THIRTY-SIX George rolled the barrel of lime to the mouth of the cave. This time, they'd smothered the sheepskin in mutton fat to disguise the smell. He prayed it would work as he jogged back to Melitta's treetop perch. Once again, the dragon emerged and devoured the barrel disguised as a sheep before heading back into its cave. They didn't have to wait long before the beast ambled out again, and headed for the river. George watched in satisfaction as it drank and drank. Surely when the water mixed with the lime, it would be enough. The dragon turned and made its way back toward its lair, more slowly this time as if the mixture in its belly was affecting it. Now George tasted victory. True victory. "Hey, dragon!" a voice roared. "Come and fight me!" A knight appeared, swaggering
