The sun burned hot over the Forcados International College field. The crowd roared. It was the final match—Green House versus Yellow House. Korede stood at the sideline, breath heavy, heart racing. He could barely hear his coach shouting. All he saw was Gbenga, his best friend, racing down the pitch with the ball. Gbenga had always been a star. Fast. Sharp. Untouchable. Until he wasn’t. Korede’s smile vanished the moment Gbenga slowed. His steps faltered. He touched his chest, staggered, and dropped to his knees. Then—he collapsed. Screams broke out from the stands. The referee blew the whistle, long and loud. Students rushed forward. Teachers called for help. Korede ran. “Gbenga!” he shouted, dropping beside him. Gbenga’s eyes were open but blank. His lips moved slightly—then stopped. Someone pulled Korede back as the school nurse checked for a pulse. “Let them do their job,” a teacher said. But it was already too late. That evening, they announced Gbenga had died of a heart attack. Korede sat alone in the dorm, numb. His phone buzzed. A new message, no name. “They lied. He didn’t die naturally. Don’t trust anyone. And don’t talk.” Korede stared at the screen. What was happening?
