Chapter 10

{Margarets POV}

Four months ago I couldn't believe Kane had accepted that average looking bimbo as a mate. It made me so mad, especially since I was asked by my parents to step down and stop pursuing Kane now that the pack has a future luna. How could he do this to me when I rejected my mate just to be with him?

I knew luck was on my side when that good for nothing Martin approached me, asking for help to break their relationship. At first I thought it was a ploy to try and get me to take back my rejection but now finally after months of planning, the little b*tch was sitting infront of me, too weak to handle a little wolfsbane. I never told my parents about Martin being my mate, I was embarrassed that a low level omega would be my mate, I was already in love with Kane and there was no way I would accept anyone else.

My parents thought I was out of the country for the week, seeking solace in Paris. I ended up renting a cabin in the woods two hours from the city under a fake name. It was the perfect place for our plan to come into motion. It had a shed outside, where the b*tch was held. I wanted her dead but Martin insisted that she had to be kept alive, but he wouldn't go into details so I was stuck with babysitting her. Its been two days since we captured her and Martin hasn't come around yet. He keeps texting, never answering his phone calls, because Kane has them in teams searching for the mutt. I was growing restless, ever since the first night, I had to wait for her wounds to heal before I could torture her some more. I was so excited the first night I almost killed her with the amount of wolfsbane I injected her with, so it took longer for the bullet wound to heal. I had to increase the dosage of her sedative to keep her under because according to Martin, she needed to be kept weak all the time. It was so annoying that Martin kept telling me half truths about everything, but I eased my mind by thinking of Kane running back to me when the b*tch didn't show up.

I decided to go see if she was awake as yet.

"Well well well. Finally you decide to wake up" I smirked, and she kept her head down "look at me when I talk to you!" I shouted while grabbing a fist full of hair and looking into her eyes. Even in her weak, fragile state, she still had that "I'm better than you" look.

"I think we should have some fun today" and I held a syringe of wolfsbane infront of her. She didn't flinch, just looked at me with pure hatred and I couldn't wait to kill her.

"Oops, actually I have another little toy I'd like to try" I said as I walked to the back of the shed and pulled down two silver chains that hung from the ceiling. I released the cuffs on her ankles and brought the chains to cuff her hands, then I reeled in the chains so her arms where held up above her head and her feet barely and inch from the ground.

"Hmm.. now this little whip would be perfect for you" I said, taking one of the whips that laid in the corner of the shed. I ripped her t-shirt in the back, leaving her back bare and I felt a sudden excitement run through me. "Now, what would be your first punishment?" I walked around to face her and she still looked so defiant.

"Fifty whips for being a defiant little b*tch" I said as I to start whipping her, and the smell of blood as her skin spilt open made me want to gag, but knowing that she deserved it, made it easier.

{Kanes POV}

Its been two days since Adrianna was taken and we had no way of finding her. Her father had trackers both human and wolf combing through the hills of Aspen looking and Martin remained silent. He was beaten and tortured to a pulp but refused to talk. My room looked and smelled like a war zone as all his torturing was done there. We couldn't risk anyone finding out that Martin was caught.

"Kane, Mr Peck would like to see you" said Jace as he walked into my room, I had to move into a new room just down the hall as I couldn't sleep in my old one anymore.

"Where is he?" I asked, I didn't want to deal with his bullshit today.

"Cabin" Jace said, I nodded as we walked out, heading to the garage.

I dreaded having to meet William, since we hadn't met on the best of terms, he never warmed up to me. I remember the phone call I made to him two days ago.

~FLASHBACK~

"Mr Peck?" I said as Ella handed me the phone. We'd agree that she would make the call but I would explain everything.

"Kane is it? What's this I hear about you needing to talk to me about my daughter?" he asked, sounding tense.

"Adrianna has been Kidnapped, its been 3 hours since we last saw her." I said, deciding not to waste anymore time.

"What?!" he screamed, then was silent for a few minutes. "Tell me, do you have any leads? Any information?" he asked calmly

"Yes. We have a student in custody who is involved but he's incapacitated right now. We have his phone and we know who he's working with. I have my guys trying to track her cellphone at the moment." I said

"Do you know why she has been taken?" he asked

"I believe it was to separate her from me." I said, and my heart ached thinking I was the one who put her into this situation.

"Why?" he asked, and I could hear him getting angry

"Shes my mate, Mr Peck." I said barely containing my anguish at this point.

"Two of my pack members are believed to be involved, one of which is obsessed with me, and the other is seeking revenge because he believes I cost him his mate"

"Are you f*cking kidding me?!" he screamed "Listen here, I will be there in 4 hours and you better be prepared to tell me everything in detail! Where was she last seen?"

