Chapter 2

" so we all have the same mark?" Noah said as they all stood in an empty classroom at school.

" How did we get it?" Tyler asked

" I think the main question is why is all of ours the same and Ruby's different?" Skylar asked.

Ruby sighed and sat on the teachers table.

" We have no answers to these questions no matter how many times we ask. What we can do is find a way to get rid of it."

" Or we could keep it" Noah said and everyone looked at him, " to find out what it means of course, no other reason." he immediately added. The bell rang.

"You know what? let's just get through today and then after school we'll find out what it means and how to get rid of it." Ruby said putting more emphasis on ' how to get rid of it ' while looking at Noah.

" When did you get the time to draw that?" Ruby asked as she and Skylar walked down the hall to their lockers.

" During Mrs Schnapps class. I was bored and curious, mostly curious." she replied looking at the drawing of the mark she had drawn.

" And I thought you were jotting the whole time, I was beginning to feel unserious." Ruby said as she put in her locker code.

" I mean if we need to find out what it means we need have a pictorial version of it not only the one on our hands."

Ruby opened her locker and a paper fell out.

" Okay we don't need the distraction of a secret admirer now, plus you have a boyfriend. Everyone knows that." Skylar said

" Uhhhhhh, who has a secret admirer?" Nessa asked on getting to both of them.

" It's not a secret admirer, it's an address." She said. " House 32 Bale street." She and Nessa said in unison.

" I got the same thing too, that's why I came here." She said showing them the paper.

Skylar quickly turned to her locker and opened it, a paper dropped too. She picked it and opened it.

" Same thing too" She sighed

" So we have matching tattoos, except Ruby, now matching addresses. Wow how strong our bond is." Noah said sarcastically as they sat down at lunch.

" The answer to all your questions." Tyler read from the paper.

" And the only question we have now is about this mark." Nessa added.

" Bale street is a lonely street. There are practically three houses there and two are empty." Ruby said

" So you suggest we don't go?" Skylar asked

" I mean do we have a choice?" Nessa replied her.

" We could still look it up online." Ruby suggested.

" I spent my whole free period doing just that, nothing came up." Tyler said

" We have no choice, at least, we can put 911 on speed dial in case everything goes sideways."

" So we're putting our hopes on an address that we have no idea where it came from?. Great" Ruby sighed.

" Noah said he'll meet us there." Tyler said to Ruby and Skylar as he drove. " We checked the address and it's a house that's not far away from the lake. The lakes right behind it.

" Let's just get to the bottom of this" Skylar said.

They reached the house but parked a few feet away from it.

" You guys didn't go in?" Ruby asked Noah and Nessa as she got out of the car.

" oh no honey, if we die, we die together." Nessa replied her.

They began to walk towards the house.

" It's very quiet." Skylar said

They got to the door and Tyler knocked once, twice, three times but no reply

"Are you sure someone's home?" he asked. They all shrugged and kept looking.

" He turned the door knob and the door opened." Hello" he called out then stepped in.

" Okay am putting 911 on speed dail" Nessa said taking out her phone.

They entered the house, following Tyler closely as they walked towards the living room.

" Hello, anyone home?" Tyler called out again. " Am not sure anyone's here" he said

" Oh hi" a manly voice said behind them causing them to leap in fear.

" Sorry I startled you" He said his British accent coming out fully.

He was an English man and was at least 5ft. He used a walking stick and looked like he was in his late thirties.

He was carrying thin pieces of wood in his left hand and walked with his stick with the other hand. He threw the wood pieces in the fire place.

" Pardon me, it starts to get cold here by evening." he said lighting the fire.

" Tea anyone?" he asked walking to the kitchen.

They followed him.

" uhmm.... we got a note with this address on it .It said it was the answer to our questions? We were wondering if you knew anything about it." Ruby asked as he scrambled round his kitchen to make tea.

" Ah yes, the notes. I did put them there. Anyone wants tea?" he waited for a reply but got none.

" Okay tea for just me then" he poured the tea into his cup and carried his cup and walked back to the living room. They followed him. back. Nessa rolled her eyes.

He said on the sofa." please sit" he gestured to the sofa in front of him.

They looked unsure as they sat down. They watched him sip his tea.

" Okay, what does this mean" Noah asked pulling up his sleeves revealing the mark.

" Noah!!?" they called

" What!? It was going to come out anyway besides we can't just sit here and watch him sip his tea. We don't even know how safe we are here."

The man sighed " He's right, am so sorry for keeping you guys" he stood up and walked to the kitchen.

Nessa groaned" I swear if he keeps taking is back and forth...." they followed him again.

He stood behind the kitchen island.

" I'm Dr Aiden but you can call me Dr A for short. The marks on your hands" he pointed" they are called guardian marks."

" Guardian marks? " Skylar asked

" Yes. I hope you guys believe in supernatural." he pulled a high chair and sat down.

" Springfield wasn't always the same peaceful town as it is now. It was a bacon for supernatural. This place carried a power that is very strong. It was good at first, having supernaturals, but then it started getting worse with the bad ones coming. Springfield became anything but peaceful. Deaths became a common thing. She became under the control of supernatural. They felt stronger in here." he kept quiet waiting for a reaction from them but got none.

" Then finally a witch came. She not an ordinary witch, very powerful. She fought the bad creatures and sent them out of the town. She put a barrier around the town. Even though she had put the barrier, she wanted to make sure they were safe so made the guardian mark."

" It was given to four people, along with the mark came powers so that they could protect the town for whatever was to come. Everything went smoothly for years. The witch left and was never to be seen again."
