Zulu:     "Zulu alpha said you needed us," Jason said as I walked out of my room. Austin and Jose with him. They had been waiting.     "Yeah, we need to cross into Fire Rose territory and find the former alpha he's our next target," I answered coldly getting right to business.     "Former Alpha? Not the current one?" Austin asked.     "Nope. The alpha said former,"      "What's the plan?" Jose asked. He's a lot like me this way. Never question the Alpha's orders.     "Find out if he stays in the packhouse or if he has his own place now. I want to know what he does now. How he spends his free time. If he's guarded or not. We need to get him at night. No need to alarm his precious boy,"     "So, twenty-four-hour surveillance?" Jose chuckled.     "Slight problem," Jason said bringing up the blueprints of their packhouse.     That hadn't been there before. There's a giant stone wall that went all around the house. Paranoid much Demario?      "One entrance," I said looking it over. The only way in is through the silver barred gate that leads to the front of the packhouse.     "We haven't done something like this yet?" Jose laughed.     "Always a first for everything," Austin added.     "Silver goes all the way around," Jason said.     "Find the blueprints to this wall and the gate. I want to know everything in it, on it, and under it,"     "The packhouse?" he asked.     "I don't need that I already know what the packhouse looks like," I said heading out.      Jason loves to do things when we're in a hurry. Not that we are right now. We have to find out what we need. They all followed me as I made my way towards the new Mc Laren R1     "I'll have them on your desk when you get back," Jason called back. The three of them heading in different directions.      I drove to my brother's place which isn't very far. He stayed near the packhouse just in case Ray needed something sniffed out or anyone went missing. All scents lead back to the house. It's a security strategy I had learned and passed on when I was out on my own.     "What up, Zulu?" my brother greeted from a window before I even walked up to ring the doorbell.      "Nothing much. I have to talk to you about something,"     Richard had once been a scrony, short, pain in my ass. Once he shifted, and after some intense training when he turned sixteen he magically became a six feet two inch muscled beast. He was kind of scary now. Grew out his beard, trims his hair down to a well-kept fade just the way Sandie likes it.     "Baby, I'm going out I'll be back in twenty," he shouted into the house.     "Be careful, lover," Sandie shouted back. I laughed making him glare at me.     "Shut up, Zulu," he growled.     "I didn't say a word, Lover Boy," I said unlocking my car. He looked down at my car and sighed.     "Let's walk, Zulu. I'm not gonna fit in your new toy," I smirked at him.     "You suck. Why are you such a big ass monster?"     "You're five eight. You're big too,"     "I fit just fine in my car," I argued.     "You said it. Your car. It's bad though. Working in the hospital is working out for you since you don't pay bills and still live in the packhouse isn't it," he mocked. He didn't understand why I got a day job.     "Ray needs me there. I'm not mated so why would I leave," I laughed.     "So, what's up?" he asked.     "I have a new assignment. I want you to know that Ray knows," he stopped walking.     "Ray knows what, Zuluna?" he growled grabbing my arm.     "About dad and why we were kicked out. He swore he wouldn't say a word, or treat you differently," he spun me around to face him.     "What's the assignment?"      "He wants me to kill him,"      "He asked you to hunt him after finding out he's our father?" He asked.     "Yeah, and I accepted in a heartbeat. Demarco deserves this for what he did to you. He's also convinced Varco to make this pack a target. With Demarco gone and exposed Varco will drop this. I really don't want him to come here so we can kill him,"      "Zulu, I don't know about this one. It's personal,"     "Richie this is our pack it's always personal,"     "This is you, personal. Not them, personal. This is different. If you want this then do it. I've never stopped you before. Just make sure to get back before Jamie is born," he hugged me and placed a kiss on the top of my head.     "I thought you should know. Of course, I'll be back for Jamie's arrival,"     "You better not get yourself killed Zulu I'll be f*****g pissed," I laughed. "I really hope this brings you some peace of mind,"         "Well, I have to go. I'm getting in the blueprints and schedules. I'll link you before we leave," We walked back to his place. I let him walk into his house before getting in my car.     