"The bottom of the staircase leading to her dorm room. Her scent fades there" I said and he cut the call.

When he arrived at the campus, I met him at the administration building and he never bothered shaking my hand, the only thing he did was flash me a look of dislike and asked one question,

"Where is he?"

I lead him up to my room, and he began questioning Martin, when he got no answers, he tortured him but to no avail.

When he realized he wasn't going to get anywhere, I lead him to my new room, and filled him in on all information regarding Martin and Margaret. When we told him about Martins father, he froze.

"Mr Peck are you okay?" I asked

"Okay?! I'm not f*cking okay! My daughter is in danger all because of you! Do you understand that?" he screamed and stormed off.

~END OF FLASHBACK~

Ever since that first night, I hardly spoke to him, he liased with Jace or my dad, Ben. As I got out of the car, I felt pain ripping through my back "Ahhhhhhh" I screamed and my knees buckled. Jace ran to me grabbing my shoulders.

"Kane what's wrong? Is she being hurt again?" he asked, full of worry. I couldn't help the tears that came next, it wasn't because of the pain, it was knowing that Adrianna was being tortured and her pain would of been 10x worse than what I felt.

I knew I needed to get a grip before I went into the cabin but I couldn't help thinking of her in pain, it made me want to crawl out of my own skin.

"I need a minute" I whispered "Please"

"Its okay man, take all the time you need, I'll go hold them now for now" Jace said as he headed to the cabin. I got up and walked behind the car, trying to calm down.

When I was finally able to focus, I made my way to the cabin and Jace lead me into Williams office.

"Mr Peck" I acknowledged as he motioned for me to sit down.

"I feel obligated to divulge some information on the Flynns. Yes, Martins father, Bill, worked for me and stole money but that is not all that happened. You see, Bill was also part of the group of embassadors that would make regular trips to my kingdom, Avarys. When conflict arised with my family, I left as you know. Bill, however, whilst keeping this embasssador status also worked with me, but he was doing some dirty deals, trading insider information as well as stealing crown jewels and selling to the highest bidder. I found out about this and immediately informed my mother and he was stripped of all his titles and money. My family drained his bank accounts and ruined his reputation. I dont know if your father knew this about him at the time, but he was banished, thus leaving him and his family to become rogues." he said, with no emotion.

I knew that embassadors and all members of the supernatural community that where allowed to travel between kingdoms and packs answered directly to the Council of Elders, that was their pack so to say, because their duty to keep the peace and uphold justice within each community was above their duties to their alphas. If others wanted to travel between kingdoms, they were free to do so once the peace treaty was signed, but they were only allowed visitation privileges. Embassadors could live in different kingdoms and roam around free as they chose, and when they did live in any kingdom, they lived within royal quarters and always had the ear of the Kings and Queens.

"It is my understanding that after being banished, he wondered around looking for a pack to join, saying he was born as a rogue and wanted to join a pack as a low level omega. Only one pack accepted him, of course, you know which. When I spoke to your father, he said your mother felt sorry for Bills kid and she accepted them."

"How did they not know about Bills transgressions?" I asked, highly annoyed.

"Because his crimes were against Avarys, his punishment was served and the council felt no need to give any more attention to him as they had more pressing matters at the time." he said calmly.

"All this time you knew this and blamed me when you could easily be responsible for your daughter's kidnapping?!" I yelled, pissed off at being kept in the dark and being made to feel like utter s**t by this man.

"Calm down Kane, you know you don't mean it" Jace said, looking alarmed at my sudden outburst.

"F*CK THIS!" and I stormed out, walking straight to the bathroom trying to keep Samson at bay. I splashed some water on my face and decided to leave.

Once I was back at campus, I needed to find a way to draw out Adriannas location from Margaret. We've been keeping her hanging, telling her I have him paired Damian so he can't call or go see her. She seems to be impatient so I'm not sure how much longer we have. Martins father keeps calling but never texts, and I can't help but wonder if he has any contact with Margaret, something had to be done soon before they begin to get suspicious. Just then, an idea struck. They were smart enough to eliminate us tracking them through scent or their phones, but seeing as Margaret was getting impatient, its time for her to meet Martin, once and for all, so I texted her.

Martin: Need to meet, can't come to you so you need to come to the city. Everyones called back from the search for a meeting on campus. I will be able to slip out.

Marge: When?

Martin: Tomorrow, 9am. Seafood Firehouse

Marge: Fine. don't be late.

We couldn't draw her out like this before because of her previous texts with the real Martin, we had to wait for the perfect opportunity to strike. Martin was our one hope, but the f*cker refuses to talk.

