It’s been almost 5 months since I last met one of my “mystery writer” friends in New York. The world and the city have changed a lot since then. I myself was one of those who caught COVID-19 and altho-ugh my case was a mild one, going through it was a really unpleasant experience.
Thankfully, I recovered in late March and, amid all the COVID craziness, managed to work with my team virtually and finalize our new issue... and boy, what an issue it is!
Reed Farrel Coleman, who I consider a great friend and supporter of the magazine, has written a wonderful story for us that will really get you hooked. It’s the beginning to a series of short stories featuring a PI during the apocalypse. I personally found this first installment pretty fascinating.
Fans of Max Allan Collins should definitely check out his conversation with Nick Kolakowski on Mike Hammer’s Unkillable Appeal. They talk about many different topics including his new novel Masquerade for Murder, in which Hammer investigates a hit-and-run and a linked set of murders.
If you don’t know D.C. Benny, you should. He’s one of the most talented stand-up comedians I’ve seen and you should check his work on YouTube or Comedy Central. We are fortunate enough to publish his first noir short fiction which is a really authentic piece.
You can find a lot more #goodmystery in this issue. We are very proud of this latest edition and we hope you enjoy it too. If you do, please spread the word so that we can become an even larger family.
