Sarah had been watching tv later that day when she got a call from Leah, she was relieved.
" Hey! " Sarah responded, " I've been waiting for your call, Are you okay? "
" Relax Sarah, I'm fine. "
Sarah got an eerie feeling from Leah's voice, no, she got a familiar feeling from it. She could sense Leah's desperate attempt to keep her shaking voice calm.
" You sure? " Sarah asked again.
" Yeah, just wanted to check on you. "
" I'm not a baby, you don't have to check on me, " Sarah replied, " So, how are you doing? have you met your friend? "
Sarah heard Leah's suspicious sigh, " Leah? are you alone? "
" Yes... yes, I am. "
Sarah could tell something out of place was going on, but then again as she prepared to find out? Leah not telling her was probably for the best. " You're coming home soon, yeah? " Sarah wanted to get the call over with.
" Yeah, soon. "
" Okay, Goodnight? "
" Goodnight. "
Sarah hummed in the kitchen the next morning as she fixed her breakfast. She'd had a relaxing sleep which was weird because she never had slept so comfortably as she did the previous night. She had prepared one of her infamous dishes for breakfast and she was eager to have a taste of it. Settling herself at the dining table, she heard a calm knock on the door. Sarah took a short at the peephole and was surprised and perplexed at who she saw, it was a man. She was sure she hadn't met him before, with the way he looked there was no way she would forget him.
His hair was dark and shining, he tucked his hair neatly at the back of his ears. Sarah took a second peep to get a long view of him. His eyes were too little but fit properly in his well-sculptured face. His nose as sharp as a knife, his perfect cheekbone leading straight to his chin as it appreciated his long, slightly muscular neck, Sarah was captivated. He was dressed in a black tuxedo, Sarah knew it was expensive just by looking at it. His hands were tucked in his pockets as he waited for the door.
Sarah instantly snapped out from her delusions as she flung the door open, he was even more handsome in person.
" Can... can I help you? " Sarah struggled to say.
He was welcomed by a woman instead, he wasn't expecting to see anyone there but that wasn't the case. She was beautiful, he admitted. Just like he was, she was surprised to see him. He got carried away by her blonde hair at first, he was a sucker for blondes. Then was her absolutely beautiful face, her chubby cheeks dangling as she moved, he held back his laughter.
" Good day, " He replied.
He appeared surprised to see her, his voice mystic, deep and sexy. " Good day... "
" I'm Tyler Guvin, and you are? " He stretched his hands over to her.
Sarah's head did a 360-degree turn as she could vividly recognize the name Guvin. Could it be a mistake? why was he here all of a sudden?
" Hello? "
" Sarah... Sarah Rhodes, nice to meet you. " Sarah took his hands. She felt her hands melting into his muscular hands, she wondered what hugging him would feel like.
" Is this Leah's residence?
" Yes it is, who are you? " Sarah wanted to know.
" I have... " Tyler paused as he got distracted by the aroma he got from the house. Tyler sniffed, "Are that plantains? fried maybe? "
Sarah was stunned, " Yes, how could you tell? "
" My sense of smell is second to none. " Tyler stated.
Sarah arched a brow feeling threatened, " Really? what else can you smell? "
Tyler sniffed some more, venturing deeper into the house. Sarah was already carried away to stop or question him.
" You know food tends to expose its true, unfiltered taste when you fry them? "
No way Sarah was going to get schooled by a handsome, good-looking, sexy__
" So, " Tyler continued, " You mixed the plantains with honey before frying it perhaps? who am I kidding? you did. " Tyler replied with a devious smile.
Sarah flinched, " Yes I did, also with orange to reduce the sugar... " Just who was this man? she thought.
" That's impressive, wait... " Tyler replied moving over to the dining, " I knew I smelled something else, " Wow. "
Sarah smiled, basking in her awesomeness, " You like it? "
" I love it already, and this sauce? you caramelized the onions with what? " he sniffed again, " Milk? "
" No way! " Sarah retorted, he guessed right, "
" Can I have a taste? " He asked with puppy dog eyes.
Sarah couldn't say no to that face already, " Of course. "
Tyler immediately grabbed a fork, dipping the plantain inside the sauce and his mouth, " Hmm-mm, this is delicious! "
" Thank you, " Sarah sheepishly smiled.
" Now, this meal deserves to be on the main menu. "
" Who are you? " Sarah had to ask.
" I apologize, let me properly introduce myself. I'm Tyler Guvin, director of Gu family restaurant. "
Sarah staggered, her mouth open as she stared at him from head to toe once more.
" And I must say, I've fallen in love with your dish, are you a chef by any chance? "
" I uh... no, I mean yeah... " Sarah stuttered.
" You're amazing. " Tyler commended.
Sarah had to snap out of it, she was blushing like a teenager. " You said you were looking for Leah? I'm sorry she's not here. Oh! she said she needed to sort issues at... work. " Sarah paused as she realized how weird it was that Leah's boss was looking for her here, " Did something happen to her? "
Tyler's expressions changed, " please take a seat. "
Sarah slowly sat, " Did something happen to Leah? "
" I should have told you already, I'm sorry I got carried away by... " He glanced at the food, " Leah is dead. "