That made me wonder about something, I saw him stir in his chair and I walked over.

"Tell me, did you accept Margarets rejection?" I asked, full of curiosity.

"Whats it to you?" he asked, he could barely speak clearly, we had to get a witch to help put a block up so he couldn't mind link anyone, and no one could reach him, and we kept him weak so he couldn't shift at all.

"I'm just wondering why you would go to such extreme lengths to protect the person that rejected you, for me" I said, hoping he'd take the bait.

"Shut the f*ck up! You think this is pain? I felt the pain everytime she slept with you or anyone else and this is nothing!" he screamed. Ah, so he didn't accept her rejection, and now when I finally get her in my hands.. I will make them both pay.

I mindlinked Jace to inform him about the plan for tomorrow, our prayer tonight is that there isn't a third person working with them and helping keep Adrianna prisoner.

It was 7am in the morning and I arrived in the city with Jace, Wyatt and Damian. I decided not inform my dad or William about the plan because we needed a normal environment so Margaret wouldn't be suspicious and the 4 of us could easily hide in plain sight without being detected by her.

Finally she shows up and the plan was in motion. We had to make her wait for 10 minutes before messaging her to say he won't be able to make it because his presence was requested immediately.

Once she gets on the move, Wyatt and Jace was to follow her in his wolf form, while Damian and I follow in a car we rented. She stayed at the restaurant for an hour before she left and walked into the hardware store, where she must of spent another hour. Once she was done, she finally was on the move and we followed keeping a distance so she wouldn't notice us. Once we got to an open road we would park the car and catch up to Jace and Wyatt. We couldn't afford for her to catch us following her on empty roads. After an hour and a half, she turned onto a dirt road and that's when Damian and I shifted and took off. About 10miles on the dirt road was a cottage and not far behind it was a wooden shed. She got off and headed towards the cabin.

Jace, Damian recon the cabin, if the coast is clear then head in and grab her. Don't let her leave your side. Jace, did you carry the wolfsbane? I asked via mindlink

Yes its tired to my leg with my shorts. I think we better shift back for this part. he said and immediately shifted back putting his shorts on and showed me the syringes with wolfsbane as he and Damian headed for the cabin.

Wyatt and I headed to the shed. He broke the lock and opened the door and immediately my heart stopped. There was Adrianna, hanging by her wrists, blood soaked on her white t-shirt and her jeans ripped. Her face was covered in dried blood and some fresh wounds. She had a cut lip, bust eyebrow and scratches all over her face. I ran to her to release her and I heard the thumping of her heart, it was weak but still there. We broke the chains and she fell into my arms, that's where I saw her opened back full of barely healed wounds. She must of been whipped 100 times. All I felt now was anger. I wanted to rip Margarets head off, tear her limb from limb and watch the blood drain from her body. I let out a piercing howl, full of anger and pain.

"Man, please just remember you need to focus on getting Adrianna back to the campus hospital. Its a two and a half hour drive at best, we don't have time to deal with that b*tch." Wyatt said to me. I nodded "Go get the truck up here" and he took off, shifting into his wolf. As I brought Adrianna out of the shed, I mindlinked Jace to bring me a blanket so I could wrap Adrianna up.

Jace tossed me the blanket while he took her from my arms, allowing me to wrap her. I saw him looking at her as tears filled his eyes and then he started shaking, he was about to shift and it was too late to try and command him to stop. I quickly took Adrianna out of his hands as he was on all fours howling at the moon. Just then, Damian came out with a very furious looking Margaret who had a busted lip and what looks to broken nose. As Jace began to lunge at her I commanded him to stand down and shift. Wyatt was right, this is not the time for this. When Wyatt arrived, I hopped in the back while carrying Adrianna as Jace drove, I couldn't trust him to be in the other car with Margaret.

As we made our way to campus, I had to call William.

"Kane" he answered

"We have her, we're heading to the campus hospital. We should be there in 2 and a half hours maybe 3. Please, I will explain when I there."

"How badly is she hurt?" he asked, he almost sounded like be was crying.

"I'm not going to lie, but badly. She's healing and seems stable at the moment. I'll see you at the hospital." and I cut the call. I gave my dad a call to explain. I couldn't stop the tears that fell. I never cried so hard in my life, but seeing my mate unconscious, blood everywhere and ripped clothes, I felt terrible that I ever allowed this to happen to her, I would never forgive myself. I must of howled and cried until we reached the campus gate. We got to the hospital wing in the west castle and everyone was waiting for her.

