Chapter 5

{Adriannas POV}

Holding hands and walking back with Kane to his room gave me butterflies. I never was one to express my emotions effortlessly, I mean I rarely did it with my parents, or anyone for that matter. However, just a few moments ago, looking into Kanes pools of honey eyes, and seeing the reassurance it needed, it just came naturally. Was I freaked out about the whole Margaret thing? Hell yeah. Did effect me when she insulted me? Never. Was I really one to hold his past against him? Nope. Even though it was a weird situation, Kane handled it so there's nothing to even think about, and there was no way in hell I was letting myself over think about the past.

As we got closer to the dorms, I felt as if someone was watching us, most people weren't around the campus dorms at this time because they were out enjoying the last weekend of freedom. I stopped and turned around with my speed, and saw a figure retreat behind one of the pillars.

"Kane, I just saw someone hide when I turned around, I think they were following us" I said, looking up at him as he looked up with an alert demeanor he said "where did he hide?"

"Behind the pillar not far from the east wing" I pointed, as we walked over, no one was there, but a fresh scent lingered. Pine?

"Do you smell that? Its a fresh scent right?" I asked and watched as he sniffed the air.

"Yeah, definitely fresh, and one I know all too well." he said with a scrowled, I saw his eyes turn white, which meant he was mindlinking someone.

"Who?" I asked, full of curiosity

"Martin" he replied, then his went white again. "Ah, I'll deal with it later. Don't worry sweetheart, let's get going" he said and led me back to the dorms. That was super weird but again something I don't really care about because it was Kanes friend.

When we got to the room, I was impressed by how neat and tidy everything was, and I was more than jealous at the king size bed he had. I ran up to it and immediately jumped on it, feeling super cozy and light.

"Hahaha, I wont be long" he said and headed for the bathroom. As I waited for Kane, I pulled out my cellphone and decided to call my dad.

"So you finally remembered you old man huh?" he answered with a chuckle.

"Oh dad, it's only been 2 days since we last spoke" I laughed

"How are you bug?"

"I'm good dad, its been an amazing week. Just miss you guys a ton"

"Well if you like, I could have us there in 2 weeks, you can meet us at the cabin"

"Oh dad that would be lovely!" I said and I knew he heard the excitement in my voice

"Alright bug, I've got to go. Your grandparents are visiting so I need to run out and get some stuff before your mum bites my head off. You be safe, I love you bug"

"Send them my love dad, bye" and I hung up.

As I laid back down on the bed, I decided to check my texts. I was so lost in a conversation with my mum, I was surprised by a kiss on my forehead. I turned over and saw Kane, lying on his stomach across from me with nothing but a towel on and I couldn't help stare at his amazing arms, that flexed because he was leaning on them "Like what you see?" he said with a smirk

"I mean, I don't know huh" I said, smirking back, then winking.

"As much as I love our banter, I think the mood isn't right for it now" he said, and with his wolf speed, he turned me on my back and was on top of me, holding my hands above my head. He put his weight on me, and then kissed me, but this kiss was full of passion and need, and I couldn't help but reciprocate. Slowly he started grinding against me, as his kisses moved to my jaw, and then neck, edging dangerously low toward my breast. I could feel and smell his arousal, and there's no doubt he could smell mine too, I was wet the moment I saw him across from me, before he even touched me.

"Ah Kane" I moaned as he started sucking the spot between my neck and shoulder, while picking up speed. His hands let go of mine, and they started playing with my breast, doing circular motions around my n*****s, making them extremely hard. As his hand moved down my body, slowly massaging it and I had to bite my lip to stop from moaning, he stopped at my belly button and looked at me "Adrianna, are you okay? would you like to continue?" he asked, taking me by surprise.

"Wh.. what?" I asked, confused

"Baby I know you said you weren't a boyfriend kind of girl, so I'm not sure how comfortable you would be doing more right now" he said so sincerely, it melted my heart. How could this fine specimen of a man be so considerate and caring? So thoughtful. How did I get so lucky?

"I mean, yeah I don't think I'm ready for anything more than this" I said, I grabbed his face and brought it closer to mine "You're so f*cking amazing, you know that?" I say, and before he could answer I drew him into another kiss, I wasn't going to let go until my lungs burned for air. As I deepened the kiss, he started to pull away, and I pouted immediately.

