She’s trembling like a leaf in my arms. My strong, fierce Del, so fragile and broken in this moment. The madness in me demands I stormed out and hunted down each and every last one of the people who hurt her, who made her afraid, even when I know centuries separate us. I know she’s not telling me everything, grazing only the surface of what actually happened, but it doesn’t matter. I don’t need to know the rest.
Even when she lifts her gaze to me, her pale eyes so full of pain I once couldn’t understand, and slowly shakes her head, I am more than sure of my decision, my promise.