The nurses immediately placed her on a stretcher and had held her so her back wouldn't touch the bed. Ella, William, Jace, Wyatt, Damian and my dad all gathered around me as Dr Nelson told us we couldn't go any further and he'd come and get us as soon as he knows what's her condition like.

"Son, tell us what happened" my dad asked while grabbing my shoulders and squeezing it for reassurance. He wasn't much of a hugger, this was the most he could do.

"Jace, please explain" I said, I didn't want to think about anything else, I wanted to focus on Adrianna. I couldn't even talk or listen, I needed silence but they had every right to know. As Jace recalled the events, I couldn't help but notice the daggers William sent me, I could feel the argument coming.

"She is my daughter, you could of put her life in danger if they had other people working with them! How dare you not tell me what your plan was? How dare you put her life in further risk?!" he shouted at me, I felt the anger swell in me, but I had to remain calm.

"We're not imbeciles. We reconned the place before going in, if we had need for back up, I would of called" I said calmly.

"William, you need to calm down, Adrianna is safe now, all that matters is her recovery" my dad said, I know he was trying to help me out.

"Ben, I expected more from your son, I cannot forgive anything that happened to my baby girl" William replied.

My dad had a relationship with William when they were younger. They had met a few times here in Aspen and hung out alot, but never built a closer relationship.

"William, I wouldn't blame anyone other than those who committed the crime. You should know better" my father said, slightly annoyed. He'd always been calm because he knew he'd behave the same if his daughter went missing, but given that Mr Peck also had some ties to the Flynns, he was reaching, by expecting to place blame on me.

An hour later, Dr Nelson came into the waiting room to address us.

"Well, Miss Peck is a strong young women. Her wounds are taking longer to heal because of the amount of wolfsbane in her system, I'm assuming they must of used a tranquilizer as well so a combination of both would be hindering her wolf from healing her quicker. Mr Xiaver" he said looking at me, "having you closer to her might speed along the process and keep her calm when she wakes up" he said, as he gestured for me to follow him.

"Doctor, please can I see her? I'm her father" said William.

"I'll allow for 5 minutes but nothing more." he said sternly " From what my nurses tell me, there was an argument earlier and I will not allow such behavior infront of my patient. Any undue stress could hinder her ability to heal" William nodded in understanding and we took off towards her room. When we got there William asked for a few minutes alone so the doctor and I stood outside.

"Mr Xiaver, you should know that non of this is your fault. It is unfortunate what has happened to your mate, but we can't control the actions of others." Dr Nelson said sympathetically. "I will get a nurse to bring in a bed for you, should you wish to spend the night" and he took off down the hall.

When William came out, his eyes were tearful and he stormed off, probably not approving of me being alone with Adrianna. I went in and sat at her bedside, taking her hand, as tears rolled down my face.

{Adriannas POV}

I was in a dark place and I couldn't find the light. My body felt like I was being burned from the inside and I ached everywhere. I could swear I felt something tingle through my body, subsiding the burn just abit, but it was replaced again by the burn. I couldn't speak to Storm, I couldn't connect with her. I knew she was still with me though, just far off in a distance. It felt like I was in this places for ages and then I heard a voice.

"Adrianna, baby girl I'm so sorry. I didnt protect you enough and now you're in this state. I'm so sorry Anna, I promise when you wake up, I'll never let anything happen to you again" and he sobbed, my dad? Oh please don't cry papa, I'm fine, I'm here. I wanted to wake up and hug, tell him everything would be okay but I couldn't move a muscle or open my eyes. What the hell is happening to me? "Your mama and Kia will be here tomorrow Anna, I just hope you're up to welcoming them, they've been so worried and Kia misses her big sister. She keeps asking for you. Its her birthday tomorrow and she can't wait to see you." he sobbed more then said "I'll come by later, I love you so much Anna" and then nothing. I kept trying to call out to him but I still couldn't move.

Then the familiar sparks ran through my hand, and I could feel the sparks run across my lips. Kane.

"Sweetheart I'm so sorry" he sounded so sad and defeated that it broke my heart. I wanted to console him but I didn't know how, I need to open my f*cking eyes.

"I hate myself for putting you in this position, I can't even ask for your forgiveness but I can't forgive myself" oh no, no no no. Why's he blaming himself. I needed to get up and tell him I'm okay, that we were okay, that I love him. Hearing him say that broke my heart and it felt worse than the pain I've been feeling.

I tried so hard, but I couldn't wake up. I know been like this for awhile because I heard my mothers voice. I was glad Kane was still with me when my mother came, I could feel him holding my hand while she spoke to me, and then him. She seemed to like him but I couldn't tell for sure.
