Chapter 13

2310 Words

Adam couldn’t stay at the beach house, not after what he’d confessed. “You’re so delusional,” he muttered to himself as he drove down the highway. No way he could go back there and exist in the same space as Janey and keep the relationship a secret. Not after spilling one of his biggest secrets. “Call Tony,” he said, and his car dialed his brother. “Hey,” Tony said, his labored breathing coming through the line too. “I’m hiking with Alfie. I might lose you.” “Okay,” Adam said, hearing the misery in his voice. “Is the weekend that bad?” Tony asked. “It just started, didn’t it?” “Yeah.” Adam sighed. “Listen, I have to tell you something, and you have to promise not to laugh or judge me or tell Drew.” Drew was going to find out—everyone would—and Adam didn’t want Tony to feel left out.
