You're the poor girl, right?

I was fuming, of course I wouldn't let my anger get the best of me though. I stood glaring at the two other girls that are Ariana and I's bunk mates. "And?" I said as calmly as I could. "So what if her parents aren't rich? You guys are just lucky you were born into wealth." I argued. The other two girls laughed. "So were you, but her? She was just unlucky to be born into a cardboard box.!" The girls laughed again. I glanced back at Ariana who was standing behind me looking defeated. "Whatever Madeline, if we're going to act like people with less money are insignificant then let's look at you shall we? My parents are billionaires while your parents are almost reaching their last few millions because of debt. Oh! And wasn't there a lawsuit too?" I smirked. Madeline and her white night Elise didn't like that. Good. "I hope you rot on the rat infested streets you peasant lover!!" Madeline yelled while stomping her black dress shoes and white socks out the door, her raven braids flying behind her. Elise stuck close by and decided to make a rude gesture with her hand while leaving the cabin. Ariana hugged me. "Thank you but you don't need to defend me, we can just ignore them they don't bother me." She said. "Nonsense, those spoiled kids with a sense of entitlement can kiss my buttocks." Ariana smiled at my comment, her old self shining through again. "You're right! The only thing they are entitled to is an ass whooping from yours truly." We went into a fit of giggles and eventually made our way to the main building. We went thought the large brown double doors and walked the marble floor past intricate statues and detailed gold engravings on the ceilings. The intimidating pillars guided us to the auditorium where we were yesterday for the orientation. No matter how many times I walk these halls I will always be in awe of the craftsmanship that went into this building. I can't imagine how long it took to paint the vast walls a calming sea green and shine every Carrara marble tile. We sat down in the very comfortable chairs surrounding the tables as deja vu washed over me. Henry walked on to stage just like yesterday but this time all the other counselors were there too. There was Derek who was very mellow. His shiny brown hair was parted off to the side, he is a handsome middle aged white man with a strong jaw and piercing black eyes. His attire usually consists of a polo and kahki pants held with a brown leather belt. He is pretty difficult to approach but he is very sweet once you start talking to him. There is Sophia a young girl, 21 I think. She's more of an airhead with dirty blonde hair and green eyes, a very pretty face and fair skin. She wears light colors and flowy blouses with short jeans and lacey flats. She's a bit crazy but in a good way, very sociable, artsy and is basically everyone's best friend and is known for being able to keep promises and secrets. Railey, Head Camp counselor. A 27 year old strict Latina that everyone listens to. If she tells you to do something, you do it. She doesn't have the best reputation but she would sacrifice her self to save a stranger. Though sometimes you forget that because of her demanding attitude. She usually has her black wavy hair in a low ponytail, she always has a casual but professional appearance and can speak novels with just a look, her red brown eyes make her even more intimidating. Then of course there's Henry, a happy, energetic 25 year old who is always in touch with his inner child. Sometimes I can't tell is he chooses to pretend that he doesn't realize girls flirting with him or if he's just that oblivious. He gets along with almost everyone except for the few that can't handle his energy and of course is know for(most popular with the girls) being 'hot'. He's the classic dream guy with blonde hair that sweeps over one of his eyes and piercing blue eyes. He dresses more casually since he deals a lot with sports and the great outdoors. I too agree he's cute but first off I'm a minor and secondly he's not even my type, he isn't that good looking for me to do anything remotely close to what some of these girls do to get his attention. I watch as Sophia's attempt at grabbing everyone's attention fails. Railey grabs a mic from Sophia and calmly speaks into it. "Attention." It was almost eerie how silence fell upon everyone and everyone's eyes were glued to her as she handed the Mic back to Sophia. "Hi Everyone! I'm Sophia, today is going to be a calm day. We have a few activities set up outside today!" She cheerfully informed us. Ariana nudged me. "I like her already." Sophia continued. "We have Badminton with Henry, Whittling with me, Horse back riding with Railey, and golf with Derek." Everyone murmured amongst themselves already deciding where to go. Ariana started shaking me "Fancy rich people sport with Henry? Count me In!" She giggled. "No! I cannot have you turned into those crazy girls who practically follow Henry every where." "Following him? Sounds good to me " "Ariana!" "We could break into his cabin." "OMG! NO!" "But-" Sophia continued, "First, we will organize you into groups depending on your cabin numbers. Then we will go outside and rotate activities." Ariana pouted. I smiled. "Cabins 1 through 4 are the Porcupines with Derek! Cabins 5 through 8 are Bears with Henry! Cabins 9 through 12 are Hummingbirds with me! And Cabins 13 through 16 are Cardinals with Railey!" Sophia finished. "Okay everyone meet with your camp counselor and they will take you to your station!" She gave a Camp salute and hopped off stage. "Oh no." I sighed. "What? What cabin are we in?" Ariana said her voiced clearly laced with worry. I answered. "....Cabin 15." We both gazed at the Angry looking Latina waiting for everyone to gather around. θθθ "Who's riding first!?" Railey yelled. Ariana looked at me in fear. "Gurl! I've never ridden a horse before." I looked at her. "Ever? At all? Not even in those county fair things?" "No!!! I've only ridden a rocking horse when I was 5." "Good enough." I said. "GO-good enough? Are you crazy? I'm gonna die!" "Well if you think like that then you will." I answered. "I'm sorry Ariana, I've helped you pick your horse, helped with the saddle and helped you on your horse. I can't ride with you. Plus I'm up next, byyee." "WAIT." I could here Ariana's desperate voice call for me but I had to go. I feel bad but, what can I do.