"Hmm, I can't promise not to take you here and now if you keep kissing me that way, I am only a man after all" he said while giving me a quick peck on the lips, and coming off me. He walked over to the drawers and pulled out his clothes and started to get dress. I knew I shouldn't of watched, but once the towel dropped, I couldn't take my eyes of his plump butt. Everything about him was so perfect.

"Uhm Kane?" I called out, hoping he'd turn around before he pulled his boxers on. unfortunately he didn't "Yeah?" he replied while pulling up his boxers and then a beige colour shorts, with a white t-shirt, finally he turned to me.

"I think I need to tell you something, just so we don't have to beat around the bush" I said

"Okay?"

"Well, even though I haven't had actual boyfriends, I did have a few guys in my life." I said looking up at a stunned Kane.

"I mean, I've kissed a few, here and there and went on one or two dates, but that was it. It was hard for me to keep it up, as I was never really interested in it." I said, and I could see him relaxing again. "Also, I'm a virgin" I said watching him intently. The next thing I knew, I was picked up and spun in the air, when he stopped, he kissed me softly this time, as if I was some delicate flower he just picked up. "My sweet, pure, innocent mate" he whispered.

"Well I'm glad you're happy" I said, blushing at his words. "If I wasn't a virgin, would you still accept me wholeheartedly?"

"I would, you'd still be my Adrianna. We're possessive by nature sweetheart, so the thought of another man having you, makes me want to rip their head off" he responded with a chuckle he added "but you made sure I never have to think about that" and finally putting me down. Being this happy with Kane, made me realize I needed to be honest with him about myself but I still wasn't ready. I wasn't exactly lying, but I still felt bad.

{Kanes POV}

"Sweetheart" I said, gesturing her into the SUV while I held the door opened for Adrianna.

"The perfect gentleman" she said with a chuckle. I walked around the SUV to get into the driver side so we could go into the city for a late lunch. Jace and Ella joined us, while the other guys bailed. As I made my way out of the campus gates I grabbed her hand and placed a kiss on in, and then set her hand on my leg.

The sparks that ran through my body whenever we touched instantly made me me feel so alive, as if I could take on the world, while at the same time making me want to bury myself in Adrianna for the rest of my life. As I drove us to the city, we all spent our time laughing while reminiscening about our high school years and the crap we got away with. To my surprise, my mate her fair share of trouble, even though most of it were fairly innocent.

Above the laughter, I heard her phone ring

"Hey dad, what's up?..... Huh? How'd you know?......... Dad no! I'm just going for a late lunch with my friends!........ No way, you can't ask that of me, I'm not a kid and I know how to behave!.......... Dad please, I promise its nothing like that. I'm doing exactly what we agreed on... No, I swear I haven't.... Mom, calm him down, please I know what I'm doing. please?........ Alright bye mama." she said with a sign of frustration.

Just her friends? What did that whole conversation even mean?

I turned to get a glimpse of her and I could see her pinching the bridge of her nose, trying to keep calm, I took her hand and started play with her fingers, never been so happy to have an automatic SUV.

"Whats wrong dimples?" I asked, in tone full of curiosity.

"Agh, just my papa. He er kind of has someone in the administration department that saw me leaving with you guys and contacted immediately, he's kind of pissed I left the campus grounds with a boy" she said and I could her the embarrassment in her tone.

"Shes daddys little girl Kane, you should of witnessed the number of times he called her during the first 3 days, she had to ask her mom to make him stop." Ella added, I couldn't help but feel there was more to the story and Ella was trying to distract me.

I shrugged it off, I knew when Adrianna was comfortable enough, she'd tell me what she was hiding, that conversation was so cryptic but as it was just our second day together, I'd give her a chance to tell me truth when she's ready.

"Yeah sure" I said, I know I came across abit rude, because I heard Adrianna huff as soon as I spoke. I decided to change the subject

"What do you guys feel like eating? I know they have a brilliant seafood place in the city"

"Seafood sounds good to me man, You babe?" Jace asked Ella "Perfect" she responded.

"I'm all for it" Adrianna said.

I pulled up next to the restaurant called Seafood Fire, and quickly ran to get the door for Adrianna, I scooped her up from her seat, placed a kiss on her cheek and set her down. "Kane! what was that for? I'm perfectly capable of getting out of the myself! " she said as her cheeks turned red.

"But I do it so much better!" I said with a slight chuckle as I intertwined out fingers and head to the restaurant. When we got in, the sight before me made me growl in irritation. "Kane what's wrong?" Jace said coming to my side "Ah f*ck man. Really? of all places!" he said as he saw Margaret and Martin sitting at a corner table, deep in conversation.

