The Mysterious Secret

712 Words
Three weeks passed after the attack, but Amanda could not forget what had happened. She continued working as Mr. Khan's personal assistant, yet the questions in her heart only grew stronger. Every time she looked at him, she wondered how he had arrived so quickly that night and how he had defeated the assassins with such incredible strength. One Monday morning, Amanda arrived at the office as usual. She prepared Mr. Khan's favorite cup of tea and organized the day's schedule. However, hours passed, and the CEO had not arrived. Feeling worried, Amanda walked over to Judah, Mr. Khan's trusted secretary. "Good morning, Judah," she greeted politely. "Good morning, Miss Amanda." "I've noticed Mr. Khan hasn't come to the office today. Is everything alright?" Judah nodded. "Mr. Khan isn't feeling well today. He decided to stay home and rest." Amanda became concerned. "May I have his address? I'd like to visit him and make sure he's alright." Judah smiled. "Of course." He wrote down the address and handed it to her. Amanda thanked him and looked at the paper. To her surprise, the address looked strangely familiar. "It can't be..." she whispered. The address was on the same street where she lived. Confused, Amanda left the office and made her way there. A few minutes later, she stood in front of a beautiful mansion. "This is Mr. Khan's house?" she murmured in disbelief. She walked to the front door and knocked gently. There was no response. She knocked again. Still, no one answered. After knocking several more times, Amanda noticed that the front door had not been locked completely. "Sir?" she called. Receiving no reply, she slowly pushed the door open. "Mr. Khan?" The house was silent. Amanda stepped inside and followed the sound of running water until she reached the bathroom. The bathroom door was slightly open. Thinking Mr. Khan might have collapsed, Amanda carefully pushed the door wider. The sight before her left her speechless. Mr. Khan was relaxing in a bathtub with his eyes closed, unaware of her presence. Beside the bathtub lay a giant black snake. Amanda's heart nearly stopped. She quickly covered her eyes. "I'm so sorry, sir!" she cried. "I didn't mean to come in!" Startled by her voice, Mr. Khan tried to stand up, but his face suddenly turned pale. He staggered forward before collapsing. "Sir!" Amanda immediately rushed to his side and caught him before he hit the floor. His body felt unusually cold, and he was burning with fever. Without thinking, Amanda helped him to the bedroom and gently laid him on the bed. As she tried to pull away, Mr. Khan suddenly grabbed her wrist. His breathing became heavy, and his eyes looked strangely different. Before Amanda could react, he leaned closer and bit her gently on the shoulder. Amanda gasped in shock. A few drops of her blood touched his lips. Within moments, the color returned to Mr. Khan's face. His fever disappeared, and his strength returned as though nothing had happened. Amanda stared at him in disbelief. Realizing what had happened, Mr. Khan quickly released her. "I'm... sorry," he said softly. "I wasn't thinking clearly." Amanda stepped back nervously. "What just happened?" Mr. Khan forced a smile. "You have nothing to worry about. The snake you saw belongs to me. It's only my pet." Amanda looked toward the bathroom. Although she wanted to believe him, something about his explanation didn't feel right. Mr. Khan noticed the small mark on her shoulder. "I'm truly sorry for hurting you." Amanda took a deep breath. "I only came because I heard you were sick." "Thank you for your concern," he replied sincerely. Seeing that he was now feeling much better, Amanda picked up her bag. "I should go." Mr. Khan nodded. "Thank you for coming." Amanda quietly left the mansion. As she walked home, countless questions filled her mind. Why had Mr. Khan recovered the moment her blood touched him? Why did he keep such a huge snake inside his house? And why did she feel that the snake's eyes looked strangely familiar? Amanda had no answers. But deep in her heart, she knew one thing for certain. Mr. Khan was hiding a secret, and sooner or later, the truth would reveal itself.
