'Roman's, Uncharted Deciet'

1083 Words
Roman opened his eye wide as Annabelle was in a deep slumber when Rose came flying in. "Rose, please don't shout let's go talk out in the living room please." Roman was begging for privacy, not for Anna but, for what he knew Rose was about to say. "Okay, Roman, but we are talking about this now let's go. I have to start lunch so, help me gather the fruits and vegitables." Roman moved Annabelle slowly he didn't want to disturb her peaceful recovery. As he left the room he whispered, ashamed at himself. "I'm so sorry Annabelle, I should have never allowed this to happen. Sleep blissfully. " Rise was glaring at him as he shut the door and, Roman knew he was in hot water for this small distraction. "Roman...... did you tell Ms.Annabelle, that you are betrothed?" Rose ? held an irritation towards her step son. "Better yet, did you tell her you are betrothed to Cassandra Mullins, the Daughter of the, Duke of Saregontas Romania!?". Extremely, heated because, she only wanted to help the poor girl and now she can see another tragedy for Annabelle. Looking Roman square in the eyes she said, "Have you prepared yourself to tell her? I don't know what happend in there with the both of you. However, I do know that whatever sparks you may have experienced between one another can never be. I don't want to seem cruel Roman, I just know we have to follow through with the marriage contract." As a matter of fact, Roman was not prepared to tell Anna anything about Cassandra. Roman never meant for this to happen, but it did and now he must confront this situation head on. "Rose, I didn't mean for anything to spark with Annabelle. Just seeing her bruises and her broken ribs- I had to do something to help her feel better instead of pain." "And yes, I know we can't sever the marriage contract and I never changed my mind about Cassandra...." Roman was cut off abruptly. "Roman, I'm not mad that you wanted to help the poor girl. But, now she is probably semi-emotionally invested in you. That is what im upset about. Anna went through alot probably more than she would ever speak about. I can see now there is one more tragedy about to be added to her 5 days homeless." Rose spoke with tremendous regret. "Homeless? Rose we can't just make her leave her injuries are far worse than I have ever seen. We can't just make her leave with that DWight Earl of Steinberg on the loose. More than likely, seeking to find her to silence her forever." Roman spoke with urgency in his voice- almost pleading Anna case. "Roman, my plan was to give the girl a home with us as her new family. Like, brother -sisters, not as in laws. As soon as I seen you too close and sleeping, that poor girl had confided you as her protector. I can not allow her to stay now- there will always be sadness everytime she seen you. I am going to tell Annabelle, this way she can stop the sparks before we all end up exiled and homeless in the slave house working off our debt." Roman wanted to detest her to his core, but he knew she was right. "Oh, I just messed everything up for her..... DAMN! DAMN! DAMN! How could I have been so ignorant, I should of had you come in with me. Okay Rose, I have to leave anyways im to meet the Duke and Cassandra I had forgotten its late in the morning at noon I must be at the horse shoe fields. Rose, please be gentle with her." "Roman, I'll be taking her to the infirmary after she eats lunch. I'll explain everything to her when she wakes up. I will be extremely delicate with her about this, You must go now you can't be late." Rose replied, with compassion surrounding her every word. Walking Roman to the door, Rose headed straight for the kitchen to make lunch for everyone. As soon as Roman had left Annabelle had felt the emptiness in the room. Instead of warmth, she was consumed by the cold. Anna had her sheet and blanket on but, her body wasn't in any condition to retain the warmth from her own body. In her sleep she was disturbed and she had awakened. Anna heard two voices speaking down the hall. Anna felt confident that Roman was her Valentine, so she got up a quick as she could. As soon as her shaky legs and unbalanced feet could get her to the door, she opened the door. Feeling more than a draft, she remembered she wasn't fully dressed and put the beautiful emerald dress back on before exiting the room. As she went to exit, she over heard Rose scolding Roman about his marriage contract to Cassandra the daughter of the Duke of Saregontas. 'I knew it........... I should have not ignored my instincts. Roman just wanted to help me feel something else besides pain. I respect that, I just wished I hadn't been so foolish to believe he had felt anything about me except sympathy. I'll let Rose tell me everything and then I will leave, go on my way towards the infirmary. With these wounds I wont stand a chance against anything out there. Not alone.... not without help. But if I can get to the infirmary I have at least 2 days to rest before running my way out of this town and area.' Annabelle heard Roman leave the house knowing he was going to his appointed meeting with his betrothed and her father. Anna started making her way slowly down the corridor towards the door. Anna had changed her mind she just wanted to get to the infirmary. Not knowing the whole story about Roman and Cassandra was probably best for her. Anna heard Rose in the kitchen making lunch, so she would be busy and would not hear her. Seeing nobody else around she didn't stop to thank anyone she didn't say goodbye. Annabelle, just limped her way the 10 ft to the front door. Opening the door quietly, sad that she might make a noise- she didn't want to explain or disturb anyone. Slowly she turned the door knob and opened the huge heavy wooden door she slowly limped her way out and slowly shut the door behind her.
