Chapter 2

Sarah held on the mail as she rushed into Emma’s office. It has been a few months after the gala and ever since then, it has been a turn of events. The company was in debts and there were no much clients. Emma felt choked as the weeks went by. She had no contacts with Xander after that night, even if she thought about him a few times, she waved every thoughts of him that came her way. She found it weird sometimes, how she would have such a perfect night with a total stranger. Sometimes she felt angry, and used but never regretted all that had happened. One time, she caught herself biting her lower lips and still felt the thrills in between her legs when she remembered how he had gone in between them. As the days went by, the thoughts gradually began to fade until it became too blur that she could not remember exactly what his smile looked like. “Emma!” Sarah called out, it looked like she had been calling out to her for a while. “Hey girl.” “Are you okay?” “Yeah, I'm fine.” She lied. “I find that very hard to believe.” “Why?” Emma asked. “You have that look, and your face spells nothing but worry.” “Well, I can't help but get worried. The company is crashing, I wake up everyday with the mind-set that the company I built from the scratch will be no more soon and there is nothing I can do to stop that from happening.” "Hey... Hey, calm down,” Sarah moved over to her and tapped her on her shoulders, “ Everything will be fine.” "It's easy for you to say.” "Hey, don't be like that. You know we are in this together, by the way, this came in this morning. It is for you.” She handed over the parcel to Emma, “ What's in it?” Emma asked as she grabbed on to it. “Check it out.” Emma took out the letter from within and moved her eyes with the words as she read the letter. “Wow!” She exclaimed and Sarah was surprised by the switch in her mood. The letter was definitely something optimistic. “What's in it?” Sarah was curious to know. “We just received an offer to organize a highly profile wedding for a client.” "Wow, this is huge.” “Yeah, it is. This is exactly what we need to save this company. If we pull this through perfectly, it could change everything for us, for the company.” "I'm overjoyed.” Sarah leaned close and hugged Emma, as they shared the joy from the news they had gotten. “What is the name of the client we would be working with?” Sarah asked, Emma looked through the letter again and then back at her. "It wasn't stated here.” "What do you mean? How can a letter come without a name or something?” “I don't know, it was stamped though and the markings of the stamp is not familiar maybe the client is not from around here, check it out for yourself.” She handed the letter to Sarah who also checked it through. ••• Xander was lost in thought as he fixed his eyes on the landscape view as he looked out through the window. He did not notice when Collins walked into his office and only turned when he tapped him on his shoulders. “Collins, you did not knock.” “Well, I did knock a couple of times but I did not get any response from you.” "I'm sorry man, have a seat.” Collins settled in and Xander offered his a drink. “What's up with you man, you have been quite distance for a while now.” "You know what the problem is.” "Yeah, I know but I never really thought that, that would be a problem for you.” "And why will you even say that?” "You've got the girls man, I see them flocking around you. You can just settle with one.” “No, this is marriage we are talking about, I cannot marry someone I do not have any form of emotions for. I thought you knew me man.” "Yeah, I know you, but I’m just trying to make this easy for you.” “I cannot lose this company, and my family is not making it any easy for me, I feel so choked right now man.” "I have a couple of ladies that I would want you to meet maybe you can get attached to one of them.” "In a few week, I would be losing this company to the board, how do you expect me to get attached to someone in such short time?” “But you did it, you told me you did a couple of months ago.” “Yes, being with her was magical and I still can't wrap my head around how I got so attached to her. I was overwhelmed by her presence that it took away my senses and I forgot to take her contact. Was that love that I felt?” "I don’t know man, but if she made you feel that way in just one meeting, then she must be just as you said. I wish I could help you get her but right now, you know we do not have that time.” "Who is this girl you both speak off?” Lady Harrington interrupted as she walked into the office. The men turned the same time. “Mom? How long have you been standing there?” “Long enough to know that there is a lady who has stolen your heart and I wonder why you have not made her your wife yet.” "Mother, it's not like that.” "Then how is it?” Xander turned and faced the window again. “What's her name?” “Emma.” “Is that all you can remember about her?” "I know it was her company that organized the charity gala that held that evening.” "Leave the rest to me.” Lady Harrington said and she made to walk out of the office. “What would you do mom?” "Don't worry about it, just prepare for your weeding.” She said and walked out. “Oh God!” Xander slammed his hand on his face, “ I hate when she talks to me like I'm a kid.” Emma had received a text that of a meeting with the anonymous client, as much as she was excited about getting to meet a client that could make her a rich lady, she was also sceptical about the whole thing, if it would be a prank meeting or something below her expectation but she could not have imagined that the meeting would change her life forever.
