The New Wolf

Chapter Seven

When we got to the zoo, Tyler wanted to go right to the gorillas. This kid must love gorillas. They were the only thing he would talk about on the ride here. We tried to get him to go see the other animals two times, but he didn't budge.

"Let me call Max and Jeff. See if they can watch him for a little, then we can go see the other animals." I told Jason.

As I go to pull my phone out, Jason stops me. "I'll just link them." Then his eyes glass over.

Two minutes later, he's back to normal. "They are on their way, so they'll be here in ten minutes." I nodded and walked over to Tyler.

"Hey Ty. Um, Max and Jeff are coming to hang out with you while I show Jason around the zoo. Are you ok with that?" he turned around and smiled at me.

"It's about time. I know you two like each other. Ya, I'm ok." He glares at Jason and walks up to him. "Hurt my sissy, Imma hurt you!" Jason put his hands up in surrender. Then Tyler gave me a hug and went back to the gorillas. Not too long after that, Max and Jeff got here, so I took Jason to see the fish.

"So what was that back there?" I asked, looking at Jason's face. Confusion was written all over it. Smiling, I specify, "What was the whole 'I'll link them' thing? Why did your eyes glaze over like that?"

I have been wanting to learn a lot more about werewolf culture so that I can read them if I’m ever in need of knowing.

His mouth made an 'o' shape, then started to laugh. "It's called a pack link. It is where I can contact anyone from my pack. We talk in our heads." My face scrunched up in confusion this time.

He groaned and looked at the fish. Um, ok? "I can communicate with my pack members through the pack mind link. Does it make sense?" I nodded not only because I got it, but he was talking to me like I was three.

"So guess what, Tyler thinks about us." I started as we looked at the shark swimming with the fish. They all look so peaceful, and then BAM! The shark ate a few fish. 'Esh don't want to be any of those fish.' I thought to myself.

"Ya actually, I know. Wolf hearing, remember." Jason said with a chuckle. My mouth made an 'o' shape. "See, he isn't wrong. I do care about you, but like I said.." and that was all he said before his eyes glazed over.

I got this feeling in my stomach. It's not a good one either. f**k I wish I was a damn wolf so I knew what was going on! "Jason what is it?" I asked when he was back.

All he did was grab my arm and pull me back to the gorillas. Then Jason started to give orders "I need u to stay with Tyler and Jeff. Max, come with me, the pack needs our help." Jeff and Max both nodded.

"What is going on?" Tyler asked as he saw Jason and Max leave.

"Rogues." was all Jeff said before he pulled us to some other animal habitats.

"What are Rogues?" I whispered knowing he could hear me.

"Werewolves that left or got kicked out of their pack. They become completely animal and their wolf takes control." Jeff looked right into my eyes. "Kelly, you really don't want to meet one when you haven't turned yet. They will kill you."

With that I tried to get my mind off of what he said and the fact that Jason left by taking Ty and Jeff to see Cinderella.

"What was up with the stepsisters? I thought one was supposed to be nice. Well, decent at least." Jeff said as we walked out of the theater. I started to laugh at him.

Grabbing Tyler's hand we walk across the parking lot. "Jeff, that was only in the cartoon you big goof!" I laughed out. I knew he was thinking of the one were Cinderella's stepsister Anastasia was nice to her because Cinderella was helping her get a boyfriend.

"You watched the cartoons too?" He asked sarcastically. Man this guy is kinda cool, and a little hot. I learned some new things about Jeff.

He is the third in command and he hasn't found his mate yet. So maybe I only learned two things about him. But hey I'm getting there. I’m still new at this friend thing.

"Actually I did and there's nothing wrong with that. I watched them with Max when I was younger." I told him as we all got into the car.

"This one time when I was nine, Max took me to get ice cream. We biked three miles to get there. When we got there it was closed. I started to cry and Max said that he can go to the store and get a big tub of cookie dough ice cream after we get back home. He did and we watched movies and ate half the thing of cookie dough ice cream." I was beaming and started laughing with Jeff. Poor Tyler was sleeping in the back seat. He sure did have a long fun day.

I told Jeff some little things like birthday parties with Max. I remember when we had so much fun. We would play for hours and play pranks on our parents.

"This one time, Max put whipped cream on his mothers hand and tickled her mouth. You should have seen how hard we were all laughing." That was the day before he left. Before everything happened.

Only happy thoughts today. I thought to myself as Jeff pulled into the garage. "Tyler, wake up. We are home." I say gently. He groans then shakes his head.

"I got him. You go to the house and eat." Jeff said as he came around to get him. "Thanks." was all i said before I was then turned around and pushed toward the door.

Gosh werewolves are pushy. When I walked in everything was spotless but the kitchen. It looked like a damn hurricane went through it.

"Ya sorry about this. Umm Max and Alex kinda got into a fight. That turned into a full on make out session and then they went to their room." Jason said as he walked over to me.

"Ugh, that's nasty. And now what am I gonna eat?" Jason smiled at me then. "Do you want to go out with me? Not like a date but do you?" His face was a little red. Laughing I nodded.

We passed Jeff in the hallway as he laid Tyler down in the guest bedroom. "Hey, you want to come?" Jason asked with a light smile.

"Where y'all going?" I shrugged and so did Jason. Jeff scrunched his face up then answered "Nah! You two have fun. I'll get some people to clean up the kitchen while I watch Ty." then he pushed us out the door.

Smiling and laughing we got into his truck and left.

"No he didn't!" I laughed. Jason was telling me some stories about Max.

"I promise he did. Another thing he did was have nightmare after nightmare of leaving you. Then he would lose control and run all the way back just to see you." Jason sighed, took a drink then said "Kelly he would come back in a rage sometimes. He never told me what he saw but it wasn't what he wanted."

I knew exactly what he saw if he came back. It was dark and not what should happen to a kid. I could feel the tears that wanted to come out, so I changed the topic.

"So do you have any siblings?" At that, he gave me a grin. Ohhh that grin! "You know Alex, Max's mate?" I nodded "That is my sister. My baby sister. Now she is a beta’s mate." his eyes held a new emotion in them for his sister. He was proud of her.

"Come on, let's go. It's getting late and we need to get to bed. You will be training with me tomorrow." smirking, he paid then we left.

Today was a good day. Finally.
