Chapter 6: Warm Feeling

A month has passed since Guillen and Chloe moved to the City to attend College. Guillen still hasn't shown any signs of King Vaidas' powers.

Chloe once again visited Zeal at the mansion to talk about their plans.

"My Queen still hasn't showed any signs."

"We need to wait for a little more." Zeal answered.

"And if she doesn't?"

"Your late master looked very sure when he talked about the prophecy. As a fellow royal blood, I trust in his words. But if he was wrong and that girl is not going to inherit the Great King Vaidas's powers, we move on our own."

"What about her?"

"As her protector and as the last royal blood of King Zulus. Our duty to protect her remains strong and the same"

"Understood."

One night, Guillen went to the grocery store to buy dinner for her and Chloe. She plans to cook for Chloe this time. She thought that Chloe always did things for her and so it was her way to show appreciation.

While walking down the grocery aisle. She saw Zeal buying vegetables and meat. She wanted to approach him, but she was too shy. Zeal noticed her and looked at her. Guillen was so shy that she froze.

Zeal smiled at her, then went back to picking vegetables.

Guillen felt warm when Zeal smiled at her. She finally built up the courage and approached Zeal.

"Um.. Hi." Guillen said.

"Hey.. you buying ingredients as well?" Zeal asked

"Uhh.. yeah."

"Where's your friend? Isn't she the one who cooks for the both of you?"

"Yeah.. how did you know?"

"I see her here often and I see you two are always together in school so I assumed that you two are roommates. Seeing her here so often buying ingredients I assumed she's the one who cooks."

"Wow you're really observant. We're not really roommates though, we share an apartment with two rooms, each for the both of us."

"Ah. I see."

" I'm actually planning on cooking for tonight as my way of appreciating her for all that she's doing for me. She's like my big sister, a little sarcastic sometimes but we really get along".

"Well that's very kind of you."

"So.. uh.. I still haven't thanked you for that time when you saved me from those jerks."

"There's no need to. A lady like yourself doesn't deserve that kind of treatment. Anyone would do it."

" You're the first one actually."

"Huh?"

"I've always been bullied when I was a kid because of how weird I was. No one ever really stood up for me except Chloe. When you saved me from those jerks, I felt safe."

Zeal suddenly felt warm. Guillen's innocent smile warmed his heart, which was hardened by countless battles. Since the passing of his family and friends hundreds of years, his heart has been numbed. For the first time in 500 years, He Felt appreciated.

"Are you in a rush? Guillen Asked.

"Uhmm.. would you maybe want to get a cup of coffee with me? I know a great place! Well of course after we finish buying ingredients. It's my delayed thanks for what you did for me."

"Sure."

The two walked around the groceries together. As Guillen was talking to Zeal about random stuff, she slowly felt comfortable around him. She kept talking and Zeal was silently listening to her stories.

After they bought all the ingredients they needed, they went to the small coffee shop where Guillen would always buy her coffee before going to school.

Guillen kept talking to Zeal and mentioned her late grandma.

"My late grandma was a really weird woman. But I loved her so much." Guillen said.

"Was she the one who influenced you to dress as a wizard?" Zeal asked.

"Sort of. Since she told me her "stories of old," I was so amazed especially when she told me about the grand witch that she said she met when she was just a kid."

"Grand Witch?"

Zeal got Curious because he knows that Chloe is the only grand witch that exists at this time.

"Yeah, she said a Grand witch saved her once. She said she was walking home from her friend's house when she saw this big black looking bat. But instead of a bat, it was woman she said. A woman who can split her body and turn into a manananggal.

Then when she was about to get attacked by it, a blinding light flashed, and after that she saw the mananaggal lying there, lifeless. She said she saw a Girl standing there looking down at the lifeless manananggal."

"Did the witch talk to her?" Zeal asked

"Yeah, she said the beautiful witch faced her and she saw her white skin and silky long black hair. She said the witch told her to be careful cause she still has a lot of years ahead of her. Then she said the witch vanished."

"Wow, that's an interesting story."

"Yeah, my grandma tells lots of stories that's why I became a weird one."

