********** Red's POV ********** I bounced off the old trail and jumped on our main road a little bit until I got to ours. I started down ours, glancing back still hoping I didn't see anything. Nothing moved behind me. I figured had lost them for now. Not sure how I managed that but, I had. I seen Lia, she was sitting on Warrior just outside where our gate was. My vision was nothing but her, I forgot to look behind me one last time. She pulled her rifle as Warrior started to dance. I started to wonder why she did that until I looked behind me, to find the wolves. The whole group I had hoped, I had lost were were close enough their glowing amber eyes looked like they could find your soul. Looking ahead, I watched an earthy brown wolf land in front of Lia, putting herself between the wolves coming and her. What the hell had I done. I gripped the steering wheel readying to fight. I wasn't going to let her do this alone. ********* Lia's POV ********* Jay told me that Red was bringing up the rear. I sat at the gate with Warrior waiting for him to come down the road. Warrior told me, he heard the Scout coming and not long after he said that I heard it too. I glimpsed it shortly after that from my perch on Warrior. He was almost to me when the wolves slid out of the tree line along the road. I counted at least eight of them. I watched as Red noticed them too. Lada leaped in front of Warrior, just as Red drove past. Warrior was dancing under me, he was nervous but knew that we needed to get things done. "Lia, we may need to change." I heard Tala say while I am eyeing these massive shaded grey wolves. Lada started advancing toward them. She was low to the ground, ready to leap. From the opposite side of the road just between Lada and the incoming wolves a pack of dogs lead by a black one. The black dog turned its head toward me exposing bright blue eyes. Catching sight of the approaching wolves.. Sliding in next to Lada on the left and the others in its pack flanking both sides of Lada and the black dog. They formed a line between us and them. Warrior turned his head, thinking it might be a wolf, it was Red coming fast with his rifle ready. I smile at him and then turn my attention to the odd battle in front of us. They all did a sudden stop. I figured they are talking, though from this distance I cannot hear them. Suddenly, the black dog and its pack took off toward the way they came. The large group of wolves, took off behind them. Lada made her way to me. Warrior still dancing, his trust in her not there. "Lada, what happened?" I asked her out loud. "Those were southern wolves. They were called by the One who Remembers." Lada sat some distance between us. "What are southern wolves doing here?" I was surprised to hear Red ask. "One who Remembers called them." Lada looked at Red. "I suspect she wants reinforcements around should things escalate before Lia can have time to learn her change and that of battle." "Battle? I thought that was mine area." I heard Red say. "It is, but there will be time when she will need to." Lada looked at me and back to him. I watched the thought process in Red's head going trying to figure out how he would be everywhere at once. I smiled knowing his worry had not gone unnoticed. "Red, there is likely some places I cannot take you." Looking to Lada I asked, "Why were they coming here and not to where she is?" "They got confused by scents. The scent from the Scout pulled them this way." Lada looked at Red, "remember to clean out the back where that kid died. Strong magic smell is lingering there." "I have no idea how to get that out." Red shrugged. "Soap and water with the intention of getting rid of it." Lada said. She stood then, "I need to get going myself." Looking the way the wolves went, she added, "You will likely have these wolves around as well. So keep an eye out." With that she took off the way they went. I looked at Red, stepping down off Warrior and headed straight into Red's arms. Our lips slammed into each other hungry for touch. ************ Greetings Readers! It was brought to my attention that this story needs some editing, the updates maybe a little slower, as I go back in chapters to adjust this. I will also be editing the new posting better as well! Let me know what you think in the comments! I always love feedback from my readers. :) Much Thanks and Hugs! M. Merrill *************
