Bringing the Storm

Sam I watched her walk away from me that night, already forming a plan to see her again. It would need to seem coincidental so that she doesn’t get suspicious. I left the party immediately and drove back to my small apartment to begin the tedious process of fire scrying and to find the information I would need. I had seen glimpses of a small diner, what seemed to have been her home, and many images of a paved walking path surrounded by nature. It took me a little longer to finally find enough identifying information and smiled to myself. My visions ended up being of recreational trails that ran through both our towns and it would be a perfect way to see her again without requiring any explanation from me.  When I suddenly felt the sparks across my skin, I knew she had found me just as I had hoped.  “Fancy meeting you here” I called to her. The rush of color to her cheek was instant, and I found myself smiling. She was happy to see me. I could feel it.  “Oh, um…” she trailed off like she was trying to find the right thing to say. “I walk here a lot…” she finally mumbled as she reached me and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She was feeling awkward. “Would you want some company?” I asked, hoping she would agree. The warm smile that lit up her face made my heart flutter.  “Absolutely!” she chirped and then blushed again. “I mean, sure.” she started down the path and I eagerly followed.  “So…where are we going?” I asked.  “Um, well, I figured I would show you one of my favorite walks since you said you’re new to the area.” she smiled brightly as she spoke and her excitement was clear.  We walked in silence for a while and I couldn’t help peeking over at her. She was dressed rather plainly today in a pair of blue skinny jeans and a plain black shirt. The way the jeans hugged her curves really showed off her perky round ass and I couldn’t help admiring it.  “We’re almost there” her words pulled me out of my thoughts and I swallowed hard, trying to clear my thoughts from my head. My growing attraction to her needed to stay under control. I couldn’t risk messing up my assignment.  “I’m excited!” her eyes lit up at my words. “I haven’t really had too much of a chance to explore this area yet”, I smiled.  “Oh good! While we were walking, I realized that this area is technically in Bloomington, and I really hoped I wouldn’t be showing you somewhere that you’ve already been.”  “Is that where we’re heading?” I asked as I pointed at the opening coming up at the side of the trail and what looked like a structure that was just visible through the trees ahead of us.  “Yep! This area is called Atwood Wayside. It's technically a trailhead, and I either start or stop my walks there. They also have a wonderful little herb garden area!” she suddenly took my hand and pulled me onto the narrower path at the side of the trail.  “You must really love plants” I observed.  ‘I guess you could say that” she giggled. “I’ve just always loved how nature makes me feel.”  “You must get that from one of your parents,” if she agreed, that would tell me she was likely a half-blood. The moment I said it, however, I saw sadness cloud her eyes a bit. “Sadly, I wouldn’t know. I was adopted as a baby…” as she spoke I noticed the bright blue of her eyes shifting to a cloudy silver shade.  “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you.”  “It's okay, it doesn’t bother me often. I just always wonder what they would have been like, you know?” She paused and took a deep breath before starting to walk along the path. “Do I look like them? Whose eyes do I have? Is this snow-white-like hair and skin combination from one of them or both? Those things,” as she spoke, I felt the air change and the wind pick up.  “Well, whoever you get your looks from, I think you came out pretty cute-” my words were cut off by a loud crack of thunder and I looked up to see dark gray clouds rushing in faster than normal. f**k, she must be at least part Acalica.  “I think it's about to rain,” she said, suddenly aware of the sudden change of weather.  “I ‘ve seen this park from the street before, I think we’re about a block or so from my apartment,” I said as I took her hand and headed towards the parking lot and the road. I just really hope we make it before this rain starts coming down.
