Zaid had been trying to convince Fares all morning. "Come on, we need to do this," he insisted, his voice tense with urgency. "It's the only way to really help him." Fares shifted uncomfortably, avoiding eye contact. "I don't know, man. This feels like we're crossing a line." "There is no line when someone's getting scammed," Zaid countered. "You're his friends. We have to do something." After a long pause, Fares finally sighed. "Fine," he relented. "But if this goes wrong, I'm blaming you." "Deal. Now let's move before we lose him." when classes ended, they hurried to Fares' car. The leather seats creaked as they climbed in, and Fares fumbled with the keys for a moment before starting the engine. "Did you see where he went?" Fares asked as they pulled out of the school parking lot.
