"Spring break is almost over for our little town, folks, yep, it's a beautiful day here Woodson, Michigan will be cloudy for the day and for the rest of the week, but I'll be your sunshine, Sunshine, hahaha." The radio host announced. He was a bit too chirpy for 6 am.
I rolled over and almost destroyed the radio alarm to shut it up. I rubbed my eyes, dreading the day already. I got up and dragged myself to my bathroom to change. There wasn't much to do after settling into a new town, or in this case, old one. This wasn't our first time in Woodson. But there was something to look forward to, in a week Abby, Kenneth and I would be starting school, again. So for the first day of my "last" week of spring break, I decided to go hunting. I slipped on a shirt, jeans and my black combat boots with a sweater around my waist.
I dashed downstairs and took a seat next to Kenneth who was already watching TV. "Hey, little sis." He said as he ruffled my brown hair. Aww, great now I'll have to detangle this mess.
"Ken, I was born first." I pointed out. As he slung his arm over me.
"Well based on the fact that I'm 19 forever and you are a mere 18 forever. . . Well, Jane, the truth is in the numbers, I'm older."
Abby, who was reading a magazine on the chair, scoffed, "Well if you're putting it that way, sweetie, I'm 19, too, and I was born before all of you."
"Why are you arguing about this, again?" Vincent, our father, asked, he was amused despite his slightly annoyed tone. He put down his book, a smile creeping it's way up his face.
"Oh, Vince, let them bicker, it's adorable." Sara murmured.
"I'm going hunting, " I announced, "Anyone up?" I said as I made my way to the front door.
"Sorry, in doing back to school shopping. "Abby stated.
"I'm going too," Sara said.
"Constructing the game room with Dad," Kenneth said then added mentally, 'AND MORE THAN GLAD TO AVOID SHOPPING.'
A shiver went up my spine, but no one seemed to notice. The small piercing sound began as the thoughts of my family were open to me. I suppressed my abnormality and said, "Oh, ok, see you in a couple." I walked to the door before I went full-on vampire, safe to do so as we were miles away from the nearest town.
Humans, the life before our rebirth, then the beginning of forever, eternity. We look exactly like them, and other than to our strange eye color, super fast speed and immortality and etc, we are like them.
More or less...Probably less.
After a few hours of hunting and a few elk I began to jog back to our massive three-story house with game room basement, we weren't subtle.
When I stopped as I heard shrubs and leaves ruffle at a speed I wasn't sure was natural. I looked around and saw a shadow. When I realized it was not a shadow, it lunged and tackled me to the ground. It was a large black wolf that had attacked me, but it was much larger than the wolves I've hunted, the one who had me pinned to the ground was probably twice the size of a normal one. I looked straight into its eyes and used the distraction of his stare to kick him off me. I flipped myself up to my feet in one move and turned to see the wolf began to glow.
Yep, this isn't normal. Neither am I, but that's not important.
The moment the light died down I turned away to avoid seeing him nude.
"s**t, thanks a lot, steroids! Humans these days!" the boy said. I undid the knot on my sweatshirt and tossed it behind me.
"You decent?" I asked.
"Mmhm." He hummed. I turned and saw him sitting on a large rock using my sweatshirt over his intimates.
"No way." I gasped, maybe this town had something interesting to look forward to. I remember spending a decade looking for weres and lycans after the stories and tales began spreading through Europe, but we never found anything.
"Why aren't you running for the hill, human? You just saw a wolf turn into a boy, doesn't that ring a bell?"
"Who said anything about being human, well...not that you are one."
"Not human? Are you a wolf? " he asked with slight hope.
"No, better," I said and watch as a confused look falls on his face.
"Demon? Witch? " he guessed.
"Nope. Although, you're not far from it."
"His eyes widen when he came to the realization. "You're a vampire?" He concluded, stepping back a bit, "I thought they didn't exist. "
"Well, to be honest, we didn't believe werewolves existed either."
"We?" He asked pointedly.
"My family and I. "
"How does a vamp have a vamily? "
"A coven, but we are more like a family. "
"Can I ask you something? "
"I think you already did," I said, making him roll his eyes," but by all means, go ahead." This was a learning experience for both of us.
He hesitated but spoke, "You don't eat people, right?"
I snickered, clearly scaring him for a moment, "No, we don't eat people, although, we would be rather drinking than eating, "I stated, "my coven tends to stray from human casualties."
"Good, you scared me for a second."
"Believe me, I noticed Wolfboy," He smirked at his new nickname," so tell me, werewolf, how does it work? I've always wondered how a human could shift into a wolf."
"How can I trust you with this type of information? I mean, after all, we are supposed, natural enemies."
I narrowed my eyes at him, his relaxed posture and smug grin showing me he already trusted me, he just had an ego. I sighed and held my arms up, "You can trust me, Wolf. As a matter of fact, you already do, I've done nothing to harm you so there is clearly no particular threat. Plus, you've proven to be strong enough to knock me down and I've helped you out already."
He crosses his arms conventionally and sighed in defeat, "I am able to turn at will and don't age until I completely stop phasing. He told me, "What about you?"
"Well, I can die if I am exposed to raw sunlight, but without that I'm immortal. There is truly not much to vampirism."
"So what is a vampire doing in Michigan? "
I retaliated, "What is it to you Wolfboy?"
"I live here with a pack. I'm sure they'll notice it sooner or later."
His hesitation sprouted curiosity, so I tried to read his mind, but I couldn't. I looked at him, he had a tan skin and a good body, his dark hair that was wavy and messy. His eyes were brown and had specks of gold that looked -'What are you doing Janeane? This man is a werewolf, who knows what they're capable of yet here you are standing in front of one while gawking at his features.' I scolded myself.
"Well, we aren't just going to leave."
"Well, see. Vampgirl. " He said. I smirked ironically.
I rose an eyebrow to challenge him. "So we shall. Bye, Wolfboy," I said and turned around. Suddenly, I was wrenched to his chest, face to face with him again. My hand fell on his chest and I looked straight into his eyes. They were filled with lust and he pressed his lips to mine, being immortal means I can't blush, but if I could, I would be scarlet. My hand trailed over his chest to the back of his neck and pull him slightly closer. He slipped his hands over my small waist and lifted me slightly, but then reality pulled me apart, "I barely know you, I don't even know your name." I gasped, frustrated with this man. I stepped back from his hold, regaining my head and being scolded by my subconscious with every right.
"Robin Montes. " He said, finally introducing himself.
"Well, Mr. Montes, don't ever do that again," I snapped and pushed him away," and my name is Jane Dale."
"Well, Jane, I'll see you around, " he said and disappeared into the forest as I did the same.
What the hell was that?!II