"Hi there, welcome to Seafood Fire House, a table for 4?" asked the hostess.

"Yes please, preferably somewhere far away from that table" I said while signaling with my eyes who I was talking about.

"Do you have a reservation by any chance?" she asked

"No" I said, with an irritated tone. No doubt she noticed my attitude and it offened her.

"Okay, do you guys mind waiting a while for a table to clear up? You can wait at the bar, and I'll come get you as soon as one is free" she said with a straight face. Just then I heard a familiar voice

"Kane? Little Kane Xiaver?" asked a man who looked to be in his late 40s walking towards us.

"Uncle Matt is that you?" Jace asked

"Ah and young Jace Black!" he said and when he got closer I finally realized it was my fathers best bud from his time at WG. We'd always come to Aspen for holidays at uncle Matt's when we were younger but the older I got, the less we came here. It was so great to know he still lived here. He gave Jace and I a warm smile and a hug, and then we introduced him to our mates.

"Olive! Take them the back booth. They need not wait for a table, they are practically my very own sons and future daughter in laws!" he said, giving her a frustrated look because she wasn't acting fast enough.

"Uncle Matt, you own this restaurant?" I asked as we walked with us to the booth.

"That's right sonny, and you guys and girls get whatever you want, its on me" he said with a wink.

"Boss we need you in the kitchen" shouted a man peeping through the kitchen doors.

"You boys have a lovely night, I'll see you off before you leave" he said and turned on his heel to leave.

"Wow, how did we forget about Uncle Matt? he's such an awesome dude" said Jace taking a sip of his beer. This guy was hell bent on milking Matt's generosity, this was his third one before the food even came.

"I must tell my father we met him, he'd be so pleased." I said. Just then all the food arrived and we dug in. The night went by with us getting to each other more and loads of laughter. As we were about to call it a night and head back to the campus, Margaret approached the table

" Oh how lovely, a double date?" she said with fake sweetness.

"Did I not say you shouldn't come in front of me again?" I could give a f*ck whether she could see the hatred and anger on my face anymore.

"Geez, if looks could kill. I'm only here because I never got to apologize." she said, sounding sincere enough, but if you really knew her, you'd know she was acting right now.

"Apology accepted, now leave!" I said

"You're impossible" she said as she stormed off

"Its barely been a day and shes already setting you off man, get a grip and dont let her get into your skin" Jace said.

"Let's leave shall we?" I asked and got up before they could even respond.

The drive back wasn't as fun for me. I barely paid attention to the conversation in the car. Something didn't seem right, first Martin was following us and now he was meeting with Margaret, especially since he had no problem showing how much he hated her 5 months ago. He could never stand to be around her, everytime she showed up, he'd make an excuse and leave. What changed now that he was taking her out?

"Bro, Damian just said that your dad requested a meeting, but he couldn't get a hold of you on his cell. Your father will be video calling you in about 20 minutes" Jace said as we parked the in the garage. Argh! What now?

"You girls alright your own?" I asked while walking with them to the castle dorms.

"Oh no, how would we ever survive without you two?" Adrianna said, sarcasm not missed. Ella started to laugh and playfully push Adrianna.

"We're good, we'll see yall later?" she asked Jace, while giving him a kiss. "Sure thing babe" he responded.

I wrapped my arms around Adrianna lifting her off the ground so she was eye level with me. "Everything okay dimples?"

"uh huh" she said flashing me a smile

"See you soon buttercup" and I pouted so she would kiss me. I placed her down and she linked arms with Ella and left towards the dorms.

I turned to Jace and asked "Did Damian say what it was about?"

"Yeah something about Margaret" he shrugged.

"I knew this wasn't over, let's go" and we head back to my room.

When we got there, Damian and Wyatt were waiting for us, and the desk had my computer, waiting for my dads call. I looked to Damian for some sort of explanation but he just shrugged and looked away. Fine, if they won't give me a hint, I'll make training tomorrow deadly for them. Just then my father called and by the look on his face, he was anything but pleased.

"Boys" he said as he saw everyone in attendance, besides Martin.

"Alpha" we all responded, and the guys bowed their heads.

"Kane, what is this I'm hearing about you treating Margaret like a rag doll? I thought you two were friends? Her family is extremely unhappy with us, and they have threatened to pull out of the Maddison deal!" he said, trying to contain his annoyance but it still seeped through his tone and gritted teeth.

