I let the portal from Daoine close behind me. I stood in the small clearing by the old tree at the center of the small woods near what I considered to be my true home. I took a deep breath and smelled the rich loam of the forest floor as I leaned on my staff. It was twilight, but I couldn’t be sure if it was morning or evening. It felt more like evening. It had been roughly two years since I’d been here. Two years of wishing I was here. Two years of missing my family. Two years of struggle and hardship. And loss. Two years for me, anyway. I had no idea how much time had passed here. Much less. Only days or weeks. The spell that had sped up time in Daoine was gone. I’d seen to that.