"Would you prefer to be normal? This world already has too much normal. It could use a little weird sometimes. To keep things interesting."

Guillen smiled at what Zeal said.

"Thankyou." Guillen said.

"For what?" Zeal asked

"For making me feel normal." Guillen answered.

On the other side of the road, Chloe was running in search of Guillen. She was worried because Guillen was taking so long to buy ingredients and thought the dark creatures had got her.

She looked to her right and saw Guillen smiling and laughing inside the coffee shop. She looked at who Guillen was talking too, and saw Zeal.

Chloe felt relieved. She was about to go and get Guillen, but she saw her having a good time with Zeal and Zeal, was smiling at Guillen while she was talking.

Chloe felt happy for Zeal and went back home.

The two finished their coffee and left the coffee shop. It was a cold night and Guillen was freezing. Suddenly a black jacket was put on Guillen's back. It was Zeal covering Guillen with his jacket.

"Aren't you cold?" Guillen asked

"The cold doesn't bother me." Zeal said

"Let me walk you home."

"No.. no.. it's fine."

"It's night time and you're new here. I'll walk you home." Zeal insisted

"Are you sure?"

Zeal then smiled and answered

"Yeah."

Zeal walked Guillen home to make sure that she'd get home safe. The two arrived at Guillen's apartment.

"So.. uh.. this is my place." Guillen said.

"Say hi to your friend for me." Zeal said

"Sure. Uhh.. take care on the way home ok? I had a great time.."

"Yeah me too."

Zeal went home and Guillen went inside their apartment and pressed the back of her head on the door as she closed it. She smiled because she never imagined that Zeal, a silent and fierce-looking guy, was such a kind gentleman.

As she stood there, Chloe was there looking at her.

"Wow, that's a big smile you got there. Was that Zeal from our class that I saw?" Chloe said then winked at Guillen.

"Oh my God! You scared me!" Guillen was surprised by Chloe.

"Hmmm... OH MY GOD WERE YOU TWO.. DATING?!!!!!" Chloe asked.

"No!!! I just came across him at the grocery and asked him to go to the coffee shop that I like as my thanks for what he did when, you know." Guillen said.

"Ohh.. Did you kiss?"

Chloe says as she tried to mock Guillen.

"Oh my God stop." Guillen chuckled.

" He just offered to walk me home."

"What a gentleman that grumpy guy."

"Yeah he's super kind too."

"I'm glad you made a new friend. Now, LET'S GET COOKING!!"

"SURE!!"

After the two finished eating dinner, Guillen quickly went to sleep. Chloe sneaked out and went to the mansion.

She opened the gates and went inside the mansion. She saw Zeal at the dining table eating dinner. The two had a conversation.

"So.. how was the date?" Chloe asked

"What date?" Zeal asked

"Oh come on now you don't need to be so shy I can see you blushing from over here." She answered.

"It was not a date. It was just a coincidence that we met at the store. What were you even doing letting her off alone like that?"

"You can stop treating her like a child, you know she's in college right? She needs to go out sometimes too cause I'll tell you, the apartment we got was as lame as your fashion sense."

"I felt something earlier that's why I got close to her in the store."

"Felt what?"

" You're getting distracted witch, remember that we have our duty."

"I never thought of you as a gentleman though."

"I am a royal blood. I know how to act in front of a lady."

"Yeah, sure, whatever. I'm just glad you got to go out and had the chance to talk someone. Might cure that grumpiness in you."

"I heard from her that a grand witch saved her grandma back when she was just a child. Is that how good the sense of a protector is?"

"Well, I'm not like most protectors from your time. I didn't just sense that she was going to be the grandmother of my queen, I forsaw it. After all, I'm the one and only grand witch."

"I'm impressed witch."

"Woah woah woah let's not compliment each other here. It's weird. And what's with that smile? You creepig me out."

"Go back and look after the Queen."

"Ok, I'll be heading back now. Try not to hurt yourself while I'm gone."

Chloe left the mansion. She was just being sarcastic, but she was happy to see Zeal smiling because of someone. It was the first time that she saw him giving off a warm calm smile.

"No. I don't really have anything else to do." Zeal said