"Woah, what?" I asked, taken back. The Maddison deal was a project I helped my father with this last summer, it was to design and build low cost housing for underprivileged communities ravaged by poverty. It was when I finally decided that I wanted nothing more then to become a civil engineer. Margarets family owned a firm that held the best engineers and being family friends, they cut down their fees and decided to help with the construction.

"You heard me!" my father roared "This is a multimillion dollar deal and you're putting a spanner in the works for some sleazy girl you just met!" That did the trick, and I couldn't contain the rage burning inside me

"Don't ever speak about my mate like that!" I said, I was about to disconnect when my rather responded

"Your mate?" he sounded bewildered. "Marge forgot to mention that part. Let me go talk to her parents about this." he said, and I couldn't bother anymore to even listen, I stomed out of the room, not even caring how rude I just was to my Alpha. Before I left, I heard the guys explain what happened and I heard him roar in anger again. As I turned the corner to head down the stairs, I bumped into Martin.

"Martin! Where have you been lately?" I asked, I didn't care but I need to find out why he followed us.

"I was out by the lake the whole day," he said nonchalantly. Why is he lying?

"Fine, I expect you at training tomorrow morning, 5am sharp." he nodded and I walked away. The only thing I needed right now was the sweet vanilla cupcake smell to calm me down. I made my towards her dorm and knocked.

"Hey you" she said as she opened the door. She looked at me, immediately she scrowled "Whats happened?" she asked holding my cheeks and searching my eyes.

"I just need you right now" I said. I grabbed her hand and lead her down, we walked towards the bridge at the lake, and just sat on the bridge with our feet dangling out at the edge.

"Talk to me, tell me about your family?" I asked

"Oh erm, well you know my dad, I have babysitter who's 2 years old and mums a stay at home housewife." she said, still looking at me, as if searching for something.

"Your granddad, why hasn't he given up the Alpha title? Does he not have any sons?"

"No, it's just mom. I think the beta has a son who will soon be of age, and it will be handed down to him." she said

"Ah I see. Your dads not from an alpha bloodline then?" I asked.

"No he isn't" she gave a very short reply. " What about you?" she asked

"Theres my dad, mom, brother and sister. They're twins barely 15 years old. We are extremely close, but my dad and I butt heads every now and then" I shrugged as I thought of my recent conversation with him. Even though he didn't have the right story at the time, I was still angry at his words. I knew he'd support me, regardless but he was known for his ruthless business tactics so whenever anyone got between him and his money, he wouldn't waste time snapping their necks.

"Thats lovely, I always wanted a bigger family, I was the only child for so long I promised myself to push out as many children as I could" she said, which earned a chuckle from me. "How many were you thinking of?"

"Definitely enough to create a junior league team!" she squeaked, barely containing her excitement at the thought.

"Well, I know I'd be the luckiest co captain in the world" I said, looking into her eyes, I couldn't help but picture her pregnant with my pups.

I never gave kids much of thought, but Adrianna made me see a future for us and it gave me so much more hope for my future, our future together. I felt a buzzing press up against my thigh and realized Adriannas phone was ringing, and it was her dad again.

"Papa?" she answered

"You better be back on campus grounds or so help me Adrianna Bell Peck, I'll fuel up the jet and bring you back home!" he said, shouting at her. It was so quiet out here, I could hear him clear as day.

"I am dad. You really need to trust me more" she said, full of disappointment

"Its not you Adrianna, you know why I worry about these things. We made a deal remember? You said you'd follow the rules and it's only a little over a week and you're already leaving the grounds with boys! How is that laying low?"

"Papa, please stop. I know what we discussed. I'd never try and harm our family, its just a group of friends."

"Uhm. Well your mom, kia and I will be there 3 weeks from now, We'll see you then." he cut the call and I could see she was hurt.

"Sweetheart what's going on?" I asked, even though I was slightly hurt by her calling me her friend, I figured she just need some time to tell her parents. I know once she tells them I'm her mate they will gladly back down.

"Oh Kane, my dad never hung up on me like" she said, so looked so sad and so innocent, almost like a puppy.

"Hush my heart, I'm sure he'll call tomorrow and be fine, parents get over protective sometimes but its only because they love us yeah?" I said trying to ease her tension.

"Yeah I guess" she shrugged

"So, tell me. Would I be meeting my in laws in 3 weeks?" I asked, a smirk playing on my face as she looked at me shocked

"We'll see" was all she said, and I could hear this wasnt her usual banter. Was she ashamed to introduce us?
