saying and they both stared at me. "This cannot be happening," I said.
"And what do you mean?" Sam inquired with a raised brow.
I swallowed. "A few minutes ago, you were here saying a lot of lies about me and now, you're leaving... Leaving with my mate!" I voiced out.
"He's not your mate. He rejected you," she replied as she let go of mother's hands.
"Because of you, and those callous lies you said about me," I replied. My heart was racing against my chest.
"I didn't ask him to believe me, but he did," she said with a snicker as she walked up to me.
"Why are you doing this to me? All I've ever done was love you and do all of your bidding!" I blurted out.
"Love me? You must be mad for saying that,"
"Why are you so cruel? All those lies you said about me, you know they are not true. Yet, you said all those things to take my place!" I yelled. I was practically shaking already. I was unable to control my emotions.
"That's enough!" Mother yelled, shutting me up as she walked up to us. "No one took your place. Sam just took her rightful position,"
This sparked a lot of emotions in me. " Rightful position?" I inquired in anger. "Your daughter just told awful lies about me and you know they are far from the truth. You and I know that Sam is the w***e of the pack. She's even alpha Ridge's mistress!" I let my emotions take over me as I blurted out the truth.
A slap fell across my face. "How dare you call my daughter a w***e before me?" Mother demanded in anger.
My tear bags unzipped and the tears rolled down uncontrollably. "Am I not your daughter too? Why do you treat me this way? Sam gets all your love and I get nothing but disgust from you," I fell to my knees weeping. "If you hate me this much, why don't you kill me, mother? Kill me, so I would die by your hands," I sobbed.
She pushed me to the floor as she walked away with Sam. I laid on the floor, crying my heart out.
Soon, she walked down with Sam and her luggage and before I knew it, they were out of the pack house. I knew there at that point that my sister had taken my mate away from me. She had betrayed me. I laid there, unable to move. This was the longest night of my life. I felt nothing but betrayal and rejection.

The sun rays filtered through the long windows and rested on my face, forcing me to wake up. I slowly opened my eyes, feeling nothing but pains and aches. I realized that I had slept in the hall and nobody had come to drag me out.
With a heavy sigh, I dragged myself up to a sitting position. Everything before me was dazed and I thought of the event that happened last night as a dream.
Just then, the other omegas walked into the hall to finish up the cleaning. They picked up the trays and began to walk away.
"I still can't believe Samantha is going to be the Luna of the Nightcrawlers in a few days," one of them said.
"I know right? It was just yesterday that she was an omega. I envy her," the other said.
It dawned on me that I did not have a dream. Everything was real. I had a mate last night. He rejected me due to Samantha's lies and now she had him. I swallowed hard. The feeling of being betrayed and rejected in one night, got into me. I had only one thing in mind. Revenge.