I didn't want to go in even after he insisted. I love Sandie and she's a great mate to my brother, but she reminds me of something I don't have. Something I've been waiting for since I was a little girl. I've always wanted a mate. To get mated and have pups and be something more than just killing the next ass hole who targets us.     ~You've got the next assignment huh?~ a voice rang in my head.      Jack. Jack and I have been dating for a little over two years now. He's a lawyer outside the pack walls. Inside, he's our alphas little brother. We're both twenty-five. His mate died when they were nineteen during a rogue attack.     ~Yes, I did actually. I'm headed back to the house right now for the prints.~     ~I'll race you there, babe.~     ~Where are you?~     ~I'm about two miles from the house~ I laughed.     ~Me too. Loser sleeps on the floor~     ~Na loser buys dinner~ I shifted gears.     ~You're on pretty boy~ I said speeding up.     I could feel he was going fast too. Through the link, I can feel his excitement. Jack may not be my mate. He is my first love though. Part of me knows that I shouldn't have accepted him into my life fully the way I did. I know when my mate shows up I'll break Jack's heart. I've asked him the what if and he said he'd let me go. That it's exactly that, a what if. I can't say I don't love him and he knows that I do, but a mate is bound and I'd leave him in a heartbeat assuming my mate accepts me and doesn't reject me for not waiting for him.     I passed Jack with a big smile as I made it to the front of the house first. We both jumped out of our cars and ran to touch the front door.     "I win," I laughed. He grabbed me around the waist and spun me around pushing me up against the door so that he could look up at me.     "You cut me off," he laughed. He was about to say something else when I pressed my lips to his cutting him off again.     "There were no rules," I said looking down at him.     He set me down on my feet leaning into me without breaking our kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck pulling him closer. I thought Jack was the sexiest guy I had ever met when I first saw him. I had just become part of the pack and Jack was the biggest ass hole you could ever meet. To every one. I may not be the eldest alpha born, but this prick wasn't going to talk to me in the way he did when we're both born in the rank. So, I did what any other wolf in my position would do. I challenged him. It was hard to beat him, but I had.     He spent the next year and a half asking me out and sending me presents. I made him work for it and he didn't seem to mind. I made him a friend first that way I knew what we were both getting ourselves into. He still has a lot of walls up from losing his mate and I figure that it's fine, because the day when I find my mate I know it's going to hurt us.     "How was work, beautiful?" he asked pulling away.     "It was good. One surgery and two check-ups. I'll do a follow up on him tomorrow before I go. How was your day?"     "s**t load of paperwork on that Ferguson case. Some new evidence came in and it's complicated everything so I sort of started over,"     The Ferguson case is Austin Ferguson. Manslaughter. The guy is fresh out of Pakistan war hero on a drug named M.E.S.S. It's an experimental drug created by vampires and sold worldwide to humans. It's known for blanking human memories. Ferguson was driving in his car saw a group of four Arabic guys. They all turned up dead. The guy was a well decorated Marine. Of course, no one knows it's the leeches behind the effects of the pills.     "Can I ask or should I not?" he smiled and pecked my lips again.     "I'll tell you when I make something of it,"     "That bad huh?" he nodded and opened the door for us.     "Jackie," the alpha greeted as soon as we walked in. He smiled at the two of us despite his displeasure of our relationship. "You two are home early,"     "I have blue prints waiting for me," I laughed.     "I have new s**t to deal with so we called it a night," Jack said pulling me closer to him when I pulled away. Luna Daniel laughed and rushed down the stairs just before jumping on the Alpha's back. He easily took the impact quickly getting a hold of her legs.     "We're going to Cohens wanna come?" she chirped. Cohens is a five-star restaurant at the edge of our territory.     "I'm down," Jack said.     "Let me check on Jase. See if he needs anything," I excused myself and ran up the stairs.     " I know I said when you get back but they have a great firewall. Give me two more hours?"      "Two hours that's it," I said pretending to be upset. He went back to work.     "What he say?" Jack asked coming up behind me.     "He's not ready. I gave him two hours,"     "Perfect," I grabbed my coat and we all went to Cohens for dinner.
