Part 05

The following day the bus arrives at the school where the parents await them. The bus stops and the surviving students rush to their parents. Peter gets down from the bus and sees Jacody who rushes to him and hugs him. "Are you okay? Please tell me you're okay?" asked the worried father. "I'm fine Jake, I'm fine but, wish I could say the same for others." replied Peter who breaks the hug.

"I got teams sweeping the woods for survivors, what happened?" asked Jacody. "It's, well, um, we gathered at the camp and suddenly wolves, huge one who looked very purple appeared out of nowhere." said Peter. "Wolves? In Wakefield Falls?" asked Jacody. "Believe me, I'm surprised as you are." said Peter.

"Peter, I know you been through a lot now but..." said Jacody before getting interrupted by Peter. "It's alright Jake, I'll give a statement." said Peter. Jacody pats on his shoulder then leads him to his car. Eve too sees her parents and rushes to them just like all other kids, they hug her tightly.

"Sweetie, are you okay?" asked Eve's mother. "Yeah, I'm fine." said Eve who then looks at Peter just as he gets on the car. Jacody gets in the driver's seat and starts the engine. Peter then gets one look at the Amaranthine in his hand.

The next day, suddenly his phone rings which wakes Peter up and just he is about to answer, it turns off, after a yawn, he takes the phone to see time only to see it's almost 2PM. He also notices he has received the 6 message and a missed call from Jim, 4 messages from Griffin and another 2 texts from separate numbers. He gets up from bed and heads straight to bathroom. After several minutes, he gets ready and heads to kitchen where Jacody has left him a note. He grabs it and reads it. "Didn't wanna wake you up, food's in the fridge, stay inside, that's an order." after reading it, he sighs.

Then he opens the fridge and takes the food to the table. Just as he prepares to eat, he receives another call. This time he answers it. "Peter, where the hell are you? Why aren't you answering?" asked Jim. "Took a long nap and you only called one time by the way." replied Peter. "Right, so um, do you have it?" asked Jim. "Right here." said Peter as he takes the Amaranthine from his pocket. "Great, okay, meet me at our usual spot, I'll call the others." said Jim. "Why?" asked Peter.

"Why? Didn't you see the news?" asked Jim. "What news?" asked Peter. "There were 7 casualties, 4 are dead while 3 are recovering, the police are on double duty searching for survivors." said Jim. "Explains why Jake left, usual spot is too open, we need somewhere secure, you know what? Let's meet up at my place, call the others, we're gonna figure this out." said Peter.

"Alright then, meet you in an hour." said Jim as he hangs up. Peter then takes a look at his house which is in complete mess. "One hour huh? Better get to it." said Peter who rushes to arrange his house before welcoming his friends. Hours pass as the final guest, Ilayda approaches Peter's house and rings the doorbell.

The door opens and Ilayda is greeted by Peter. "Hey." said Ilayda who has also brought her backpack. "Hey, hop in." replied Peter who welcomes Ilayda into his house. Ilayda walks in and sees the rest of the crew are already there. She approaches them and sits next to Eve. Peter closes the door and approaches the crew, then he keeps the Amaranthine on the table.

"Okay then, let's start, what the hell is this?" asked Peter. "You're asking me? You guys found it first" said Jim.

"I didn't, he did." said Eve. "Guys just stop, arguing doesn't help, not to mention, if it wasn't for this thing, we would have been dog food." said Griffin. "Not to mention that if we have that gem in our hands, it gives us abilities as long as we hold it." said Ilayda.

"Wolf food." said Jim. "Whatever, the point is that whatever those things were, they are connected to this gem." said Jim.

"Are you saying this happened because of us?" asked Eve. "Not likely." said Ilayda who opens her backpack and takes a few files out, she keeps it on the table beside the gem and opens each of them. All of the file contains newspaper articles from missing persons to wolf’s attack in Wakefield Falls. Peter looks at it and immediately recognizes one of the photos in the file. "Is that?" asked Peter.

