Back then, suddenly one day she wasn’t there any more. Salvador waited all day to see her at school but she didn’t come back. He asked the teachers but they couldn’t tell him anything. He even cycled round to her house loads of times but there was never anyone there. His mom and dad had no idea either but the long and short of it was his first love had broken his heart. She’d gone awol and never come back, abandoned him. He was sad for a very long time. So where did she go and why couldn’t she say goodbye? And what’s with all that flickering and fading in and out?
He wanted to go say hello but he really wasn’t in any fit state and what would he say? Another time maybe. Her vanishing still hurt his teenage soul a little.
