With that, Cutler pushed every thought of Audrey out of his head. He took Maura's hand and drove them straight home. Maura was worried he might still be thinking about her, so the second they walked through the door, she started acting weak and clingy, asking him to stay with her. Cutler knew her injury was partly his fault, and the guilt sat heavy in his chest. He had no reason to refuse. So he sat right beside the bed, watching over her until she fell asleep.
