Chapter Ten – No More Silence

215 Words
The school compound buzzed with confusion. Parents whispered. Teachers looked nervous. The principal, Mr. Dada, came to the podium, fake smile stretched wide. But before he could speak, the hall doors burst open. The journalist, Ms. Fola, walked in with the police. “Stop the event,” she said calmly. “We have reason to believe a student’s death was covered up in this school.” Gasps filled the air. Korede stood at the back, heart pounding. Adaora stood beside him. She reached for his hand and held it. A large screen behind the podium flickered to life. Ms. Fola had already plugged in her own drive. A video started playing: Korede’s voice explaining the truth. Gbenga’s diary. The threats. The late-night meetings. The photo of Samuel handing the envelope to Miss Kemi. Silence fell. Then uproar. Samuel tried to run. Police officers tackled him. Miss Kemi cried, begging them to believe she didn’t know it would go that far. Even Mr. Dada stammered, “I was trying to protect the school’s reputation.” “But you let a boy die,” Ms. Fola said coldly. “And you almost let it happen again.” Outside, Korede exhaled. Adaora smiled—a real, strong smile. They had spoken. Fought. Survived. And this time, silence lost.
