Damien's POV

Ever since she woke up I noticed that she was being conscious about her actions and holding herself back. Even as we entered the kitchen, my mate was slow on her feet and seemed like she was bottling up her fears that she wanted to hide away. I wanted to free her of her fears and her demons I heard her cower from even when she was on the verge of losing her life. Unable to hold back, I took a seat across from her and said, "I can tell something is troubling you, tell me wat it is? Please baby I wouldn't want you keep everything with yourself. Pls share your burden with me omega.. " with my voice threatening to fail me.  " Why Alpha? I pushed you away and disrespected you, any other Alpha would have turned me away but you kept me close and protected me as if I was precious, Why? You endangered your life and ultimately your clan and family for me who you knew for less than 2 hours... Why?? ", she asked me with tears soiling her beautiful eyes. Ooh no!! Nononono I can't stand to see my angel cry and tell herself down. I rush to her side and hold her in my arms, rocking her to and fro as she let her fears go and her tears flow down. After of about 10 minutes her sobs became lighter and her breathing slowly settled. Wiping away tears from from swon white, cotton soft cheeks, I cupped her face between my palms and said, " Selena, you are my mate and anything you do is an act of love for me. Even of you had rejected me as soon as we had met, I would have wanted to protect you and love you as dearly as I can cuz I promise no matter what I would never stop loving you. Looking at you is a gift, loving you is a boon and your loss is death to me. Believe me when I say this, I will never stop loving you untill this heart stops beating and I wanna be there by you as your support and pillar as you grow and blossom. " with this I gently placed a feathery kiss on her forehead to which she shyly hid her face in my chest and I buried my nose in her hair and deeply inhaled her scent. After a few moments I let go of her when she said, "uhh Damien, I think something is burning? ",as I remembered that I had forgotten to turn the stove off. " s**t-" I panicked and went running to cut off the gas and put out the fire on the pan with burning pancake batter. I hadn't noticed but the kitchen was already full of smoke which even the chimney wasn't able to clear off. "OMG!! Mom's gonna be soo MAD!! " I began freaking out and paced around the kitchen quacking, " Wat-ba-ho-.... ". " Hahahaha ",Seeing my incoherent state,  Selena broke out into a beautiful laughter which left me in a daze. It was the first time I had seen her actually laugh without anything holding her back. Charmed by her beauty I didn't even notice that my family had returned and my mom was menacingly stomping towards me. Her laughter seized while she waited for me to return from my fantasy as my mom held me by my ear and twisted it wildly. "Ouuuuuuu", I shrieked. " James Damien Black!! What on earth have you done to my kitchen??!!!!! ", my mom scolded. " How dare you start a FIRE in MY kitchen??? You better have a good reason boy or you are going to regret ever touching the stove!". "Mom I.... ", I trailed off unable to think of a plausible excuse to clam the flames of my mom's anger. Before my mom got any more angry, I decided to confess and take her punishment but my mate beat me to it and spoke shyly, " I'm sorry Luna, this mess is my fault. I was feeling low so he forgot about the food on the stove.... I'm sorry. " in her sweet and melodious voice which never failed to mesmerize me.  I promise nobody and I mean NOBODY ever gets away with messing with my mom's kitchen not even my dad and my sister. But as if she had enchanted her, my mom said, " Oh sweetie it's ok, I'll have someone clean the mess but you must be famished. Let me fix you something to eat, you look too thin and weak." And went on to prepare breakfast for Selena. Dumbfounded with my mother's unexpected response I stared at my mate astonished by her incredible power to make people fall in love with her. My sister came running into the house shouting, " What happened here?? Whats with all the smoke? Bro, you gotta stop trashing the kitchen or mom's gonna kick you out. Right mom? " With an evil smirk on her face. " What? No one's gonna kick anyone out. Now come here and help me make some eggs for selena. The poor girl hasn't had anything for 3 days so stop standing there and come get the eggs out.", said mom busily preparing other ingredients for the omelet. 

Utterly shocked by her reaction, Emily scanned the room to understand the reason and stopped on Selena. "OMG!! You are awake!!", screamed Emily and ran to my mate and hugged her in full force knocking the wind out of her lungs. " Hi... ", responded Selena in a small voice. " Sweetie, I can't even hear you. We really gotta feed you and buff you up. ", said Emily tying up her hair and joining mom behind the counter. Taking the cue I lead Selena out of the house to the garden so she could relax after grabbing a bottle of orange juice for her as my family can be a bit overwhelming sometimes. We settled down on a bench in our backyard, where the snow had blanketed the grass with a breathtaking view. But what truly blew my mind was the fact that as my mate took each step flowers blossomed in her foot step and a beautiful scent of jasmine and the earth after rain spread around from her like an Intoxicating perfume.