"Kaitlyn Alexandra, one of the missing persons case victims, or whatever cases that ends up in Wakefield Falls." said Ilayda. "Where did you get this?" asked Griffin. "Pulled it from the old library." said Ilayda. "So, what does this have to do with what happened to us and that?" asked Griffin. "Don't blame me, I wouldn't have been there in a first place if little Sinbad hadn't snuck away." said Eve.

"I didn't sneak out, I just..." said Peter before getting interrupted by Jim. "Even if he did sneak out, why did you go after him? What's got you so worried?" asked Jim. "I didn't get worried! Thought he was up to no good so I followed him." said Eve. "Oh really, so you didn't fall for him, literally." said Jim. "For the last time, I slipped!" yells Eve.

"Shut up, all of you! Talking about the past isn't going to change things, we need to focus, starting with Peter, how did you find it?" asked Griffin. "I was fixing the tent, then I heard a whisper, a voice, it was kind of calling to me, I couldn't stop myself, I just went after it and then it was glowing and then… She happened." said Peter. "I asked you what was it? Nicely" replied Eve.

"Define nice." said Jim. "Jim shut it, Eve, you tried to pull the stone, why?" asked Griffin. "So, are we going to talk about the attacks?" asked Ilayda. "It can wait, Eve." said Griffin. "I don't know, I just... I wanted to see what it was, why are you asking me the questions? Ilayda's right, why are we even discussing this?" asked Eve.

"Woah, I didn't say that." said Ilayda. "She didn't." said Jim. "Okay fine, I said it alright? So, what if a purple gem we touched gave us powers? It could have been much worse." said Eve.

"Like what? A bunch of gIant wolves chasing after us? Because that is what exactly happened." said Jim. "Why are you all pointing fingers at me when the person who is actually responsible is right here." said Eve. "Hey! What the hell did I do?" asked Peter. "Really? You have to ask?" asked Eve. "No one is pointing fingers." said Griffin. "So, it is my fault now." said Eve.

"Yup, definitely, at least you admit it." said Jim. Ilayda watching everyone argue, stands up and grabs the Amaranthine from the table and uses it. "Okay I had it! Now everyone shut the heck up or i will scream to death!" Shouts Ilayda telepathically. Everyone else shut their ears with their hands and finally surrenders. Ilayda then drops the Amaranthine on the table.

"Geesh, didn't know you had a temper." said Griffin. "Everyone has their ins and outs, now back to point, let's start with what the heck is Wakefield Falls." said Ilayda who takes a newspaper sheet from one of the files. "Here, in 1998, a group of hunters who went missing after hearing to Wakefield Falls, the mysterious woods that has taken hundreds of lives." said Ilayda.

"What the..." said Peter as Ilayda points out another opened file. "In 2003, wild life photographers who went without proper authorization were massacred, autopsy reports indicate gIant wolf bites were found in their bodies, Wakefield Falls, a lovely woods with a dark surprise has always terrorized the people who venture in it, but this time, the police had found evidence relating to the attacks in one of the wildlife photographer's camera." reads Ilayda.

"Evidence huh? Might still be in the police station." said Peter. "So what? You're not going to sneak in your dad's office, aren't you?" asked Eve. "Maybe, if I didn't have a best friend who can teleport." said Peter who tosses it to Jim. Jim grabs it and absorbs energy without focus, causing him to teleport randomly across the hall, suddenly he teleports and vanishes then comes back then teleports again and this time comes in front of Eve who pushes him.

The gem slips from his hands as he teleports and falls on the wall, hitting his head on the window ledge and going conscious. "Maybe not." said Peter. "Oh my God, is he okay?" asked Eve. Peter goes to check on him. "Maybe, no thanks to you." said Peter. "We need to get better at our abilities before using them." said Ilayda.

"So, let's get better." said Griffin who takes the gem. "How?" asked Eve. "Demonstrating, I think I know just the place." said Peter.
