WE HAD BEEN IN-SYSTEM at Van Maanen’s Star for 14 months now, and all was ready for our return to the Solar system. The gravity drives for all the ships had been tested, and all systems were up to snuff. Plasma drives, gravity generators, and spatial distortion generators were idling at low power, and slowly ramping up to operational levels.
Sheila and Nina were present on the bridge of Praxis, along with Fido, 174 and me. I was monitoring the final checks of the warpships before their launches. The Explorer class ships were due to launch in the next two minutes, including the Occam’s Razor, with Sam on board as Captain.
